Superdoll: The Girls Gather for the Holidays

Wow! What a fabulous trio of GenX gals. Yes, three new dolls were released today plus a new chaise.  I want everything but alas, I cannot have it all.  Gazing upon their beautiful fashions and imagining my dolls on that chaise is as close as I'll get for now.  I still have Draig to debox.

#1 NOBLE DD_0119
The Girls Gather for the HOLIDAYS.
The Swan Coronet
Noble is as Noble does....

A vision in red and gold. Atop her head she wears her glittering beret dribbling with jewels and an organza bow. Platinum blunt bob with fringe diverted. Her face palette is that of rich tones of Ruby, with piercing Azure eyes, tip shaded cranberry brows and lids highlighted in 'gold'.
For this little 'family' get together of clones, she chose to go a little sporty. She wears a crimson zip up velvet track top and a matching crimson skirt bearing lace up front detail. Accents of gilt tulle and hip quilting give her the detail and the curves! Her waist cinched by a broad gold belt. Over her 'sweats' she wears a darling emperor yellow organza night gown with yellow hose and emperor yellow satin concealed platform court shoes.
As to her REGALIA.... she chose a short white 'ermine' plush cape lined in leopard print satin and a gorgeous bandeau of scarlet adorned with 'door knocker' lion heads.

The finishing touch, other than her leopard satin neck bow is of course... her presence.
What is her gift of advent we ask?
This holiday she is most excited to receive a shard of lightning hand mirror.

Price: £279.16
(=348.67 US Dollar)

#2 LAW DD_0117
The Girls Gather for the HOLIDAYS.
The Swan Coronet
Law is the Law.

A vision in nude and black. Atop her head she wears a veil of intricate tulle bearin double plumes in clack. Waist lenth black braided hair with off centre part with fringe diverted to form sideburns. Her face palette is that of rich tones of charcoal and lips of pale dusty rose, with piercing amber eyes, solid tip brows in bitter chocolate and lids bearing eyeliner in pure creme.
For this little 'family' get together of clones, she chose to go a little grand. She wears a nude and black tonal strapless ballgown over an elegant black ruffled lace crinolined underskirt which defines her gorgeous waistline! This grand gown has a detatchable black satin train with envelope top and tiny black bow fastner. Under her gown she wears darling nude hose and court shoes bearing concealed platform.
As to her REGALIA.... she modestly chose a nude velvet reverse tailored jacket with black satin sleeves and adornment of diamante, jett, 'monkey' fur and black satin bows..

The finishing touch, other than her presence, her presence is the ultimate finishing touch.
What is her gift of advent we ask?
This holiday she is most excited to receive a an antique book in which to practice her spelling.

Regent is as Regent is....

A vision in silver and purple. Atop her head she wears a giant red satin bow. Huge auburn blend 'fro' with fringe diverted. Her face palette is that of rich tones of violet and lips of pink, with piercing pale grape eyes, pencilled 2 tone brows and lids highlighted in 'silver'.
For this little 'family' get together of clones, she chose to go a little sporty. She wears a silver zip up lame track top bearing POW embroidered front and a matching silver track pants bearing elasticated waist detail. Zippers, middrif and pockets on her butt add to the fine detailing of her chosen look, and shows off her boday! Under her 'sweats' she wears darling emperor yellow and purple custom printed hose and silver foiled 'leather' buckled court shoes with red soles and concealed platform.
As to her REGALIA.... she chose a full length purple velvet 'Order' cape lined in matching purple satin, bearing hearts, bees and bows, with front fastening in gold cord. A sash of red grosgrain.

The finishing touch, other than her presence, a large ruby studded necklace bearing a diamante crown.

My favorite face is that of Law. I love her detailed lips and tame color palette. Not a fan of the big gown, however.  The outfit I'd most like to have is Nobles.

Sybarite TU Dressed Doll 0111

TU DD_0111

"I'm so excited to be meeting up with the gurls for tea!"
Tu thought it very apt to wear her slippers to the party!

Venus can't wait for the tea time games they will play in the miniature chashitsu created for them in the London Salon.

GENX.2 body!
Cosmetique skintone!

With memories of Pyjama Parties, Venus hair is a deep chocolate with golden blonde tied back fringe, a long flowing wig cut blunt.
Her eyes surrounded in shades of heavy charcoal with vibrant turquoise lids, dark black liner and arched hot pink brows. Her piercing golden eyes are offset with heavy grey. Lips the colour of the asian sun as it hangs over the Autumn sky in her minds eye.
She chose today, a dark fushia jacket of multicolour brocade satin with square kimonoesque sleeves adorned in 'lace on' gilt chain. Closure in the form of a heavy metalic cord belt, neckline plunged to her solarplexities, goes without saying.....
Below the hip level jacket she wears a silk satin micro skirt; the colour of her eyelids, and gorgeous violet hose. Her purse of 'leopard' bears a clasp detail in gold mirror gloss, studs and D ring. Maybe just a small hint as to just what kind of tea party this is going to be!
Furthermore she wears her 'leopard' platform slippers with tops of mirror turquoise studded with gilt metal studs and orange fur. Easy to slip off and stare at.... she really loves these slippers!
Her favourite accessory today of course is her 'gold' leatherette collier with stud and D ring detail.... and of course she did not forget to wear her leash!

The last of Autumns hues; to reveal the Winters turquoise.
Let the Games begin!

I'm amazed at how many and how quickly the dolls are being produced and released by Superdoll. They are fun to look at as well as bizarre in many ways. Tu's wig reminds me a little too much of Cruella Deville.

Superdoll's Halloween "Monarch"

All photos and text are directly from Superdoll Collectable's website.

MONARCH DD_116

The Howling wolves could not keep her contained as Venus slipped from the darkness into the midnight forest.

It's a very eerie night tonight, and this glamour hybrid is off Trick & Treat. (mostly tricking we're sure!) in a foggy forest of London.

GENX.2 body!
Cosmetique skintone!
Venus platinum nape bun, bangs and pappilon bunches hair gives her a silhouette for flight, while her red and black eyebrows and her spiral eyes highlighted in white and shaded in grey give a hypnotic stare. Lips of scarlet outlined in black.
Her silk satin gown of black and red bears overlay of fine tulle printed in latex as are her attached 'wings' which drag or flutter. Her gown silhouette is of sharp jagged neckline and boufant peplum in black with a slinky sinuous red evolving train.

Red jagged edge gloss shoes complete her haunting look.
TRICK OR TREAT?!?

She looks pretty amazing. I like the unusual Sybs (unless they have black rings around their eyes.) The wig is delightful.

Superdoll's 2016 "Glamour Ghoul" Event in London

I was able to cobble together a review of the recently held Superdoll event with text by Izzy and photos from Superdoll, Izzy, Sherryl Buchler, Gerri aka Aquabluerose and John aka dollster.

It's a strange feeling tonight being really happy after a truly wonderful conventionand a little sad that it is all over and we've already waved so many friends goodbye.
The Glamour Ghoul week started with lots of people enjoying salon appointments: beautiful couture Made in London outfits, special headskin wigs, studio painted Gen_X dolls and previews of some upcoming production items.....including TU, the next in the current AW collection and the one Val queried below.
The first "official unofficial happening" was the Thursday night get together held in a hotel near the salon. This had the theme "Witch's Heart" after a Halloween cocktail which is the same colours as the gorgeous first prize in the draw at the end of the evening: a specially enhanced and wigged version of Oxide wearing a OOAK salon gown. Conventioneers also received goody bags with miniatures, customized candy and postcards together with a "paper doll" of Oxide - we received three more to cover the Kinky collection during the event.

Most people spent Friday either shopping or visiting one of the many available exhibitions - The Vulgar at the Barbican Arts Centre was the most popular! This included some fabulous fashions by designers like John Galliano, Christian Dior and Pam Hogg: the Jazz Age at the Fashion and Textile Museum also had some beautiful dresses.
On Friday evening we all assembled for The Howling: cocktails and a Chalk White exhibit at The Hospital Club in Covent Garden. Don't ask me about the drinks, the venue, the music, the canapes......I only had eyes for the dolls! (The company was pretty good too though!).
The collection was called Screaming Dervish and was totally incredible - but far too exciting to discuss properly in an event report!
Once we had our breath back, Charles and Desmond presented the first of our event dolls, a Gen_X Beauty called Magic with raven hair and a red and neutral dress - and stunning two tone red and dark brows!

She was accompanied by a set of glittering headphones and cell phone and the next "paper doll".
Then came the exciting news that Magic had a sister who was an edition of just 30 and available as a companion optional purchase the next day at the salon!
Trillion is a really pretty colour variation with a blonde and pink palette...just lovely

After Saturday's additional salon shopping excursion it was time to start>>
preparing for the Ice Morgue Ball held at St Ermins Hotel in Westminster. The staff did a fabulous job welcoming us and not batting an eyelid at some of the rather....ahem...unusual and extreme costumes that were sported at this costume ball (though they did request quite a few photographs!). After enjoying cocktails in the beautiful Balcony Bar...all white stucco friezes and beautiful curved rails....whilst we watched the new arrivals negotiating the staircase in towering heels or mummy wrappings or masses of white tulle....we made our way to The Cloisters, a beautiful spacious room with high cornices and amazing details.
Through a fog of dry ice clouds the staff assisted us with finding our places at a huge dining table adorned with myriad candelabras....and five gorgeous dolls dressed in gowns resembling the mummy's wrappings slowly revolving in front of our astonished eyes.
Each place setting had a gold box containing a set of five pairs of shoes, a sybarite luggage tag shaped like a miniature doll, a set of postcards and the final "paper doll" together with chocolates and badges.
Saturday Centerpiece Doll
After a delicious dinner of smoked salmon, tender beef and a champagne and strawberry dessert, we all savoured our coffee whilst Charles and Desmond collected our prize draw tickets and awarded the stunning centerpieces to five lucky winners. I'm thrilled to say my husband was one of them!!!!! The excitement continued with the best costume competition, loudly voted upon by all the attendees!
Then came the high point: the unveiling of the convention doll - or should I say defrosting? For the first of the new generation 4.5 resin sybarites, Venus clone 800, was presented encased in a shimmering ice sculpture....maybe to stop us overheating as we stared at her beautiful face! Anunnaq is absolutely perfect - the most amazing make up and outfit!!!! There are pictures on superdoll's Facebook page for those who haven't seen her and I know there will be lots more as soon as collectors arrive home and get chance to play!
Anunnaq, Resin Gen 4.5, Venus Clone 800
We celebrated her arrival with dancing, partying, talking, planning.......before finally leaving with words of see you in Paris or see you in New Orleans....already looking forward to our next sybarite events!
__________________________________

All the dolls except Anunnaq were the vinyl Gen X type. Izzy reported that between 40-50 were in attendance. I asked her about Salon Appointments.
The exclusive salon items are sold most frequently via salon appointments - some items made in the London studio may be sold online but then would normally be described as studio pieces rather than salon exclusives.
There are salon items produced throughout the year and it is possible to make an appointment at any time of year (subject of course to Charles or Desmond being available) but there is a greater selection of items specifically made for the convention collections.
As well as the chance to purchase these exclusive fashions there may often be the chance to see a preview of a forthcoming production item or something unique from Superdoll's private collection - you never really know what you will find to see!
The last two USA Superdoll conventions have included a "trunk sale" - effectively a traveling salon.

New GENX.2 Doll: VIRIDIAN DD_109

Today a new Sybarite was released. They're coming very fast these days, aren't they?
Here is the description from the Superdoll website:

VIRIDIAN DD_109

''Brrrrrr!' I'm so glad its getting cooler, I can finally wear more clothes!'.
Viridian is first into the Tea House and hopes no one notices she did not take off her boots to walk on the Tatami!.

Venus can't wait for the tea time games they will play in the miniature chashitsu created for them in the London Salon.

GENX.2 body!
Cosmetique skintone!

With memories of Harajuku, Venus hair is a vibrant titian, a choppy cut and longish sideburns and mullet back; the top pulled up into a fin and gently smoothed backwards.
Her eyes surrounded in shades of vermillion and pink with pale lids, dark black liner and arched dark mocha brows. Her piercing emerald eyes are offset with burnt jade. Lips the colour of late, late seasons tangerine.
An emerald coat of short pile 'fur' bears a huge collar and cuffs in medium 'fox' dyed exquisitely to match. Closures of dagger toggles and from within, a 'happy' pumpkin colour lining. In seam pockets and 'leather' foiled detailing go without saying.....
She slips off her coat to bare a satin, chiffon and lace 'wearable daytime' negligee, bearing accenting lime coloured rope in a knotted Kikkou. Maybe just a small hint as to just what kind of tea party this is going to be!
Furthermore she wears a shade of emerald that is 'just so' for her full length hose, a metal studded, latex and satin bag with chain straps just big enough for maybe a rope or a teapot. On her feet, fiendish multi layer platform sole ankle boots in green satin with peek a boo lace up sides and oodles of 'fur' trimming the cuffs.

The last of summers green; to reveal the Autumns beautiful hues.
Let the Games begin!

Superdoll Collectables: "Columbia"

A new Gen X Sybarite was revealed today. Here is the description from the Superdoll website:

I think I'll wear flowers.
Taking in the neighbourhood sights while strutting her stuff in Trendiest East London.

Venus knows her way around this part of town... it's home!

NEW! GENX.2 body!
NEW! Cosmetique skintone!

Her waist length wig is a delicate blend of black, dark chocolate and copper with subtle V cut fringe, serving 'edge'! Eyes of marigold and triffid surrounded by shadow in rose, olive, vanilla and charcoal. Heavy olive liner on her lids. Brows of coffee accentuated with a stroke of black. Lips the colour of summer begonia.
Her Cosmos print uber mini wrap dress bears delicate ties in olive silk, firstly to show off her waist and secondly to hope the wind lifts her wrap to show off her leopard print panties! To keep her cool, she wears a floral lace printed cardigan, just tight enough to show off all her curves.
Coffee coloured hose, a pair of gorgeous leaf and mocha platform open toe lace up sandals , bearing lazer cutout detail. These along with a long sling leopard print pouch bag dripping in gilt accessories emblazoned with a gilt union jack are her accessories of choice.
Just when you thought that was enough she picked up her oversized multicolour enamel tassel necklace and popped on her divine chocolate coloured wide brim hat.
Good to go, she then added multiple hippy bracelets... just because she should!

The sun is shining outside Darlings!

Brunel: A Most Versatile Kingdom Doll

Brunel is the most photographed Kingdom Doll in my collection. The first photo presents her as she was originally dressed.
Photos show her dressed in fashions by Ficon, Integrity Toys, Tonner, Superdoll and, of course, Kingdom Doll. There is one dress in there by a collector. Wigs by Cheryl Wood and Ilaria.

You can click on individual photos to enlarge them.

Gen X Forest Review

I was one of the lucky collectors who logged on to the Superdoll website early enough to buy Forest.  I didn't expect to see her posted at that time, but there she was.
Forest cost $387.63 with a $58.94 charge for postage. Asking price for her on eBay, almost immediately after she sold out, went well above $1000.

She is exquisite.

Forest is, most assuredly, inspired by Galadriel from The Lord of the Rings.

Cate Blanchett as Galadriel
She brings her own light to the darkness with her staff whose branches support three candles. In order for her to hold it upright, one changes out her default hand for the clutching hand. Warming the arm in a heating pad for a while makes that process very easy.

Everything about this doll sparkles.

From the empire waistline down there are two embroidered layers of tulle-like fabric. The swirling pattern is traced with metallic silver thread accented by silvery sequins.
The under layer of the skirt is all over sequins in a random pattern.

Both the neckline and the waist are circled with rhinestones. The closure at the back of the dress is enhanced with rosettes as are the tops of the puff sleeves.

Her boots took a good deal of patience and care to put on.

Regarding the overlapping leg joint issue many have had with Gen X dolls, Forest still has it but it's less pronounced.

Her crowning glory is the diadem of rhinestones worn over her knee-length platinum hair.

Tonner's Galadriel was quite true to the actress' appearance and costume but I like sparkly, shiny things.

And of course, the Barbie version is a happy girl.

Forest wins.
