A Few New Pictures

Tulabelle: Trend Spotted
An impulse buy-$99 was a great price. I like her fashion a lot, her face not so much. She's definitely a candidate for a repaint but I'm not keeping the doll - just the outfit. The glasses are Horsman. She's got a hairnet on as she's going to a new home. I like my dolls a little more mature-looking but she does have a pretty cute vibe.

J'Adore Gene Marshall wearing "All About the Eyes."
I tried but I could not get those gold gloves on. If this were a vinyl doll I would have pushed and pulled until they went on...not with a resin doll.
For this gal, none of the available wig caps please me as much as a few of my Sybarite wigs.  I have seen several restyled JamieShow wigs looking really great but I'm not talented in that department.
I love this look on her.

Deja Vu "My Afternoon Stroll" wearing Sybarite jeans and sweater, Ficon sneakers and a random wig. I can't warm up to this doll. I need dolls to feel right from the start. She doesn't suit my style although she is very versatile and can wear so many fashion items I have already.

Precarious Precious Metal wearing Antoinette's "Optimistic" fashion and Fashion Royalty earrings. This doll's beauty was a surprise to me. Her original outfit was overwhelming and once I took it off, she came alive.

Enjoying My Dolls

One of my favorite gowns on a favorite doll, Inro. The fashion is from Tonner's Hypnotic Antoinette. I love when fashions from different dolls are interchangeable. Wig by Ilaria.

Here is Jamieshow Ling Lan wearing a Doll Peddlar Exclusive by Ficondoll called Baram2. Wig by Cheryl Wood.

This is what it looks like with all it's pieces...lots of options.

Leonie got a gift from Cheryl Wood of an edgy blonde wig. It suits her well. She is wearing Miss G Black's fashion. Ficon dolls have wobbly legs and although I try, I cannot pose her without a stand.

I sold all of my Avantguard dolls months ago due to loose joint issues and discoloration issues. I really didn't think I'd buy another but I wanted the shoes from On Edge. Don't tell me you never bought a doll to get a pair of shoes! Actually it's the first time I did it and I'm glad. I like this sculpt and always have. She is wearing her own wig (which was a nightmare to put on) and her own clothes. The glasses are Horseman/Urban Vita.

I'm currently in the middle of reorganizing my doll room which wasn't too organized to begin with. These things take time. :-)

Free Doll Clothing Patterns

While browsing Prego this morning, I came across a post from ~MICKI B~ Essex, England, aka Silkspike, in which she wrote about making a few t-shirts her girls. Click here for the original post on Prego.

She put up pictures and added her own methods for refining the shirts. This looks like something we can do!

Altered Color - Digital Magic

One of the themes this week on Prego is Black and White. I have an enormous archive of my digital doll photography, yet somehow, I remember individual photos even when they are several years old.
I like black and white images but even more than that, I like a shot of color in a b&w image. Here are several which appeared in a past FDQ piece a few years ago.
I do all my photo editing using Photoshop.

Tiny Kitty To Make A Comeback

I forgot to mention that Robert Tonner announced the return of Tiny Kitty at the IDEX breakfast last week. They showed the line but it was a slide show so I didn't get to see enough. I thought the dolls looked more like Simone Rouge than Tiny Kitty. Simone is less innocent looking.
The bodies will be the same...boo hoo. I would have liked if they could sit without their knees spreading apart. In any event, I am pleased that there will be some new Tiny Kitty dolls to join my collection.

This is a really old photo. My first Tyler and possibly one of my first Tiny Kitty dolls.

One of my favorites, "Little Miss Kitty."

I love the blonde TKs.
Wearing a Poppy Parker outfit. Seated on her own bed.

Tiny Kitty loves to wear Fashion Royalty clothes! The shoes do not fit (the boots do) and the bust is a different proportion but many of the multi-piece outfits from the 2nd generation FR work well.

Tiny Kitty and Simone Rouge share the same body. They can also wear modern 10" Cissette fashions.

This is a picture of Simone wearing a Madame Alexander Cissette (or Coquette) fashion.

My girls get along with each other. The big ones look after the small ones. Antoinette and Simone.

Tonner's Antoinette and Her New Gown

I was very lucky to be able to get the fashion from the doll called Sweeping Antoinette.

It is perfect for my redhead Simplicity Antoinette.

I'd like to get back to concentrating on one doll at a time. It may take the rest of my life, though.
The issue with these big manufacturer releases and pre-ordering is that one gets too many dolls at one time. That's no way to appreciate the beauty of a single doll wearing different fashions. I have dolls that have never had time in front of a good camera. I currently have 11 or 12 dolls (I'm not even sure.) on pre-order.
It's ridiculous and it keeps happening. I think the companies count on the fact that we lose track of what we're ordering because of the time gap.
I am going to do what I did 3 years ago. I'll print out a sheet with the doll pictures and all related info. When I feel the need to order more, I can look at what is coming. Maybe that will work.

I want, want, want. I'm a sad case.

I want this outfit from Fanciful Antoinette. Sigh.

The Tonner Sale

Yesterday my husband, dog and I traveled to Kingston, NY. We checked into the Hampton Inn and then met our daughter for a bite. On the way back to the hotel I suggested that we drive past the Tonner building on Wall St. to find out when the parade was taking place. Guess what? We arrived 10 minutes before the parade. That was a surprise and also the reason I didn't have my camera as it was back at the hotel. It was raining and very cold but we saw costumed Tonner staff leading the parade to the sound of bagpipes which scared the living daylights out of Rudy (the loud bagpipes scared him, not the Tonner staff.)  And when he saw the Cat in Hat in front of the store today, he wasn't too happy either.

The one smiling is my husband. Look at Rudy and the way he's looking at the costumed guy. Too funny.

Back to the sale.

This morning was the big sale at the Holiday Inn. The usual suspects were in attendance...those of us collectors from the tri-state area and now, Pennsylvania, a few Canadians and I guess the rest were locals. The ballroom had big round tables piled high with bagged, dressed dolls. In cartons around the room were bagged outfits and some boxed props. Those in the know practiced the grab and look later technique. One collector actually had her entire family outfitted with large bags into which they were instructed to take everything they could. It was fun and I am very happy with my gets. There were a few things I was disappointed to find out wouldn't fit any of my dolls - such as DeeAnna Denton's outfits, but I can sell those.
One doll I was happy to find was Neo Tokyo. I went knowing that I would be looking for him. I guess he wasn't that popular because there were many of him available.

I also got a beautiful Antoinette. I didn't even know she was Antoinette at first. I love her.

I've redressed her in one of the outfits I got.
In the background you can see one of my older Antoinettes wearing another new fashion.
I found a 13" Simone Rouge who is very pretty in person and will be the only other 13" companion my Bana Migdal has.

I picked up a bunch of Tyler Boutique tops and a bunch of NuMood tops and skirts.

Back at the store after the sale, collectors were invited to have Robert (as handsome as ever) sign their dolls and view the new Dr. Seuss dolls.  The rest of the Tonner staff was there to chat and help collectors in their pursuit of wonderful dolls.

I took a few pictures of the displays while Rudy was licking as many faces as possible.
There were many willing victims.

I want the Reflections of Beauty Mirror. Please send me one.

Woefully Romantic Ellowyne. Love her outfit!!!

Have you seen the new bed in the Ellowyne line? It's divine and called Ennui Dreams.

One of the packages waiting for me when I arrived home contained the Bugged collection from Superfrock.

A good dolly weekend? Yes.

Happy Hanukkah!

Tonner's 2012 Fall/Holiday Line Release

This afternoon the pictures of Tonner's new dolls were revealed. It is a large release. Collectors who loved the 16" Marilyn Monroe will be happy to know that there is one new basic Marilyn as Pola Debevoise (?) and four era appropriate fashions. A fully dressed 16" Marilyn in the hot pink "Diamonds" gown is also going to be available for $189.99.

$124.99
There are five dressed Precarious dolls and one basic. It bothers me that new Precarious dolls have been introduced and the ones I currently have on pre-order haven't even shipped.
This one looks a lot like Raven and I thought the redhead was Antoinette until I enlarged the image enough to see her face clearly.

$189.99
$224.99

My favorite fashion is on a dressed Cami. She is lovely but I have enough Camis right now. I would like the outfit.
$179.99
Also making an appearance are Gone With the Wind dolls, Peggy Harcourt, Nu Mood, Memphis characters,  Ron Weasley, Vampire Diaries, Marvel Comics, Wizard of Oz (Steampunk Style), The Hunger Games, Twilight New Moon, American Models, Disney and 10" Patsy. I'm out of breath just typing that.
Where is Tiny Kitty and Simone Rouge?

The Nu Mood Tyler looks really odd. Is this a revamped sculpt or just a bad promo shot? Yikes. But the price is right! She comes wearing a white bodysuit and the wig.
 $59.99
There is also a Nu Mood Sydney that doesn't look like Sydney, one with the Breathless sculpt and one with the very popular Cinderella sculpt.

Hypnotic Antoinette

I caved and finally got Hypnotic Antoinette. I've had her fashion for a long time but she kept being put on a back burner and I couldn't find a nude at a decent price. This time I found a dressed one at a fair price and I was able to sell the outfit.

Here she is modeling Gene Marshall's Spotted in the Park. This outfit is from a dressed doll and, as far as I know, came with only one black dog. Mine came with a white dog, too.  I purchased the fashion from the late Ben Grundfast's  estate. The shoes are Antoinette's own.

Note added on April 17, 2012:
I've been told that these dogs are originally from a separate accessory set. They are called Dottie and Dashiell. What became of the original poodle, I have no idea. I think these are supposed to be Scotties.

The Year in Dolls - A 2011 Montage

So many dolls; so little time.
I just spent a few fun hours going through the doll stuff  that passed through my doors this past year. A fair amount of what is pictured went back out the same doors after I got bored, traded, or decided to 'reinvest' the funds. Some of what arrived isn't pictured probably because it hasn't even been photographed yet.
The original image is 5000 pixels square at 300dpi. This one is very reduced but if you click on it a larger version will open. Can you identify everything? Can you find Waldo?
