  1. You had me at " mix and match separates". Loving the graphic look of the clothes and all the accessories.

  2. So, no thoughts about this one?

    1. Well, Anonymous, why don't you tell us what you think?

    2. well I think the doll itself is really beautiful and I like this new screening and she has some cute pieces that are going to be useful for a lot of redressing, but I don't really see any particular style or design, It's like they just randomly throwed clothing, that's what I feel anyway.

    3. I was also wondering about the fashion references, but I trusted David Buttery to know his fashions and stick to his theme of Brigitte Bardot 60's style and I was right. If you do a simple google pic search for her early fashion looks you'll see she popularized the capri pant, off shoulder shirt and ballet pumps and made them her signature look.

    4. I see Poppy as one of the least sexy dolls ever produced. Dressing her as Brigitte Bardot is a joke. The clothes are cute but there is no connection between the doll and the character at all.

    5. Why do people keep referencing Bardot? Never have IT or David Buttry suggest - be it in writing or during the Q&A at convention - that these dolls are based on Bardot. There were other celebrities in the 60s in France beside Bardot, you know.

And I disagree that Poppy is not sexy or cannot look it. I think with the correct screening she can be very sexy and sultry. And Bardot wasn't always sexy seductive either, she often looked sweet and feminine and girlie.

    6. @Anon: yes I agree. It seems like they just threw in a bunch of separate pieces together that are not very era specific. I mean, all these pieces can be found in the wardrobe of any contemporary gal. There is nothing 60s and Parisian about it. The ribbons on the black top are too big and clownish and so are the buttons.

  3. This doll is a pass for me. Some of the clothing pieces and accessories are cute but not a must have. And the doll, I'm afraid with the eye screening that the eyes will turn out wonky. I hope IT doesn't use this eye screening for the entire line. But if they do, it will save me money. I am partial to brunette Poppy Parker dolls, so if there is a brunette doll in the main line, I might buy her regardless of the eye screening. We'll see.

  4. Well, I do not collect Poppies, but this one is really nice. The only thing I do not like is platinum hair with dark eyebrows.

  5. I love the platinum with dark eyes/brows and red lips.My favorite combo. And the separates and Enid Collins bag are great too.I would get this if my doll funds werent zilch.Sharon

  6. If this Poppy were 16 inches instead of 12, I'd be tempted. I find her mix and match wardrobe to be more 1960's French Riviera style than Parisian. I really like the tote bag and white "glove" hands in this set though, but again her size holds me back from purchasing this Poppy.

  7. The outfits/separates are very cute, and the accessories (the bag and those espadrilles!) look great, but I've never been a fan of Poppy the doll. Trying to decide if I want to just pick her up for the goodies.

  8. Look at how she is posed in that promo picture. Kind of a dumbfounded look on her face. IT isn't even trying anymore.

The mix and match separates do not match the era they advertised. I agree with above that they seem more French Riviera than Parisian chic. She looks more like a working girl, if you know my meaning, at the French Riviera. And she is overpriced at $150.

  9. Unfortunately there is nothing interesting about this doll or most of what IT is producing these days. It seems like everything has been done before, and they're just recycling the same looks over and over. This particular Poppy is different, but not in a good way. This looks very "Barbie" to me...which is totally fine, because I love saving money and so far IT hasn't got much of it this year.
