It Pays to Wait: Parisienne Pretty Silkstone Prices

The Barbie Silkstone doll Parisienne Pretty is on sale at the Doll Market for $69.97.

That sounded like a pretty good price until I checked eBay. The least expensive NRFB sold for $49.50 plus $9.50 shipping. The highest sold for $74.99 plus $7.14 shipping. There are currently about 25 NRFB Parisienne Pretty dolls for sale. One Buy-It-Now with a damaged box is going for $44.95 + $11.23. The same seller has a good box for $5. additional. Because I'm a deboxer, I'd definitely go for the damaged box as long as the seller guaranteed that the doll was mint.

Those that like to bid can have fun as there are several auctions running.

It's a very nice Silkie mainly because of the excellent quality of the fashion and jewelry.

When she was released her list price was $139.95. I don't know if anyone actually paid that much. I bought mine from a dealer in June, 2009 and paid $99. plus shipping.

So if you collect Silkstone dolls and don't yet have Parisienne,  this will make a nice addition to your collection and you will save a bundle because you waited until now to buy her.

It pays to wait.

Clearance Sale at Two Daydreamers

I wanted to follow up the last blog post because I started hunting MA dolls on sale and I found a bevy of them at  better prices at Two Daydreamers. Going Platinum Paris, mentioned in the last post sells at $79.95 here as do all the other Jason Wu designed 16" Alex line dolls. She also has Tonner Dolls and a selection from other manufacturers - not all on sale but why not browse anyway. What else do you have to do besides look at dolls?

Madame Alexander "Envy Cissy" - LE 200 $149.95 (This is a killer price for Cissy.)
The 10th Doctor aka Doctor Who $107.99

SALE ALERT! Radio City Rockette Trunk and The Doll Market's Weekly Web Specials

I'm signed up to receive weekly lists of specials from The Doll Market. Most of the time their prices are not all that good or the merchandise is of no interest to me.  I do love my 10" Madame Alexander Cissettes so when I saw the Radio City Rockette Trunk set offered for $99.97 the juices started flowing. What I do when presented with that type of sale is I search the internet for comparable prices. Right off the bat, Amazon.Com came up with the same doll set for $99.95 and free shipping. Doll Market loses due to the shipping differrence but I know that some of you are boycotting Amazon so, there you go.
The list price is $279.95.

Madame  Alexander Radio City Rockette Trunk Set feat. Cissette
I love trunk sets because of all the outfits and the storage trunk is usually cute as well.
Description:

10 inch vinyl fully articulated "Radio City Rockette" Cissette doll has red hair, blue eyes; she comes wearing a blue satin leotard that has crystal embellishments and fur on trim of leotard and opera gloves. A matching white hat, white choker, pantyhose and silver shoes completes this Rockettes look. This Cissette has three different outfits that come in a keepsake trunk; the other two are: a green velveteen pleated dress that has puffed sleeves, silver and crystal accents, fur trimmed hemlines and a matching festive hat. The other outfit is a slick leotard that has a flesh colored and gold laced bust attached at the bottom to the bodice that has red vertical stripes and has red tights attached. The final touches for this outfit are the gold leather shoes and a straw hat with a large white feather attached.
Get ready for Christmas early! It's a good price and with the free shipping, it's sweeter.

SALE ALERT! Fashion Doll Agency (FDA)

This may be a first for this doll designer. At least it's the first sale of theirs I've seen. They are selling off early outfits and combination outfits and shoe/accessory packs at very reasonable prices.

FDA Photo of Pola wearing "Laine Lezard" $50 with Free Shipping
Since discovering that someone out there in the world (other than FDA) makes cute outfits for these emaciated dolls at a decent price I have decided to keep Marcella.
Of course she needed MORE clothes.

The Doll Market is offering free shipping plus $10 off your order of $99 or more. Alternately you can get free shipping on all orders over $49 without the extra $10 off.    But, forget about applying this to BJD's or dolls like

One begins to wonder "why bother?" One answers, "because it's a sale."

Clearance Sale at Cherished Friends New Jersey Store

The Cherished Friends New Jersey store is not just about baby dolls! Check it out for yourself and see the wide variety of fashion and character dolls they carry. I was surprised myself! I regularly check the main PA store for sales/clearance. Today I happened to click on the NJ store and the first things that caught my eye were the Jason Wu Cissy dolls. I did get my Vice Cissy at a very good price a few months ago but $199.99 is extremely good. Envy and Vice are both being sold at that price. I get the feeling that Jason Wu and Madame Alexander will not be collaborating on dolls again anytime soon.
Envy   SRP...$349.95...Sale $199.99

The unattractive Alex Signature Collection dolls styled by Jason are also on sale for $99. each. Paris isn't as unattractive as Alex but there was no reason to alter their appearance in the first place. IMNSHO

The supremely ugly and ill-designed Vita Inferno is reduced from  SRP...$160...Sale Price...$79.99.
Don't debox if you buy one. Her odd-looking sister in turquoise, Vita Aqua Bella, is also reduced.

Anyway...check out the sale. There might be something you want like Tonner's Strider, Ranger of the North. This is a pretty hot-looking male doll on the 17" Matt O'Neill body. I've seen him in person and I would add him to my collection. His outfit is detailed and very cool. I wish I could find The Tenth Dr. Who somewhere on sale. I'm waiting for him.

$149.99 - Sale Price $89.99

You know you want her.   SRP $149.99 . . . Sale Price $79.99

Pink Week Sale at Barbie Collector 5/5/11 — 5/9/11

BC.Com announced the beginning of a new sale called Pink Week. Here's a little promo text:

You get three ways to save during Pink Week:
  1. More than 100 dolls and accessories have been newly discounted - as much as 50% off.
  2. More than 40 already-reduced items have been discounted even more.
  3. During Pink Week, you get an additional 15% off those fabulous Special Offer Shelf deals!
For example you can get three sheets of wrapping paper for $10, regularly $15. (Ribbon not included.) Once you add it to your shopping cart, an additional 15% comes off bringing the cost to $8.50.

The last style of Barbie wrapping paper came with nice pink ribbon and actually looked like Barbie wrapping paper. This is nice but is not doll related at all except to those who are familiar with this new trying-to-be-iconic look.

If you've been holding off ordering the ridiculously over-priced (at $150.) Palm Beach Coral Silkstone, she now comes to $63.75 with this sale. If you can find a free shipping code or want to use your quarterly bonus, your deal is even sweeter. I may actually get her after all.

Or perhaps I will waste $8.50 on Goldie.
Are you going to buy something?

Shimmering Touch Cissy AA on Sale

It's rare to see a NRFB Cissy go on sale for less than $199. Today the Doll Market is offering their last Shimmering Touch Cissy AA doll for $179.97. She's an LE of 150 and they have only one.

Just for fun, do a search of the web and see the wildly varied prices for this one doll.  The Doll Market is the low price. Katherine's Cottage is one of the highest at $399.99.

Remember, Cissy dolls usually carry a higher shipping price.

There is one one on eBay right now for $199.95 with free shipping.  That's a great deal, too.

Accidental Shopping? The Tin Man and Heart on My Sleeve

A few weeks ago, another collector and I made plans to have a dolly day at my house. That day was Saturday. She had never been to the Tonner store which is only 11 miles from me. Coincidentally, they were having a tent sale at the store. Seriously. It wasn't planned at all. So what were we supposed to do? Not go? Not shop? Get real.

Under the tent were the 50% off items. There was some of everything. We didn't get there until about noon. We heard that the line had been long prior to the opening and it was crowded. When we arrived, it was fairly empty but there was a ton of merchandise.  I was good; I left some stuff there and only purchased three dolls and three fashions.
One of the three dolls I purchased was a re-imagined Tin Man character called "Heart on My Sleeve." When I originally saw the Ladies of Oz, I thought they were so creative.

Tonner Image
My favorite was The Tin Man but I didn't love the ultra-white skin. Guess what? The production doll has plain ordinary Caucasian skin color.  Yay.  I did not see any of the others at the sale. Inside the store was a long, long table area piled high with bagged dolls that were more than 50% off. That's where I found her.

Reminder:  You can click on the small pictures to see them full sized.

The costume is adorable. Look at these boots.
The platform is clear acrylic. They zip up the back. I love them!
Even so, I'm looking forward to redressing her. She has a gorgeous face (Duchess sculpt) and beautiful red/orange hair. The body type is Antoinette.
She has my heart!
Lest anyone say that my posts are too short...here are more Tin Man dolls.
My favorite is this 8 inch one from Madame Alexander. So cute!

 Can you identify the rest?
