Robert Tonner Revives Evangeline Ghastly and Ellowyne

I was pondering whether or not to put a question mark at the end of the title for this post. This is a surprising announcement by the Tonner Doll Co. I thought the TDC was finished and had been replaced by Phynn & Aero.

Released yesterday was one gorgeous Evangeline, dressed all in red and two Ellowynes.

Drop Dead Red Evangeline @ $235. Limited Edition 175.
Her head is a new mold and she has a new body as well.  I think she's pretty fabulous looking.

Two Ellowyne Wilde dressed dolls made a debut.

Ruffled Up Ellowyne @ $225. LE 150

Wistful Rose Ellowyne @ $225. LE 150

She has a newly molded head and the RTB101 body. I have no idea what that body looks like.

Some other dolls I found on the Phyn & Aero website:

Nancy Ann Abbott, UFDC Meal Event Exclusive Companion $225 LE 75
Nancy Ann Abbott was, in real life, an actress and dress designer. She started the Nancy Ann Storybood Company in 1938 and was extremely successful.

American Beauty $235. LE200
This is Annora. I'd like to see her close up.  She, too, is on the RTB-101.
The dress does not impress me. It's been done over and over. The doll's face looks pretty.

Apparently body sizes have been standardized. That's pretty great for those collectors who like to switch clothes between dolls but it's a major change. Evangeline is now 16.5" tall.

RTB-101 Body Measurements:
Bust - 7 1/4
Waist - 4 7/8"
Hip at Top Joint - 6 1/2"
Hip at widest part of thigh - 7 1/4"
Waist to Knee - 5 1/8"
Waist to Floor - 10 3/8"
Divot to Waist - 3 1/4"
Shoulder Across Back - 3 1/4"
Arm to Wrist Joint - 5"
Overall - 16 1/2"

I don't know why they don't finish the Tyler Wentworth archive. After all, she's been around the longest and is still around.

Wilde's First-Ever Virtual Factory Sale

Are we excited yet?

I bought my first Evangeline at a real factory sale and I was hooked for a while. (It was the old body's awful posing that did me in.) Now I have just one new Evangeline with a bunch of outfits and one Ellowyne. And that's it. Not that I don't look often.

I'd love a Sad Sally just because she is so adorable. I have never held one so I don't know how well she poses. But...I have learned how to wire my dolls so that problem will go away - maybe.
This doll is a basic and retails for $250. She's 7" tall - or should I say 7" short? Resin BJD, changeable eyes and wig. I have a feeling that I won't be able to get one on sale if they even have any for sale. Sigh.

If this were an outfit, I'd buy it for my beautiful Ello, but it's a dressed doll and I don't want another doll.
Great Depression Ellowyne $135.15 (End of edition Special)
Perhaps someone reading this will do a split with me???

Looking for an outfit for my Evangeline, this looked good at first.
Candlelight at Night (Outfit Only) $110.
Harking back to a topic I've covered before, here is one of the reasons manufacturers should not use glitter:
Click on the image to enlarge it and tell me what those sparkling dots are on her black dress. Yep. It's glitter on the dress.  It is probably on the doll, the photographer, his work table and everywhere else. Ugh. The shoes are described as silver glittery. Why doesn't the description say the robe has applied glitter? Because no one wants it. Here is the description from the website:
Featuring a long black dress of shantung trimmed in tulle beneath a glowing robe of sheer fabric and sequins with matching tulle trim and shantung sleeve cuffs, this ensemble is sure to light up any dark and dreary night! The outfit is complete with matching black hat garnished with feathers and tulle ribbons at the back, and a soft veil. Silver glittery shoes finish the look. Splendid for those night vigils! LE 350
This post started out as an announcement about the virtual factory sale and turned into a rant about glitter.  In any event, I think there will be chaos on the ordering site. So many people will be trying to buy stuff that the server will become paralyzed. That's been my experience with these virtual factory sales no matter who the manufacturer is. They just don't have enough band width.

Keep your expectations low and you won't be disappointed. If you get to buy something at a price you like, that's great!

Good luck, everyone.

March 24, 2014. At approximately 12:10 PM EDT

This link will become active when the sale begins:

New Ellowyne and Evangeline Items at Wilde Imagination & Free Shipping

Some very pretty new items went up on the Wilde Imagination sites today. For Ellowyne there are two new dressed dolls, one new basic and three new outfits. The new dolls have inset eyes. The dolls look more alive to me with inset eyes. Both dolls are LE 1,000

Tears of Endearment $149.00        Wit's End    $155.00
Wit's End must be channeling Daniel Boone era. Perhaps she's a dancehall girl from old western movies.

The new outfits below, seem to be toned down compared to prior releases. All are LE 1,000.
Stolen Moments $74.00        Fur Real $74.00        Ties That Bind $79.00
For Evangeline there are 10 new outfit items that have been added since I looked last week. They are blouses, skirts, jackets a cape and a bustier ranging in price from $58. to $72. One can buy the "Attic Collection Three" for the tidy sum of $520. It includes all ten items. There are definitely four must haves in that group - maybe 5....

The items are gorgeous!
There is a period of free shipping until the end of February in the continental US with a purchase of at least $75. Add the promo code SPRING11 to your order form.

I'm not thrilled with the articulation/engineering of Evangeline. I like to play with my dolls and pose them and photograph them. These girls are awkward and difficult to pose. Their joints are kicky. Their heads do not move properly. They can't sit up. I may not buy any more dolls in the line until they improve the poseability. It's definitely not out of the range of the company's abilities. I have less expensive dolls with better articulation. I know that people were influenced by my first reviews and bought dolls. The market definitely has room to grow. The quality of the product needs to grow to meet the demands of a discerning collector. I'm sad to say that Evangeline has the least posing ability of any other fully articulated doll in my collection.

A Day of Ennui with Robert Tonner and Ellowyne...sigh.

Today I attended a luncheon at the Wiltwyck Country Club which is only 13 miles from my home. I love that I live so close to the Tonner hub. Who knew when I moved to Woodstock that I would be collecting dolls? It's really a big coincidence...or is it?
Anyway...it was fun. Everyone looked great. There were the usual fantastic raffle prizes none of which came home with me. I consider the cost of my 80 tickets a donation. There were competition dolls and all of them looked like winners to me.
Upon arrival we were greeted with a cute canvas tote inside of  which was an Ellowyne item of clothing or outfit, a book of Ellowyne poetry, some postcards and a catalog.
There was a big bowl of lovely mood rings at the registration table. Mine didn't change color until I put it inside my bra for a while. Hey, a table full of women usually gets a little raunchy.
Dessert was good and I would have been happy to have eaten just that. It was a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on a puff pastry shell drizzled with either chocolate sauce or strawberry sauce. And then the server brought a trough of whipped cream to the table. Heaven. I love whipped cream.
The centerpiece was Prudence:
The event souvenir was Ellowyne "A Day of Ennui" (of course):
The companion doll was Amber, "No Ennui, Just Me!" I didn't even know this character existed! I love her snooty face.
All the dolls have inset eyes and applied lashes. I think that makes them even more special. The additional dolls were $150. plus NYS tax which is 8%, give or take a fraction, bringing the total to $162.
After the event those who wished to purchase additional dolls did just that. There were plenty of dolls to buy. I'm guessing the extras will be offered through the Tonner Store so if you are interested, keep an eye out for announcements at the Tonner Direct website.
We were invited back to the store after lunch to have dolls signed and to spend more money. Everything in the store (except event dolls) was available to us for 20% off the current price. Dealers do not carry Wilde Imagination products so there is no discount unless they go on sale directly from WI.  I made up my mind before I left the luncheon that I would buy the Wilde Rose Vanity and Stool I have been eyeing for two years.
Image property of Wilde Imagination
Yes, I had controlled that impulse for so long (while ignoring others and letting them run rampant.) But I broke down and ordered it. After all it was a bargain at 20% off.  I wanted it-emphasis on the word wanted.
Do you notice how effectively I have stopped buying dolls larger than 12 inches tall? Now that I have Ellowyne dolls again, they need a little furniture, right?

Picture of the Week Award ~ November 22, 2009

I am happy to feature the work of France Briere today. France aka Bijou Doll is an uber-talented repaint artist. I have not seen one doll she has worked on that I wouldn't add to my collection. I met her at a Fashion Royalty convention and she is as delightful and as beautful in person as her work!
Here is a repaint of Ellowyne she posted today:

Congratulations, France, on your Picture of the Week Award!

Halloween-y Images

The doll above is Ellowyne Wilde, "Nevermore" from Wilde Imagination which is an offshoot of the Tonner Doll Company. Earrings are by Joy Jarred. The snarling furry thing at her feet is a Sybarite wrap. Backdrop is a CED folding screen draped with a lace shawl. The chaise is a velvet covered jewel box and the round table on the left is a vintage hand painted and gold leafed Italian miniature jewel box. The heads are spray painted Mattel items and the black teddy bear is a Pullip accessory.

In the photo below we have the spooky-looking but very beautiful 16" Sister Dreary from the Tonner Doll Company. I love this doll's sculpt and the entire misery-laden concept of this line of dolls which includes Sister's younger sister, 12" Agnes Dreary, and brother, Viktor Dreary.

6-25-07 Ellowyne, Diorama

I sold Ellowyne Red, White and Very Blue so I could buy "Nevermore." RW&VB was too modern for the other two Ellowynes I have. I want to keep her dressed in lacy, old fashioned styles that fit with her story line. There are people making clothes for her as if she were just an ordinary doll. I can't see it. The only one making suitable items for this doll is Tallulah!

This image is from the Wilde website. I ordered her last night.
I'm waiting on many items. One of them is the Clea Bella set. That's going to be very interesting and a big help in taking pictures within a room setting.
Speaking of room settings. I have set up a wonderful diorama of a living room/office in my studio. Here are some fun pics of that.

I love the couch and the desk and all the details. I need curtains for the windows.

Saturday is the Tonner sale. I'm trying to psych myself up for it. All I hope to find are Ellowyne items but you never know. It's a good opportunity to buy stuff to resell.
