Be warned...once you start looking at Alexandra's photos, you will remain at your computer for a long time!
Remember when this not-very-successful line of 1960's-inspired demure dolls had a lovely charm to them? Now they both look like prostitutes. Why? Is this what potential buyers aspire to in their dolls?
ReplyDeleteIt's not a judgement just a viewpoint.
Sad.
You are probably thinking of Willow and Daisy who were lovely and demure. They were followed a few years later by Violett and Gabby. I thought those two were pretty trashy-looking.
DeleteLoving Gabby.... Agreed that the suggestive posing is a bit over the top.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, the photo's that Terri posted were taken by Alex of Prego fame. Other collectors had asked her to post pictures of the doll's bodies, so people could see the new resin and jointing. She actually did them modestly by putting wraps on them.
DeleteGabby looks so much like Poppy Parker in some pictures, probably because of that pout. I wonder if that's intentional.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it is.
DeleteI don't think it's intentional although the pout surely is.
DeleteDo like the first photo, but the other, two, looking like they just got out of bed with someone, well...... Loved the Daisy/ Willow line and I do like the face sculpts on these two. Violet looks a little like Gene. No ankle joint, which for me is neither a plus or minus. Not sure they are contemporary or 60's like Daisy and Willow. Might have been cute to have them posed in their classic outfits, too. Maybe like the new resin Gene, they can be from whatever era the buyer wants!!!!
ReplyDeleteI would have liked resin articulated daisy and Willow. They were very pretty.
DeleteYes, Terri, I agree. REALLY should have started out with the original two, even if there was a sculpt edit. Love Daisy, love Willow, love their storyline!!! Those were some really cute Chelsea/ Carnaby Street birds!!!!
ReplyDeleteI still have clothes and the mannequin for them. Don't you wish they could standardize shoe size for shoes????? So glad for acid-free wax and putty!!!!! Only thing that keeps the shoes on the girls!!!!
