Two Daydreamers has a new, exclusive Ashleigh. Apparently, she is the start of a coming "Bridal Series."
As far as the gown goes, I would have preferred to see a rhinestone encrusted belt instead of the annoying gray bow. There is a great deal of lovely draping on the body of the gown and the bow interferes with those lines. I'm not sure what is going on at the shoulders. The description says "Icy white tulle softens the shoulders and also explodes into a cascade of tulle ruffles at the skirt bottom." Exploding cascades? LOL Where is her bouquet? It just seems that accessories and embellishment have cheapened up and/or disappeared. She should have glamorous jewelry, perhaps a tiara. At these prices, I want more and they have to stop sticking bows on to gowns.
Here is the description from the website:
Two Daydreamers' exclusive "Forever Yours Ashleigh" - 1st in the classically romantic Bridal Series - 16" Tyler bending wrist body - Cameo skin tone - Ashleigh sculpt - LE100Priced at $224.99
Ashleigh's sophisticated snowy white taffeta gown is beautifully engineered and cut to drape over the bust and shoulders. The gown's skirt is elegantly draped across the front and released in concentric circles of gently folded fabric caught in the ingenious seaming. Icy white tulle softens the shoulders and also explodes into a cascade of tulle ruffles at the skirt bottom. A contrasting dove grey bow at the waist and silk flowers strewn at the shoulders add to the overall elegance of this drop-dead design. White knit opera length gloves, white faux leather, high-heeled strappy sandals and sparkling diamond-like studs complete her dreamy bridal ensemble.
Oh, Terri!
ReplyDeleteThe bouquet is $25 extra.
Two Daydreamers will be holding onto this exclusive for as long as the previous Exclusives are still on
their website.
All the Ashleighs are theirs along. I don't understand your point.
DeleteNone of them ever sell.
DeleteReally? I bought one a few years ago. She was crazy expensive but I still have her although I sold the fashion.
DeleteI'm fairly new to the doll fashion world- only have a Tonner Tyler. The UK is RUBBISH for fashions and dolls, so toying with the idea of setting up a small company. I have a theatre costume background and thought about making gowns to sell. What is your view on independant, non-manufactured brands, please? Highest quality naturally, and including accessories. I speacialise in bead-work and embellishments so your comment about the belt on this gown gave me hope, and amused me. Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteI love well-made fashions from artisans. I don't know if you can make a living doing that but you can certainly get a following. Search my blog for Cholo Ayuyao and you will see some gorgeous work by an independent artist.
DeleteTerri is a great person to ask. Truly. She's very smart.
DeleteI will add: It depends on what you need to get back from your creations. You can also look on etsy and ebay for a sense of what things sell for. There is a ceiling on how people people can/will pay for things, so you have to reverse engineer that into your costs or take a loss. Sometimes a labor of love is worth it, but it won't keep your lights on.
As a buyer, I don't care about fancy packaging or presentation, but the difference between a 10 dollar item and 100 dollar item is in the details. Spend twice as long on it, and make 5-10 times the money. I used to do reroots. I have a policy of not producing anything I would not want to buy. I rerooted a MOTM Nichell to have flat long straight hair like it had been flat ironed. I sold one and made another. A buyer complained the hair was not full enough, but I showed her the photos she bought from where it was clear. And clear that it was intentional, because I had reproduced it again for my 2nd one. So I guess it comes down to realizing that different people have different tastes.
Wow there is just so much (and possibly too much) going on here. I do love the Kitty tho!
