Robert Tonner Revives Evangeline Ghastly and Ellowyne

I was pondering whether or not to put a question mark at the end of the title for this post. This is a surprising announcement by the Tonner Doll Co. I thought the TDC was finished and had been replaced by Phynn & Aero.

Released yesterday was one gorgeous Evangeline, dressed all in red and two Ellowynes.

Drop Dead Red Evangeline @ $235. Limited Edition 175.
Her head is a new mold and she has a new body as well.  I think she's pretty fabulous looking.

Two Ellowyne Wilde dressed dolls made a debut.

Ruffled Up Ellowyne @ $225. LE 150

Wistful Rose Ellowyne @ $225. LE 150

She has a newly molded head and the RTB101 body. I have no idea what that body looks like.

Some other dolls I found on the Phyn & Aero website:

Nancy Ann Abbott, UFDC Meal Event Exclusive Companion $225 LE 75
Nancy Ann Abbott was, in real life, an actress and dress designer. She started the Nancy Ann Storybood Company in 1938 and was extremely successful.

American Beauty $235. LE200
This is Annora. I'd like to see her close up.  She, too, is on the RTB-101.
The dress does not impress me. It's been done over and over. The doll's face looks pretty.

Apparently body sizes have been standardized. That's pretty great for those collectors who like to switch clothes between dolls but it's a major change. Evangeline is now 16.5" tall.

RTB-101 Body Measurements:
Bust - 7 1/4
Waist - 4 7/8"
Hip at Top Joint - 6 1/2"
Hip at widest part of thigh - 7 1/4"
Waist to Knee - 5 1/8"
Waist to Floor - 10 3/8"
Divot to Waist - 3 1/4"
Shoulder Across Back - 3 1/4"
Arm to Wrist Joint - 5"
Overall - 16 1/2"

Wilde Imagination: New for 2015 and a Bit of Yoko

If this doll doesn't look like Yoko Ono then I don't know......
"Bright Moon"   LE350    $229.00   In Stock
Evy's gown is stunning but just more of the same - lots of fabric, black, long, sweeping things going on. I think the glasses are a great touch even if they're out of character.
I love Yoko's leather embellished jacket.  Yoko was 80 in 2013 when this photo was made. Not bad, eh?

There are nine new dressed EG dolls. Among the nine is a Mortimer, an Angelique and an intense-looking Parnilla in a gorgeous sequined, faux fur trimmed coat. I use the word 'intense' in an effort to be diplomatic regarding my opinion of her face.
Parnilla "Time To Go"  LE350   $219.00   In Stock
Nine new outfits, too, are part of this release and only two of them are black. The prices are all under $100. for the new outfits, except for one.
This is my favorite. It's only a bustier and pair of shoes.
"Midnight Silver Set"   LE250  $69.00   Shipping 1/26
*************************

There are 11 new dressed Ellowynes which include a new male character, Penn.

Most of the new Ellowyne line offerings are only sketches.

 *************************

Out of all the other offerings, I must comment on Sad Sally. This line of 7" resin dolls is so darn adorable and highly tempting. I'm trying to be strong as they fit nowhere in my collection. But just look at these.

"Pretty Sad" is a new release. "It's My Hat" is not.
"Pretty Sad"     $260     Shipping 1/26     Edition Size not specified
"It's My Hat"    $285.00  In Stock  Edition Size not specified
One of the outfits available: (This is not a new one.)
"Happy to Be Sad" (Outfit Only)  LE200  $50.00  In Stock

Wilde's First-Ever Virtual Factory Sale

Are we excited yet?

I bought my first Evangeline at a real factory sale and I was hooked for a while. (It was the old body's awful posing that did me in.) Now I have just one new Evangeline with a bunch of outfits and one Ellowyne. And that's it. Not that I don't look often.

I'd love a Sad Sally just because she is so adorable. I have never held one so I don't know how well she poses. But...I have learned how to wire my dolls so that problem will go away - maybe.
This doll is a basic and retails for $250. She's 7" tall - or should I say 7" short? Resin BJD, changeable eyes and wig. I have a feeling that I won't be able to get one on sale if they even have any for sale. Sigh.

If this were an outfit, I'd buy it for my beautiful Ello, but it's a dressed doll and I don't want another doll.
Great Depression Ellowyne $135.15 (End of edition Special)
Perhaps someone reading this will do a split with me???

Looking for an outfit for my Evangeline, this looked good at first.
Candlelight at Night (Outfit Only) $110.
Harking back to a topic I've covered before, here is one of the reasons manufacturers should not use glitter:
Click on the image to enlarge it and tell me what those sparkling dots are on her black dress. Yep. It's glitter on the dress.  It is probably on the doll, the photographer, his work table and everywhere else. Ugh. The shoes are described as silver glittery. Why doesn't the description say the robe has applied glitter? Because no one wants it. Here is the description from the website:
Featuring a long black dress of shantung trimmed in tulle beneath a glowing robe of sheer fabric and sequins with matching tulle trim and shantung sleeve cuffs, this ensemble is sure to light up any dark and dreary night! The outfit is complete with matching black hat garnished with feathers and tulle ribbons at the back, and a soft veil. Silver glittery shoes finish the look. Splendid for those night vigils! LE 350
This post started out as an announcement about the virtual factory sale and turned into a rant about glitter.  In any event, I think there will be chaos on the ordering site. So many people will be trying to buy stuff that the server will become paralyzed. That's been my experience with these virtual factory sales no matter who the manufacturer is. They just don't have enough band width.

Keep your expectations low and you won't be disappointed. If you get to buy something at a price you like, that's great!

Good luck, everyone.

March 24, 2014. At approximately 12:10 PM EDT

Tonner: 75th Anniversary Collection - Wizard of Oz

Tonner revealed five new Oz family dolls. This time the twist is that they are all on the 19" Wilde Imagination Evangeline body.
Have they done an Amelia sized Oz yet?
Oz lovers who also love big-headed dolls will go for this collection.

Castle Stroll - Outfit

$139.99

GLINDA THE GOOD WITCH™

$249.99

WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST

$249.99

Absolutely WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST

$149.99

The fifth doll was a sketch of a basic Glinda. Apparently the photo wasn't ready because it says that the doll is available to ship.

I understand it from the company's point of view why stands are not included with these dolls. It's not like finding a stand for 19" dolls is easy. The Evangeline stand is a good stand and for dolls priced like these, the stand should be included.

"My Odd Life" Parnilla from Wilde Imagination

My Odd Life Parnilla (resin)
The title of the doll might have been My Odd Face Parnilla.  Seriously, this gal looks like an alien.

By comparison, Evangeline has begun to look normal. "Past Life" Evangeline is, in fact, quite pretty.

The Tonner Sale

Yesterday my husband, dog and I traveled to Kingston, NY. We checked into the Hampton Inn and then met our daughter for a bite. On the way back to the hotel I suggested that we drive past the Tonner building on Wall St. to find out when the parade was taking place. Guess what? We arrived 10 minutes before the parade. That was a surprise and also the reason I didn't have my camera as it was back at the hotel. It was raining and very cold but we saw costumed Tonner staff leading the parade to the sound of bagpipes which scared the living daylights out of Rudy (the loud bagpipes scared him, not the Tonner staff.)  And when he saw the Cat in Hat in front of the store today, he wasn't too happy either.

The one smiling is my husband. Look at Rudy and the way he's looking at the costumed guy. Too funny.

Back to the sale.

This morning was the big sale at the Holiday Inn. The usual suspects were in attendance...those of us collectors from the tri-state area and now, Pennsylvania, a few Canadians and I guess the rest were locals. The ballroom had big round tables piled high with bagged, dressed dolls. In cartons around the room were bagged outfits and some boxed props. Those in the know practiced the grab and look later technique. One collector actually had her entire family outfitted with large bags into which they were instructed to take everything they could. It was fun and I am very happy with my gets. There were a few things I was disappointed to find out wouldn't fit any of my dolls - such as DeeAnna Denton's outfits, but I can sell those.
One doll I was happy to find was Neo Tokyo. I went knowing that I would be looking for him. I guess he wasn't that popular because there were many of him available.

I also got a beautiful Antoinette. I didn't even know she was Antoinette at first. I love her.

I've redressed her in one of the outfits I got.
In the background you can see one of my older Antoinettes wearing another new fashion.
I found a 13" Simone Rouge who is very pretty in person and will be the only other 13" companion my Bana Migdal has.

I picked up a bunch of Tyler Boutique tops and a bunch of NuMood tops and skirts.

Back at the store after the sale, collectors were invited to have Robert (as handsome as ever) sign their dolls and view the new Dr. Seuss dolls.  The rest of the Tonner staff was there to chat and help collectors in their pursuit of wonderful dolls.

I took a few pictures of the displays while Rudy was licking as many faces as possible.
There were many willing victims.

I want the Reflections of Beauty Mirror. Please send me one.

Woefully Romantic Ellowyne. Love her outfit!!!

Have you seen the new bed in the Ellowyne line? It's divine and called Ennui Dreams.

One of the packages waiting for me when I arrived home contained the Bugged collection from Superfrock.

A good dolly weekend? Yes.

Happy Hanukkah!

Ghosts: Here Today; Gone Tomorrow

Photo Property of Barbie.Com
I was a little surprised that the Haunted Beauty Ghost Barbie sold out so quickly. She was released on 10/11/12 and is gone. The doll was a direct exclusive gold label and retailed for $100. So what was the big deal?
First of all, she's just in time for Halloween. Secondly, there's a cool video featuring Bill Greening discussing the design and creation of the doll. Thunder, lightning and wind along with eerie music punctuate the video. A great mock-up of a  haunted room shows the doll in all of her dead splendor.
Good marketing.
In reality, the doll is just another 11.5" semi-articulated piece of vinyl (what else is new?) that may or may not arrive looking like the promo sans haunted house and music.

The minute I saw her she reminded me of Tonner's Galadriel doll.

She also resembled another Tonner doll that was a centerpiece at the 2010 Halloween Convention. This doll was called "Welcome to the Here-after."

Tonner's Ghost of Christmas Past was a unique rendition of a ghost. The fashion is fabulous, detailed and a huge cut above the stereotypical ghost outfits.

So if you are morose over missing out on the ho-hum Barbie Ghost and you wish to indulge your morbid tastes, have a look at these ghost dolls.

Then there's always the good old standby Living Dead Dolls.

Isn't Evangeline Ghastly dead? They're not saying but if you read her back story,* she's must be. She doesn't know she's dead...
*(Inspired by Tim Burton’s The Corpse Bride, The Addams Family, and even Barbra Streisand, Evangeline comes to you straight from the attic of Barkley Manor located in Ipswich, England, across from the local cemetery.)
