What's A MIM?

I opened an email from the MiM company only to see this EEK image:

Then I laughed. I had spoken months ago with Paulette Goodreau about these clever dolls,  I'm just now seeing the end results of her vision. These dolls are intended for children as opposed to collecting adults; however,  I think they are definitely worth mentioning on this blog.

MIM comes as a basic doll for $89.  She is 16" tall, ball-jointed and comes dressed as shown on the left below.
Basic vinyl colors are Peach, Bronze B and Bronze A. The doll comes packaged in a coordinating sleeping bag with pillow.

You can add optional extra eyes, wigs, outfits, accessories and a mermaid body or a horse body.If you were to choose one of every option, your doll would add up to $202.00. If the outfits and wigs are anything like the Goodreau outfits were, they are a great quality.

Jason Wu and Jason Wu

I've posted many images of designer runway fashions reinterpreted (copied) for dolls. Here it is again only both are Jason Wu. On the left a Spring 2012 Runway RTW gown and on the right the 2011 convention Veronique, aptly named, Air Apparent doll.
Beautifully done.

The Puki Pukis

I've been working on a piece for FDQ and these are a few miscellaneous images from the aftershoot. Aftershoot?

In the first pic I wanted to show the comparison between an Amelia and a Puki Puki. Amelia is slimmer and a little shorter. Their heads seem to be the same size. Amelia doesn't belong to me so I couldn't remove the wig to check. I think I would like Amelia much more if the resin wasn't shiny. It doesn't feel like the same quality as the Fairyland product because of the finish. The legs are on the kicky side and it's hard to get them to stand. They seem to be extremely popular and they are lots of fun to photograph. They fit right in with my 1/12th scale room boxes and props!

The knitted items are from my favorite eBay knitter.

Amelia is in the House

I have two tiny house guests for a few days and they're having a great time. They have the Rudettes to play with and lots of toys. Here they are sitting on a perfect little couch, behaving like little ladies. How long will that last?

These dolls are smaller than my PukiPuki gals! Look at those teensy hands. They're very cute.
On the left is Basic Amelia ($145.) and on the right, Amelia - Cute As a Button ($160.) They're from Wilde Imagination and designer, Joe Petrollese. This little doll is a resin BJD, has interchangeable eyes and is wigged. There are several outfits and accessories available at Wilde Imagination. Free shipping until December 19.

New Sybarites

Sorry boys and girls...I was informed by another collector that this is not an acceptable practice.

Old Red (not related to *Old Yeller)

Tonner's Tiny Kitty doll was the start of  fashion doll collecting for me.  I was browsing through my Tiny Kitty archives today and came upon a nested folder called Red-Black_Outfits.  A few years ago I was on a crusade to buy every red fashion for these 10" charmers that I could find. I was quite successful. That year I did a really cute display during Christmas.

Some newer ones:
