MetroDolls Proxy Bidding - NOW!

For those who cannot attend who want a chance to own one or more of the amazing artist creations donated, proxy bidding will continue until Friday, October 2, 2015.

All the information on how to bid is here: http://metrodolls.blogspot.com/p/proxy.html

Below are the beautiful items available or proxy bidding. Most of the items are the complete dressed doll. In some cases, the offering is for the wig, the jewelry, the outfit or a combination of those.
The link above will take you to the MetroDolls page which has all the information you need to make decisions and bids.

I see a three items I'd love to add to my own collection.  Hopefully I will remember to keep track of the bids so I can report back on the amount each item brought in.

If money were no object, what would you like to own?

Mel Odom's JAMIEshow Madra "Spotted in Manhattan"

In a very unusual move, George put this Jamieshow Madra on sale for 20% off during the Labor Day weekend. Her price dropped from $525. to $420. which caused me to take a second look. Actually, the main reason I became interested was that I had seen so many gorgeous photos of her posted by collectors who already had her.
I went back and forth with the decision for about 24 hours and finally decided to go for it. She arrived yesterday and I'm happy I purchased her.
Her face paint is perfect. The resin is the same silky material used for all the Jamieshow dolls. She will make a great model for my collection of Gene Marshall clothing.
There was an issue with her necklace. I sent a photo to George and within a few hours I received a courteous response in which he told me he'd send a replacement out ASAP. As always, the customer service from his company has been excellent.
Madra comes with a ring that matches her other jewelry. It's huge. It could be worn on a chain.
The dress will need a light pressing as the train is packed folded vertically and you won't see much of the leopard print unless you smooth it out a bit.
I also recommend putting pantyhose on the doll as the strap of the shoes may stain. There's a faint line across one of my doll's ankles. You could also coat the inside of the strap with a strip of something flexible.

In these photos, Madra is posing on a Horsman chaise. The table in the background is CED.
I have her redressed already. Now I have to pick out some wigs.

Dolly News Updates

Convention season is almost upon us and there are things going on all over.

Kingdom Doll announced that they will be working with renowned doll artist/manufacturer Doug James. They're not saying what Doug will be doing exactly and that will be an interesting revelation. Fashions, perhaps? KD states that "Doug is the owner of JDJ International, creator of the "S: series of resin fashion dolls as well as the popular CED 19" fashion doll line. In addition, James has designed...for the Madame Alexander Doll Company, Integrity Toys, L.L. Knickerbocker and Ashton Drake."
Also, stay tuned for the announcement about the release of the next doll, Hadrian.

Integrity Toys 2014 "Gloss" Convention sold out in two days. That's probably a record setting sell- out. There is a wait list. Link will take you there.
The second W Club exclusive doll was made available for pre-ordering by Club members only. She is the ultra popular Poppy with the favored so-called "Bergdorf" screening. (Right)

Why not release a redo of the Bergdorf doll? I have seen ridiculous prices for this gal. I sold a few for ridiculous prices myself. It is a very pretty doll.

Tonner Doll Company  continues to try to offload unsold goods at retail prices by calling them Warehouse Finds. Seriously, how messed up is their warehouse?
If these items were sold out, there wouldn't be any for sale. We do have brains.
Lady Arabella was the convention souvenir. Carmen was the special optional purchase doll. None of these is at a reduced price but if you still want one, go for it.  Ordering is by telephone only. To place an order call 845-339-2960.
I've written many times about how selling convention dolls shortly after a convention detracts from that special feeling of getting a truly exclusive doll. It's disrespectful to those who paid to go to the convention.

The Junky Spot announced Jun Planning's Groove Pullip "Make It Own" blank Pullip Kit.

This looks like fun and the price is so right at $34.99. I want one but do I have the motivation? Not really.
Made from ABS plastic.
Completely unpainted doll with disassembled head, ready for customization.

Comes with: body, head, eyelids, eyelashes, transparent eye chips, and screws.
You can paint the eye chips whatever color you want.
Measurements:
Height: 31cm
Bust: 10cm
Waist: 6.8cm
Hips: 10.7cm
Head: 24.5cm

Takes a size 9-10 wig (not included)

Doug James and Doll Show in New Jersey

I made my way over to Teaneck, New Jersey today to attend the Doll Show at the Rothman Center at Fairleigh Dickinson University. I set my clocks ahead last night and set my alarm for 7:00 AM. When I awoke at 8:30AM I discovered that I had set my clock to PM instead of AM. Oh well.  Lucky for me it wasn't a missed flight or a job interview. My friends arrived pretty much at the same time so I was OK.
I'd never been to this show which takes place every few months. Most of the booths are selling vintage dolls and accessories. I love the truly vintage items but I dare not even think about going there with my collecting. There are several dealers selling modern fashion dolls.
A bunch of us crazy collectors gathered at a large table to eat lunch and have a show and tell! Dolls were passed around and there were lots of oohs and aahs to be heard. I had a great time and will definitely be attending again. If you are in the general area - NY, NJ, CT, PA - think about coming.

I was very happy to finally meet Doug James in person. For those who are not familiar with his work, Doug James worked with the late Laura Meisner for the L.L. Knickerbocker Co. to design and create

You can find many images of these dolls on the Yahoo group by the same name. I have a nice collection of them. They are interesting and very pretty dolls but their bodies are stiff without articulation. Many collectors dress their Tyler and Ellowyne dolls in the clothing which is mod 60's era styling.

And now he has created Seine, Sayer and Sebastian Fashion Dolls.

See the link for more images of these new dolls, their fashions and wigs that are currently available.

Here is Doug himself holding Sebastian for me as I took this picture.  (At least I think this doll is Sebastian.)  If you like a male doll with a body that says hunk, this may be the doll for you! He is anatomically correct and fine to look at, almost as cute as Doug. :-)

Getting back to the doll show...I did not bring a camera because I didn't want the event to turn into work for me but I couldn't resist taking a few shots with my iPhone.

Click on this link to see the pictures I took today and remember they are made with a phone. Be kind. Hehe.
