Avatar Dolls on Sale

These are too large to have gotten lost in the warehouse so Tonner Doll has put these up for sale at $499. each. That's $300 less than the original $799. price! Holy Avatar. That's quite a sale. Can they possibly be making any money on these dolls at this price? Between the research, design, licensing and manufacturing...they had to be on the pricey side to produce. I wish I knew exactly what the bottom line was for each doll.

  1. My dream in life is to know of a dollstore-owning "Deep Throat" (so to speak) who could divulge this information.
(subliminal hint to anyone who would like to fufill my hopes!)

There is a number of things Tonner is manufacturing that I "like" but honestly not enough to buy, and certainly not at their original or Tonner "sales" prices, either.

When dolls are in this price range, it knocks me WAY out of league.

Debox what you have & may have forgotten & move forward.

    Sorry, Bob!

    1. I doubt the doll store owners know how much it costs to manufacture individual dolls unless they are themselves the manufacturer.

  2. As beautiful as they are, they are definitely aimed at a very specific niche market.
I believe they came out a little while after the movie and the customers they were designed for may have moved on to newer "must have" items by then.
Beautiful to look at....but I wouldn't want to spend money on one.
    As always love the blog.

    1. There were many delays in this doll getting to market. Isn't there another Avatar movie coming?

  3. I would also think since doll dealers are being cut out of Tonner's plans (he seems to want to sell direct and eliminate doll dealers) they wouldn't be privy to what these dolls cost wholesale, heck I'm not even sure there's a wholesale price for them.

Whatever...the latest email from Tonner regarding the upcoming virtual factory sale reads like spam from an internet affiliate marketer.
