BFC Membership for 2012 Opens Today

Membership for the 2012 season in the Barbie Fan Club opened today for current members. New members may begin to register on February 15. This year all members will received a Silkstone dress form.
That's a big step up from a mouse pad. Of course you will also get your membership card.
Every 3 months you get a $20. credit towards a purchase. There have been occasions when it was more than $20. You cannot save up your credits as each expires at the end of the quarter in which it is granted.

Membership is $24.95. This year I was charged $2. tax for the first time. Soon I will have to pay tax on the air I breathe.

  1. I tried to get my membership but they're saying they won't be available until March 15th. Sad face.

  2. Oooh. A dress form. So giving. LOL.

I was considering joining. I haven't been a member before, and I do like Barbie. Thanks for easy-to-understand lay out of the discounts and what it all means. I think that may halt my desire to join is the really high shipping costs to Canada. Mattel apparently believes that Canada is located somewhere near the moon. (Never mind that we have Mattel Canada, located here in Ontario)

    Thanks Ms. Gold!

    1. Based on my experience, BFC’s shipping charge is the least compare to Tonner and Integrity. I found that most of the time the shipping I was charged by Mattel was lower compare to the regular postage rate. Since last year, BFC also started to charge a little bit extra so that the shipment can get to Canada much quicker without having to wait for the custom check. The little extra BFC charge is actually less than if you were have to pay the custom, which is $8.50 plus 12%. I am quite happy with that change and really hope that Integrity and Tonner would offer that service one day. So far I find that Integrity’s shipping charge is the highest among the three and really hope there will be some changes in the future. Sometimes, it is not the price of the doll stops me from buying, it is the shipping charge.

  3. I have been a member for the last 3 years and it has been great..as of last year, shipping charges to Canada have nearly doubled and now I get charged a 'fee' per doll as well, if I re-call about $2, on top of the increased shipping...combine that with customs from my country, and it might just not be worth it anymore..that $30 costs about $60 or more by the time it gets to me...so I may try to buy my dolls here in Canada. That will limit what dolls I will be able to purchase. Sadly, it will cut back on my Barbie purchases drastically! So I am still trying to decide if it worth it or not! But I do love my Barbies!

    1. I'm sure you know collectors who live in the States. Perhaps one or more of them will help you out by becoming your shipping buddy. Give it a try.
