12-11-07 Gene

I've added several dolls to my collection since my last post but haven't taken many photographs. The most surprising addition is a Gene doll. I liked her ever since seeing her last February '07 at FAO. She was one of my Chanukah/Christmas/Birthday gifts from Bob. Along with her came one of the new articulated Tiny Kitty dolls. Meh. I will not be collecting them. Their hair is hard to style. This one came with hard curls all over the place. I had to wash them out and then I tried to boil her hair straight. I'm wondering if saran is used for these dolls' hair. I think not.
I bought the convention centerpiece Erin and last season's basic Veronique. And there are so many more coming.

10-26-07 Agnes, Kyori, Vanessa

The picture posted above is Agnes in A Brighter Side Kyori's peignoir and lingerie. The FAO Kyori giftset is IMHO the best gift set ever. The doll is beautiful; the clothes are gorgeous.

Below, Kyori is seen in her pale yellow gown which is embellished with sequins and feathers.

In Bloom Vanessa is wearing the sheath and coat from the giftset. Not shown is an amazing metallic gold handbag embellished with faceted stones all around.

10-24-07 True Royalty

Vanessa #12 is in the house. Now I have all of them. There's going to be a Vanessa reunion. Rumors are flying that the 'queen' is very unhappy.

Ghost of Christmas Past

I couldn't resist ordering Tonner's Ghost of Christmas Past! She is unusual as far as her facial screening but she still has a hint of a smile which could have been eliminated. Smiling ghosts are for cartoons. But....I love her ethereal outfit. The body itself is very, very stiff and difficult to pose. Perhaps I am used to the floppiness of the Fashion Royalty bodies.
On that topic, some of my dolls are all but impossible to pose upright! It's a real pain. Someone posted a fix which involved putting leather strips into the joint between the hip and the thigh. It's a good idea.
Yesterday Jason Wu gave a 30 minute interview on the W Club board. I posed the question about the loosely jointed bodies and he responded that after playing with the bodies they are likely to loosen. My question did not specify that brand new dolls - right out of the box - were floppy. I wonder if he really doesn't know about this. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps we were just supposed to comment on his artistry and ask questions about future dolls. That's what everyone else did. Oh well. My comments on his artistry are in the form of the dollars I spend on the dolls and the time I spend photographing them.
