Paul Pham's Numina Nimbus

The latest Numina went live last week and sold out in about a minute.  She is an edition of 50 and cost $700. Paul's dolls are gaining popularity with every new release.

Here is the description from Paul's site:
Pale skintone, blue-grey eyes with stormy charcoal shadow and matte nude lips. Long loosely curled strawberry blonde wig by Ilaria. Sky blue silk satin trench, lined in pale silver silk habotai with metallic sequin/beading detail at shoulders and pockets, belted with a pieced "leather" obi. Underneath is a soft pink chiffon and metallic lace slip dress. Completing the look, a pair of dark grey thigh high "suede" wedge boots.

Ajuma is in the House!

Ajuma, Paul Pham's newest Numina (LE50) has arrived in time for the holidays. She has definitely cheered me up.

Her hard cap made by Chewin is beyond unique.
I've had several Numina and always wound up trading them for other dolls due to the difficulty I had with the knee joint. But a little birdie told me I could wire the knees which will firm them up and give me the stability I desire in a BJD. I'm going to have to do the same with my Ficon Leonie.

Pants pockets are trimmed with zipper teeth.
I love the colors she is wearing.
Pink Suede Boots
Numina have the largest feet of all my BJDs.

Fooling around with Photoshop.

Annual Facets Picnic

The weather turned out to be glorious for the annual picnic put on by Marcia Friend at her home in New Jersey. This was our fourth time and although the skies ahead looked ominous for a while, it was a sunny and mild day to sit outside and mingle with other doll collectors.
A dense line of clouds appeared over the bridge.
If you haven't been to Marcia's let me just say that seeing her doll collection is like going to a modern fashion doll museum. The dolls aren't just hanging out in cases, they are arranged in artistic tableaus with the finest furniture and props. While most of her collection on display consists of 16" dolls, smaller and larger dolls are included as well. In fact, her Cissy dolls are just to die for.
You might get a tiny idea from these shots:

Don't forget that you can click on any image to enlarge it.

Guests are invited to bring dolls along to display.

Paul Pham brought a OOAK Numina to display whose photo I have previously published.   Paul was surrounded most of the time by admiring collectors.

Adrian brought two of his Numina.

And there was food. Lots of yummy food. Rudy was a good boy. He stayed on the cool grass, under a table in the shade.

A fun part of the afternoon is the "free table." People send and/or bring doll stuff for this event. The crazed collectors (yes, I am part of that group) are held back until the GO signal is given and a free-for-all ensues. I was actually pushed very hard by a man whose name I don't even know. Some people are very serious about getting their free stuff. :-)

Our hostess:

But wait; there's more! Door prizes galore. Many were provided by collectors and many were provided by Wilde Imagination.  The prizes were very generous and lots of lucky attendees went home with great stuff.

It's always a fun day when spent with other doll people.

Superdoll Abbe Lane on Sale Tomorrow

Marl announced today that "Wolf Whistles,"  a new creation from the makers of Sybarite dolls, will be available exclusively at marlbe.com tomorrow, September 1 at Noon, Eastern Time.

Here is the text of the announcement:

A leopard never changes her spots… why would she when she looks this fabulous?!   The divine Abbe looks cool and refreshed for her impromptu beach front press call. 'who called the press? Indeed!'   Simply side parted wig in a twisted updo, matching leopard corseted swimsuit, chiffon waist slashed wrap and leopard stilettos! Yes! Stiletto heels on the beach!  Course weave hessian beach bag with chain straps and divine hand embroidered detailing.  Includes doll stand and applied eyelashes. Please note: this doll comes in 2 face sculpts. She will have either a closed or open mouth! LE 50 each

I prefer the closed mouth, but I would have to see her in person as it is hard to tell from the pictures. I read that the Abbe doll does not use the current Sybarite body.

I am perplexed as to why there are still nearly 40 Neurotica Sybarites remaining. (No it doesn't say that on the website but there is a way to figure it out.) I love mine. She is gorgeous. Her fashions is stunning. Her face is divine. Perhaps people were put off by the tattoos or the unusual hairstyle or the high price of $820. (EEK) I'm thrilled to have mine.

It was a very busy week in the 16" fashion doll world. Today Ajuma went on sale. I scored one. How could I resist? She is just magnificent.

Look for me in the Poor House but at least I will have my dolls.

PFDF Numina and Barbie

Sherryl from Arizona posted these two pictures on Prego earlier of the event Barbie and Paul Pham's new Numina.

Barbie is called Le Belle Epoque. She is a vinyl, non articulated doll LE 375. I'm sure there will be quite a few floating around on eBay shortly.

Paul's doll has been mentioned previously on this blog. She is gorgeous as is her wig and fashion.
I do not think you will find this on eBay - ever.

New Basic Devon

My new Devon had some time in front of the camera yesterday. She's dressed in a little fashion from Emilia Nieminen's "Torn" collection. The platinum wig is by Cheryl Wood.

Here she is in her original wig which, by the way, is way too large for her head. Even with a wig cap, it doesn't stay on.
The Numina have amazinly beautiful bodies; however, their stability needs to be improved. The joints at the hips are loose and the knee joints bend from side to side making posing quite a task. In the full image above, I had to put her on a stand and Photoshop the stand out of the picture.
I don't know how to wire a BJD to control this type of problem. Perhaps a reader can offer information because I want to keep her. I have many gorgeous fashions for her to model.
