More From TonnerCon 2014 and Carmen Dell'Orefice

Friday Afternoon Wilde Imagination Luncheon

The Ellowyne and Lizette - not very unique. They are 'been there, done that' dolls IMO.

Dark Attic Evangeline
Evangeline is starting to look more and more like a "normal" doll.  This one is very pretty.

Friday Night Centerpiece
Tyler's dress is not my taste. In this photo, the gathered areas of the skirt do not lay properly. I would not be very happy with her or her hair bump. She does have nice bangs - a rare quality in the doll world.
Update: I have seen the IRL doll and she is prettier than this photo. The dress also looks better than the promo shows.
15th Anniversary Tyler Centerpiece
Here she is, Carmen Dell'Orefice, with the Tonner gang. She is just so gorgeous. Wonderful photos! I love them. I wonder if she had to approve the doll prior to it being manufactured. I wonder how much they paid her for the right to make a doll of her and to appear at the event. What a great thing. I wonder if the press was there to cover it.

It doesn't look much like  her but I like the doll and can't wait until mine gets here.
Look at her gorgeous hands, her simply beautiful bone structure and classy attire. She blows me away.

Wilde Imagination's Virtual Factory Sale

As I predicted in a recent post, Wilde's web server crashed. At about 40 minutes in, everything was reporting as sold out and if one clicked on the check out links, a message was delivered saying the site is temporarily under maintenance.
Our Web site is temporarily unavailable while we perform routine system maintenance. We are working on the site to improve its appearance and functionality. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Please visit us again later.
This is now on the front page of the website:
How disappointing for the people at Wilde. They must be incredibly frustrated with this happening during their debut virtual factory sale. I feel sympathy for them.

However, the site is functioning and one can look over all the items. The sale items have a VFS after them.

I did get lucky to get the Great Depression Ellowyne dressed doll at $69. and a pair of pink Ello shoes (Back Bow Pumps) that I have loved since I first saw them. (The shoes had already been on sale as End of Edition.)
After I scored these items, I went back and tried for an Evangeline and other items but that's when the server began to act up.
_______________________________

This is just a tiny, tiny fraction of an annoyance compared to what would happen to us computer users if major internet interruptions were to happen - possibly caused by hackers. I remember the time Bank of America closed their site due to hackers.  It's not enough to back up your own files these days. We'd better hope that our banks back up all their information in STONE.

The next war be on the virtual battlefield. It's already begun and it's frightening. I don't know anyone who lives off the grid. How many of us use on-line banking to pay bills? I venture to say that 98% of doll collectors buy and pay for their stuff on-line as opposed to using paper checks and/or money orders.

During the last few doctor visits I had, the doctors took notes on their laptops.

Sorry for going way off the bend there. It's one of my deepest beliefs that no information is private any longer. That HIPA thing we sign in the US is bullshit.

One bit of advice and then I shall shut up...check your credit card statement, bank statement and credit report often. Don't write anything in an email, on a doll board or on Facebook that you wouldn't publish in a newspaper.

Don't worry; be happy. Play with dolls.

Cyber Monday

Did you shop today? Apparently one did not have to wait until today for Cyber Monday. On many doll sites it began Friday. I did a little damage myself over at Wilde Imagination. I purchased one item I've wanted since it came out, Reflections of Beauty. The dimensions of this gorgeous mirror are 20-1/2" high by 8-1/2" wide.  With the 20% off and free shipping, I felt it was time for this piece to come home.

An exclusive straight out of Evangeline's attic! This Victorian-inspired mirror features a wood/resin ornate golden frame, sturdy base, and reflected mirror, and is the perfect place for Evangeline to admire her newest creations.
If you're  familiar with Tonner's product you will agree that every piece of furniture, every prop, has sold out and gone up in value over the years. If only the dolls could perform similarly.

Another purchase was this adorable Ellowyne outfit called Cold Comfort. I wasn't the only one who bought it this weekend because it's now sold out.
Features a top, ruffled layered skirt, a quilted jacket with front zipper (non-working) and ties, neck scarf, matching tights, white boots with silver trim, and ear muffs - of course!
As if this weren't enough, I also bought Dreamstate Evangeline. I haven't had an Evangeline in a long time and I've never had one with the updated body. I still have several outfits from my long gone EG's so this gal will have plenty to wear.
Evangeline comes with inset brown eyes, applied lashes, and rooted dark brown hair made of the highest quality fibers. She features the new vinyl and hard plastic body and stands 18-1/2" tall with delicate hand-painted features, and boasts 15-points of articulation for amazing posing possibilities.
She comes dressed in a beautiful one-piece outfit with a brocade top with a flower and ribbon decoration, tulle skirt, and matching panties, stockings, and designer shoes. It's the perfect look for writing in her diary - or preparing a 6-course dinner for one!

And today I saw this little darling Patsy outfit called Blustery Day. Luckily, I do not collect these little dolls but if I did, she'd be displayed right next to Ellowyne in her new winter outfit which looks to be the perfect companion!

MetroDolls Event Part I

Today we attended what felt like a mini doll convention in Iselin, New Jersey. This complex event was put on by the MetroDolls doll club. The members worked very hard to coordinate and pull off a luncheon that was very well attended not only by doll collectors but also by professional doll designers and artists. In addition to Robert Tonner who was the featured speaker, Doug James, Mel Odom and Paul Pham were there. Designers from all over the world sent in stunning creations for the charity auction.
