2010 IFDC Convention Souvenir and Companion Doll

The two dolls presented on Saturday night to attendees are based on characters from Alice in Wonderland. They are being considered part of the Nu.Fantasy collection but will be outside of Japan.

The souvenir doll, "The Red Queen", uses the previously issued Fashion Royalty Tatyana face mold.  Her gown is red tafffeta with black tulle and beaded embellishment on the bodice. She is called "Checkmate." LE 300.

The companion doll called "Curiouser and Curiouser" is a take off on the Alice character. She uses the Gavin Dynamite Girl sculpt.

For those of us who are used to expecting Fashion Royalty dolls, the landscape has changed. The upcoming "Dark Romance" convention is not called the Jason Wu Event/Convention; it's the Integrity Toys Convention with Jason Wu. It's interesting to watch as the company changes.

After a very long wait for approval, the likeness of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter doll has been approved and is now available for purchase. The doll retails for $224.99. Edition size is 500.
The amount and quality of detail is tremendous. Here is Tonner's description:
17" Matt Body w/ Green Eyes and Unique Pale Skintone
TARRANT is the quintessential MAD HATTER! Brought to life by none-other-than Johnny Depp, TARRANT - THE MAD HATTER features an extraordinary likeness of the film's most ludicrous character, and showcases one of Tonner's most incredibly detailed costumes to date. He arrives wearing a soft cotton dickie under a custom printed vest with a smattering of gold buttons, custom printed neck scarf, twill trousers with custom embroidery and lace trim, and miss-matched socks under faux leather lace-up boots. The MAD HATTER's jacket is every bit as detailed with a safety pin attached with multi-colored ribbon streamers, lace trimmings around the cuffs, lace-up draping in the back, custom bird embroidery, and bandolier comprised of resin spools of thread with a fine chain. Of course, his ensemble wouldn't be complete without his signature top hat with flowing sash, jeweled hat pins, and 10/6 tag.

The Mad Hatter

As if the world has rediscovered the classic childrens' fairy tale of Alice in Wonderland, Alice mania has hit the doll world with force. At IDEX many manufacturers showed new Alice in Wonderland dolls for 2010.
You may or may not know that the movie by the same name will be opening tomorrow, March 6, with the fabulously talented, slightly crazy Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter.
This post will show you some of the Mad Hatter dolls that are currently on the market, will be soon or have sold out already. They come in all sizes and prices.

"Images pending licensor and actor approval." I saw the pre-production doll and it's amazing. It's too bad it couldn't be ready for the movie opening. Those in doubt would do well to wait before buying another Hatter. Tonner's is amazing.

Tarrant - The Mad Hatter - Dressed Tonner Character Figure $224.99

Will the REAL Mad Hatter please stand up?

Walt Disney did not create the story of Alice in Wonderland. Lewis Carroll wrote two Alice novels, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There. (1872) Click here for more information on the two pieces of literature.

Will you be adding Alice in Wonderland dolls to your collection?
