April Purse of the Month Collection

Here is the latest release from Diana and Janet.

Denim is a timeless favorite, especially when it's been re-created with Uptown Style!   It's our theme for April and there's a fun, fashionable look for every doll.

Our handbag options have both been created in denim-colored leather.  The Michael Kors tribute is to the Ava bag, with its sweet flowers, bold silver logo and chain and leather handle.  32.00  For a bigger, dazzling purse,  choose the Prada Bling bag!  Both front and back are heavily decorated in white studs and rhinestones, and the front sports a large logo.  36.00

The Tote Set is softly elegant.  Stone-washed denim with silver decoration, it also features a white, feminine design that resembles lace.  And it includes a long scarf.  30.00 / set

The separates this month are simple and sweet.  A crisp cotton shirt in raspberry pinstripe also includes a belt.  35.00  Wear it over a pink bodysuit (25.00) and finish the look with a lovely stone-wash skirt, with white floral embroidery.  30.00

I love the look that Janet has created for the Elite Ensemble.  Stonewash denim with white floral embroidery makes up the Jacket and skirt, with careful planning to make the most of the design.  Also included are a pink bodysuit, tote set, shoes, earrings, belt and your choice of handbag.  150.00 + shipping

All items shown in 12" can be upsized to 16" for a modest increase.

I adore that Prada bag but I'm not a big fan of the fashions. That mix of pink and blue doesn't work and the stying of the jacket is kind of boring.

Purse of the Month Club

For several years Diana Wieler and her sister, Janet Ellis, have been creating monthly doll-sized handbags and coordinating outfits. I have posted about it before http://terrigoldphoto.blogspot.com/search?q=Purse+of+the+Month+Club and in many of my photos one of their bags shows up on the arm of a doll.
Their business name is La Boutique and this month's offering has a nautical theme for it's miniature Chanel bags. These are just adorable!
These are suitable for 1/6 scale dolls (12") but you can ask if it's possible to have it made in 1/4 scale for 16" dolls.

Purse of the Month Club

I've often been asked how to join the Purse of the Month Club and I thought this would be a good subject for a blog post.
Every month, sisters Diana Wieler and Janet Ellis, send an email out to their mailing list with the Purse of the Month offerings. It's not just a purse, although you can buy just the purse.
They also offer coordinate ensembles, separates, accessories and a higher category called "Elite."

They do take requests to a certain extent as to size of a 12" doll body and length of skirt. I collected their bags for approximately three years and I adore them. They are made exceptionally well with wonderful fabrics and perfect little hardware. Now they're also offered in a scale to suit 16" dolls as well as 12" dolls.

Here is a very old photo showing bag, purse and shoes. I believe the outfit was also something they made.

This month's purses are influenced by Lulu Guinness bags. They are precious! Either bag is $32. plus shipping.

You might like the Lulu Library Tote that comes with a chiffon scarf for $30.

The Beautiful Veronique Perrin Fashion Royalty Doll

I'm still adding Vero dolls to my collection. This "Close-Up" Veronique called Morning Frost was released in 2003. She was an edition of 1000 and originally sold for $29.99.

Recently I was lucky enough to pick up the head for $35. Fully dressed, a mint condition doll like this will go from $99-$125. After washing and restoring her hair to it's original beauty, I put the head on a tall FR body.

The replacement body I used was from one of my older dolls and was extremely wobbly at the waist and hips. While that can't actually be repaired, it can be controlled to a certain degree. I put pantyhose on the doll. That helps a great deal. A slim skirt is essential as it holds the legs together.

The dress is a La Boutique as is the leather handbag.

She's as good as new and as beautiful as any Fashion Royalty doll.

Graphic Language Adele

Graphic Language Adele is one of the most popular and beautiful Fashion Royalty Adeles. She was issued in 2004 dressed in an argyle pattern sweater, black tights, black pumps with gold heels. Her jewelry was rhinestone studs and a pink plastic cuff bangle with a W monogram embedded with 3 rhinestones. She came with an adorable pink round travel case. GL Adele was the first Adele with the new Adele sculpt. She was on a straight arm body. One thousand of these dolls were issued at a retail price of $59.99.

In the photo above, Adele has been given a tall articulated body and is wearing "Sugar Plum" a Dressmaker Details creation. Believe it or not, I have removed two layers of this gown and it's still pouffy and huge. Unfortunately, the gown is being held closed with a safety pin because they were all made too tight for the large busted FR body. I bought this gown when it first came out and I just couldn't get over how much it looked like a crocheted or tulle toilet-paper-cover-doll that my students' parents would make for me at Christmas when I was a teacher. I returned the gown at that time. This time I got it at a very reduced price on eBay with the intention of cutting it down. It looks nice on Adele when she is seated like this.
Jewelry is by Bev Shahab.

Purse of the Month Feature Article in FDQ

This article was one of my first and at the time the most ambitious one I had undertaken. I had already collected many of the POM's that had been issued but I was missing the equivalent of almost an entire year's worth. I put out the request to buy or borrow from the collectors out there and three trusting and generous souls mailed me several handbags so I could photograph them.
Clicking on each picture will enlarge it somewhat.
