Perry Marino Sculpt Rises from the Dead - Again

Yes vampire loving doll collectors, Perry Marino, whose sculpt began life (or death) in 2011 as The Count Dracula is back again in the Jem line - sans fangs.

Here he is in his second incarnation, well-dressed and pained looking. Perhaps he's hungry.

LE500 (They must think he'll sell out.) ETA: Approximately the First Week of December 2015

Special Holiday Pricing: $130.00 US + Shipping, Handling and Tax

I love the background in the photo on the left! However, no matter how good a photo is, no matter how many times you change the name and the clothes, you can't take the ugly out of the sculpt. Time to bury him for good.

Having misssed posting this guy, one of my alert readers sent me this photo of "Backstage Ambition," another seriously unpleasant example of Perry Marino.
Good Grief.

  1. Also "Backstage Ambition" was a convention doll, I think. I remember it being sold through IT website after the convention. I could be wrong, but I think that's what happened. Don

  3. They are scraping the bottom of the barrell with Jem now. And it is such a highly unsuccessful line with only like 50 people always talking about how much they love it. I can't believe they discontinued Dynamite Girls, Monograms, Victoire Roux (unofficially) and all for this garbage. Why would a company make stuff that doesn't sell well and they lose money on.

    1. ...because two of the staff are big fans.

    2. Sawyer looked pretty bored in the last Jem video, though. I got the feeling he is just going through the motions at this point. Jem is still being dragged out because of the one person on the IT staff who is ruining the company. But hey, if the owner doesn't see that...

    3. LOL @ anon: he looked like he wanted to be anywhere but there talking about Jem.

  4. I enjoy so much that he looks, especially in the fourth picture, like he is trying to do a simple math equation in his head and failing miserably at it. Should've paid attention in algebra, guy.

    1. The sculpt worked for Count Dracula. I sort of like Backstage Ambition- he looks like the kind of guy groupies DON'T want to mess with backstage.

  6. Given that the dolls generally look better in person than in promotional pictures, I'm hoping that is also the case here. I've come across Perry at decent prices but always passed on him because I didn't care for the sculpt or the screening. At least Eric is supposed to be an unpleasant person, so the sculpt fits the story line.

  7. I love my Jem dolls but this doll is SO UGLY. I agree he "fits the storyline" and kinda looks like one of the screenshots from the cartoon, but what is the point if your doll is hideous? I couldn't do it.
