The Kinsman
We anticipate launching the first edition of the Kinsman at the end of October. This first release will be for 70 dolls in total: 35 of the blue-eyed Booth and 35 of the brown-eyed Garrick. Once the first release has been sold out, a pre-order period will be opened for both Booth and Garrick in the New Year. The Kinsman will be sold in two formats. The first will be the open edition of the brothers featuring our exclusive Roman Bronze resin. They will be dressed in swimming trunks and come with a hard cap wig and an adjustable stand. The second will be limited edition, fully conceptualized dressed dolls in different resin tones and sold via our Store when ready.
Here are some "fresh photos" from the Kinsman website:
Wow he's quite erm... detailed lol! Very handsome though. Nice to see a more masculine-looking male doll.
ReplyDeleteYes he is. And why not? :-)
DeleteKinsman dolls are solid combination of art and beauty.I love these 17 inch models and love them.Kinsman dolls again prove that they are ready to rule their fans hearts.
ReplyDeleteI'm very impressed with the heads....and the torsos. I agree that there is a real need for well defined (in apparently many ways) male dolls. I do have a concern based on the photos so far, and some pictures of the Kingdom line concerning the joints. The knee looks very awkward and some shots I've seen of the Kingdom elbow appeared to have this same issue.
ReplyDeleteI don't have first had knowledge of the dolls so I'm wondering what your observations on the joints are.
As always love the blog.
Will C.
I'll see them in person in about 3 weeks.

If you're asking about the Kingdom Dolls....there is no problem I have found with their joints at all.

They look fabulous- I can't wait to see them in person!
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to have some male dolls with the same level of artistic beauty as the females. They seem really well done from the pictures. The question, as always, will be about measurements; will Tonner 17" clothing fit? If not, will they be offering any additional outfits?
ReplyDeleteTroy, we will find out soon enough. I need a job!
DeleteIt is about time. So many went GaGa over Mr.Chic (DollChic)'s David - though his price point was very high and he was limited. And frankly, there is also the problem that while many went nuts over him because there are so few masculine dolls - not everyone has STILL heard about him.
ReplyDeleteI hope the manufacturers start making more male dolls, but frankly, the fact this is coming from KD concerns me - it seems that there is a list of people that tend to get their dolls (and I"m not trying to be rude), and a longer list of people that never do.
I have a feeling, even though they've said they have a higher production, these will sell out immediately and the same people who have the female KD's will be the ones that have the males. I'm not trying to be pessimistic, but having been the one who has gotten a doll in her basket four or five times only to not check out in 20 seconds or less....I can't help but almost say "forget it. I dont' even want to get my hopes up."
:/
I'm glad and I hope this starts a spark of more male dolls that are higher 'artistic' dolls. My David is lonely and my ladies fight over him. lol.
I hope you don't give up trying to get one. As far as the same people getting the dolls, there are very few who post pictures of their KD dolls so I don't know how anyone can possibly know who gets them all the time. I know three or four people who post their dolls and then there are a bunch of people who seem to have one. And yet, people keep repeating that the same people get them all the time. There may be a reason that some people get many of them. Perhaps they are being paid in dolls for designing the jewelry or the wigs. In fact, they are.
DeleteWhen Deva was making male dolls, they made only 30 Angelos. I am lucky to have one. There are dolls with very limited editions. That's the way it is. Keep trying..
Wonder if they'll be a good match for the new Tulabelle?
