Superdoll Collectables' Black Friday Event

I don't know what time they put up their sales items but I know we were on the New Jersey Turnpike when I ordered what I wanted. No, I was not the driver.

Nothing can stop a doll collector - neither a moving car nor sun in her eyes!

Back to reality, in addition to giving 50% off on all items which have languished on their site for a year or more, three new adorable 50's style dress sets debuted at reasonable prices.
I wanted all three so I decided to get none of them. How's that for a reasonable decision?

A new style of shoe is offered with each of the above:

As of right now, they are all still there.

New Outfits

In my not-so-humble opinion, the navy blue ensemble called "On Set," modeled below by re-bodied "Overachiever" Eugenia Frost, was the best of the recent FR Cinematic Convention offerings. It was in the registration bag. It's sleek and sexy and I love it.

The only other item I wanted from this event is being modeled by another re-bodied Eugenia, "Most Desired."  This outfit is from "Inner Spark" Natalia, a convention package doll.
Yes, it's another fish tail black gown but I like it. The texture of the surface swirls almost makes the gown look beaded. The bodice could have been a bit tighter but it's just fine on the FR2 body as is.

I'd still like to have the Elise "Starlet" centerpiece doll nude only because I love that sculpt but I'm not paying the price being asked as it's not important enough. She's not in the running as one of the best Elise dolls anyway. No FR sculpt is that necessary anymore because my collecting funds go towards the resin BJDs now. I'll still buy a doll or three occasionally but I've also sold off a portion of my FRs.

____________

The gown and wig above are a wonderful pair of creations by Cholo Ayuyao. Bravely modeled by Sybarite Toxica, it leaves little to the imagination.

In this, our precious world of pretty dolls, one has to be very selective to curate a rewarding collection according to one's own means. I'm getting better at that now.

There is much to sell off but it takes so much time which might better be spent playing.

Balance? Moderation? What are they?

A Compilation of Photos & Descriptions from Neutron Prom, a London Sybarite Event

This past weekend, those collectors lucky enough to be able to attend the  2015 Sybarite Convention "Neutron Prom" in London, England were treated to wonderful dolls, fashions and a Chalk White event.

Izzy beautifully described her experience on Prego.
The venue was spectacular - a secret room in one of the old big Victorian railway hotels rediscovered behind bricks and plaster when the hotel was redesigned as a luxury boutique venue about four years ago.

Marble steps and columns, black and white tiled floor, chairs from carved wood and leather - looking like thrones, white candles flickering everywhere......and above it all this incredible painted and gilded and sculptured ceiling with the signs of the zodiac and other mystical symbols.

Yeah.....despite the gorgeous blue and gold painting and the beautiful room.....all eyes were on the four pedestal cabinets precisely lined up in the centre of the room.

To discordant yet beautiful music we made our way from the Zodiac perfume launch to our seats in this magical room.

The music changed.....and with Charles and Des looking gorgeous in their formal evening dress at the end of the room....a voice began to speak.

As the voice described how we were all gathered together for a single purpose a breathless hush descended....and finally the voice queried what was behind the curtain.

Suddenly lights illuminated the cabinets and we could see colour/shape/pose/outlines...... there were the girls we had come to London to see! Even through the black drapes we knew we were in for an exhibit of truly amazing beauty.

In silent unison Charles and Des walked along the room removing each black drape and revealing the full glory of the collection.

For a few seconds we sat in stunned silence unsure of what to do next or where to look next...AND THEN WE RAN TO THE CABINETS!!!!!

Twelve beautiful girls....one named for each sign of the Zodiac although we didn't get to know that until much later.

A mixture of DC and Venus faces.....I'm not sure of the actual split but possibly somewhere around equal numbers of each.

Vibrant shiny glossy hair colours....some teased out into beautiful styles and others hanging in fabulous ringlets. I may be wrong but I think the hair colours were in four groups to represent the air/fire/earth/water signs in blues, blondes, auburn and brunettes (not in that order). All the colours were beautifully saturated with the blondes having delicious golden strawberry tones and I think all were slightly different shades.

Lips were a mixture of soft corals, vermilion, deep red, plum......gorgeous shades!

Colour was everywhere but looking totally fresh....almost like freshly dried paint on some of the gowns which appeared to be sewn literally from "old masters"! The girls themselves were rising out of a bed of undulating plain artists canvasses I think...at least that was my impression.

Most were dressed in full length gowns but with totally original shapes and trims....I do remember at least one girl in a cocktail length strapless gown too.

Gold snakeskin slippers with sparkling jewelled soles...some with fur pompoms or buckles or trims.

And.....acupressure maps on their palms!

Janina Fiehl has been extremely helpful in explaining the events so I could pass the information on. All of this information and all the photos below were provided by her.
Registration took place on Thursday. Attendees received "Vanity" and had the opportunity to chat with other collectors at the Salon.
On Friday evening, guests received Pandora and Mischief and the new Superdoll perfume, Zodiac!
That evening, the Chalk White exhibit took place as well.
On Saturday there was a formal dinner and the beautiful (resin) "Dawn Star" doll was given.

Dawn Star
Dawnstar is French resin and was literally made from old bodies they had left over from a OOAK collection.  It is a material they used for very few dolls.

Sybarite Chandelier GEN X

The last in the line of Rebel Princesses went live at 10 AM Eastern Time today.
Here are the pictures and description from Superdoll.
Text and photos by Superdoll.

With eyes of viola and pastel grape, arc of attitude brows in double tone ginger. Lids in pale pastel gentian. Lips the colour of dried rose.

Huge pastel auburn blend wig bearing above brow length fringe, in a 'voluptuous' state; cascading down and swirling into waist length big loose curls.

It's a great day for shopping!
Venus had booked her favourite privee haunt across from Dover Street Market, and sent in her florist to replace the ikebana she so doesn't like. For this privvy broad daylight affaire, she chose colour and pattern to make her statement. Bias scaled metalic a line skirt trimmed in sharktooth laser, a simple I WANT A PONY t-shirt, her favourite 'diamond' trimmed pink 'workmans' belt, and her new perriwinkle hose.
Knowing she's a doll and she would not be eating much today, she popped on a few gold coloured bracelets, and giggled her feet into her 'gold' double bow stilettos. Fluffing her curls in the mirror, she flipped it away from the wall to reveal her hidden safe. Upon opening it with he secret code, she reached in and grabbed a handful of bling, and flung a huge big gold 'Tiarra' pendant and her favourite square link chains around her neck. Opening her accessory closets, her fluffy fur and gold geometric bag could not add callories, and it is the perfect size to conceal her 'swan on swan' crown; so she chose it for todays tête-à-tête.
With the knowledge that they had called ahead to cool the aircon, she chose her little diamond trimmed 'chanelised' jacket, slipped it over her shoulders and headed for the door.

Realise she was 'just a little late' already, she told her driver to take the scenic route.
Venus loved to play games on her phone in the car while driving past the iconic sights of London.

Of course she comes with the following standard accessories:
-manic_cure hands (see booklet for hand change instructions)
-booklet
-stand

Jamieshow's Alejandro and Marlena "On Michigan Avenue" Dolls

At the end of May, 2015, the new "On Michigan Ave" Jamieshow dolls debuted. I ordered Alejandro and Marlena at the convention in Chicago. They arrived three days ago.

This Alejandro differs from my other one in that he has facial hair screening. I know they're supposed to have the same sculpt but I see a difference in the nose. My new one appears to have a narrower, longer nose. I guess it's possible that the casting changed a bit. His eyes look different as well. I like them both.
Here are closeups side by side. The new one is on the right. Both are wearing Chewin wigs.

The pink jacket, blue shirt and ripped jeans are all Jamieshow products which were available separately a while back. The quality of these items are far superior to what he came dressed in. Someone reminded me that he is only a basic doll and one can't expect much. What I do expect with a $400. doll is a stand. George Gonzalez, an owner of Jamieshow Dolls, says that the reason the male dolls don't come with stands is because they're anatomically correct. That is not a good reason as far as I'm concerned. All my dolls are on stands unless they're sitting down. I'd never display a resin doll without a stand. His junk doesn't keep the stand from working in any way especially when he's dressed.

Marlena has an unusual look with her very pale resin and sharp features. When I started playing with different wigs, I saw more possibilities. In these photos, she is wearing a Chewin wig meant for Sybarite dolls. Her fashion is a Superdoll outfit called "D-I-V-O-R-C-E."  It fits pretty well except in the bust area. Marlena has a smaller cup size.

She has a look that can kill. With those piercing blue eyes and thin, mean lips she is not a doll for the faint of heart. I enjoyed putting a flowered hat on her. It's so opposite from the vibe she gives off.

PEONIE - GEN X - DD_087 Sybarite Rebel Princess

Today another in the new line of vinyl Sybarite dolls was offered for sale.
Here is the description posted on the Superdoll sales page.

With eyes of sour apple, jetted for attitude brows in chocolate and charcoal with shadow of nude. Lids in translucent soot. Lips the colour of candy with day old pomegranate accent.

Huge auburn blend wig bearing side parting and jaw length fringe, in a 'voluptuous' state; cascading down and swirling into waist length big loose curls.

It's hot outside... maybe a champagne lunch with the gurls?!
Venus had booked the bandstand in Hyde Park, had it cornered off with velvet ropes and sent in her decorators. For this privvy broad daylight affaire, she chose colour and pattern to make her statement. Bias plaid hotpants, a psychedelic halter collared shirt, a hot pink grosgrain tie, and lime all in one suspender hose with attached 'girly socks.
Looking herself up and down in her mirrored dressing room and tugging her shirt tails to peek out her hotpants 'just so', she popped on a few rose coloured bracelets, and giggled as she attached her acid yellow tutu around her waist. Doing a little Prima Diva spin, she placed a red rose and pink fluoro band on her head and flung a huge big gold 'chain & key' around her neck. Opening her accessory closets, her acid yellow handbag screamed 'grab me', so she did.
Not knowing where today may end, she opted for a dark violet base custom floral print jacket trimmed in 'ivy' and huge multicolour stones, slipped on her gold and pink sandals and headed for the door.

As her handmaiden hurried to keep up with her she asked 'did you remember the Vodka?'
Her handmaiden ran off in the opposite direction to call the caterers.

Of course she comes with the following standard accessories:
-manic_cure hands (see booklet for hand change instructions)
-booklet
-stand

Gen-X Precious from Superdoll

I adored her fashion, her accessories and her hair. The spousal unit thought she was scary looking. I didn't care until I stood her next to Eira and her head looked enormous. I was cured of wanting to keep her at that moment.
Of course, many dolls will pale next to the beautiful Eira but this was different. Precious looked ridiculously out of proportion to her own body. Her head is too damn big. Maybe that's the point...big headed, egotistical, rebel princess.

Sybarite Gen-X Mansion and Barbie-like Packaging

Much to my surprise Mansion was delivered by DHL on Memorial Day! I immediately opened the shipper box and was somewhat dismayed to see an angular plastic box wrapped in cellophane.

I know that Superdoll is attempting to stay in business and has produced a vinyl doll to appeal to those who will spend about $400 (give or take) for a doll instead of $700. But, packaging the doll in a plastic fronted box was going too far. At least with Barbie dolls, the box is wrapped in tissue and not cellophane.

Of course she is impossible to photograph through the cellophane. Frustrated, I took it off and the results were not much better.

The box itself has a bendable cardboard back and insert with a cardboard top and bottom that slip in and out of the plastic casing. The flexible plastic casing itself slips off easily.

$400. is not a cheap doll. Integrity packages it's $100. dolls better - so does Mattel.

My doll arrived in an extremely awkward-looking pose (see the third photo above.) It was very distressing and I had to examine her although I did not wish to debox. I straightened the limbs before taking these photos.

I certainly hope Superdoll rethinks their packaging as this is really unacceptable.

Regarding the doll herself, she has a great face and the screening looks very good. Her handbag is adorable and so is the outfit.

New Superdoll Collection Teaser

Today Superdoll Collectables sent out a teaser email to all it's members. The fashion bits below remind me of Geometry's outfit.

"Trust Funds and Fashion Fun inspire our new SUMMER Collection."

The fashion's patterns and colors remind me a little too much of Geometry's outfit. Hmmmm....they sure know how to arouse interest!

On another royal topic.....

I've been watching The Royals on E and the princess, played by Alexandra Park, is quite the rebel.  The costumes are fabulous. The sets, beautiful. The acting is insane and so much fun. Joan Collins showed up in the last episode looking pretty great for 81 years old. So, in between playing with your dolls, watch it!

Superdoll's Solitaire GEN X - DD_085

A few minutes past 1:00 PM EST Superdoll posted Solitaire, their first vinyl Sybarite, for sale on their website. The edition of 75 was sold out in less than 5 minutes.

These are the photos:

I swear I wasn't going to go for her. I'm very happy with my existing resin Sybs and similar 16" dolls. I knew she would be ridiculously expensive for a vinyl doll but after a moment's hesitation, I clicked the dreaded button.

Here is the description, copied directly from the post,  that accompanied the doll:

After years in development we are delighted to present
our ALL NEW Vinyl formula. version T-5 sample.

the DEBUT Generation_X
Clone: 1000 Venus d'Royce
*please note different monitors may show colours differently.

Ginger and marshmallow coloured eyes, zef brows in rust and charcoal with shadow of deep red and muted blacks. Lids in icy translucent white. Lips the colour of blood.

Blonde wig bearing hand rooted centre parting, in a 'bedhead' state with backstage Queen of Hearts playing card set.

2 piece 'shrunken' suit consists amazing miniature tailoring with concealed shoulder pads and pocket kerchief. Pocket flap detail and functioning centre front buttons. 3 button detail to jacket cuffs. Trousers have beltloops, working front slash pockets and bum welts on back.

Further accessories include 'patent' belt, 'patent' B*TCH elongated purse with gold foil interior and the cutest hugest hot pink 'fur' pompom ever!

The piece d'resistance of course is her huge double baguette pillow cut ring that gleams like a solitaire rock in the midnight sky or is it the slither of velvet spot netting she has in her purse?

'Patent' strappy stiletto sandles with the highest heels ever on a sYbarite (sans platform)

Necklace and cuff set in silver 'leather' and chained bead detail.

and of course she comes with the following standard:

-manic_cure hands (see booklet for hand change instructions)
-booklet
-stand

ED:75
In stock and ready to be delivered
Price: £274.00

She's got an intense, angry look about her.  The wig? We'll see. I do hope all Sybarite clothes will fit and that the quality is top notch.

Cost breakdown:
Doll         £274.00 = $421.15
Postage  £39.50    = $ 60.72  (Ridiculous for a vinyl doll unless she gets here in two days.)
Total       £313.50  = $481.87

Do you have any thoughts on why Superdoll seemingly has gone backwards in their production of dolls from beautiful resin to ordinary vinyl?

Modsdoll Aurum and Kingdom Doll Brunel

I have been playing with two of my new 16" resin dolls. And that's a good thing because I vowed to play more. Less accumulating; more playing. Seriously, it's not hard to sit in front of a computer for hours pining over dolls I don't have when all the while, I have gorgeous dolls upstairs. That's a sickness.

Aurum is growing on me. I almost sold her. She is wearing a Ficon gown and Fashion Royalty earrings.

I love Brunel!
In these photos she is wearing a Sybarite sweater and Ficon jeans which are too large in the hips. The rhinestone belt (Facets) helps to pull them in. The poodle is needle felted from an artist whose name I don't remember. I've had him a long time.  Boots - eBay.
