Visit to the Tonner Store

When I lived in Woodstock, NY, it was a 15 minute drive to the Tonner store. Now, it takes about 3 hours and doesn't happen very often. This past Saturday was the first time I've seen the store since it moved to Wall St. in Kingston.
It's always fun to spend time chatting with Dr. Noreen. We could talk for hours and cure all the world's ills.
For those that don't know my story with Noreen, here it is. It was 14 or 15 years ago when I went to my first Tonner trunk sale. It was held out-of-doors at the old building on Lucas Avenue. I was really just beginning my collecting as I had accumulated a few Tiny Kitty dolls prior to then. I saw 16" Tylers, Emmes and a few others for the first time that day and met Noreen. She predicted what was to come as far as my collecting would go. Who knew? It's a very fond memory.

These are iPhone pictures. Please remember that you can click to enlarge them.
Enjoy!

Tonner Fall/Winter 2010 Line ~ Part 1

I'll begin with the doll that I think is the worst of the lot. That would be the new 13" Supergirl. LE 1000 $139.99
Property of Tonner Doll Company
Why wasn't her hair combed properly for her photo debut? What is the lump at the crown of her head?  I have the feeling that Storm Photo, Tonner's professional photographer, did not take this picture.

OMG. Her face is so large, I can't believe it.  She ties with the event exclusive Little Miss Revlon for the huge jaw look I find quite unattractive.

It's a shame because the 16" Supergirl shown below is my absolute favorite female sculpt of Tonner's to-date!

As part of the Cami & Jon Collection there is now a male named Andy Mills, Event Planner. This is an adorable young man with a cool nerdy look.

His description states that he's got the 17" Matt O'Neill Body, blue eyes and wigged brunette hair.
LE 500; Retail Price is  $179.99.

BLACK CANARY™: Blonde Bombshell

This doll needs to live here! I could just drive over to the Tonner Company Store and get her but I am so accustomed to getting Tonner dolls at a discount from dealers, that I have resisted since she came out. The retail (that's the only way to get her) price of each doll is $159. plus tax (I live in the tax kingdom of New York). She would cost me about $172.50. They are all limited to 200. Do I wait for a sale? Maybe I'll just go over there and pet her.

The entire line of Women of Power is so appealing. The idea that these gorgeous-looking, beautifully dressed women have superpowers intrigues me.

Below
Kara of Krypton (Supergirl) aka The Girl of Steel and cousin to Kal-El,  Mera, Queen of Atlantis who is married to Oris (aka Aquaman,) Black Canary (The Blonde Bombshell) aka Dinah Lance.
