I have been trying to redress my older Tonner dolls. The clothes are still in fine condition but the shoes…ugh. I have (had) a fairly large collection of shoes to fit Tyler and Co. What I’m finding are limp straps, most of which have cracking and peeling. I’m also finding many detached heels. They glue together OK but the shoes are weakened.

Deteriorating Shoes
Most of these are unworn shoes!
The same can be said for every fashion doll company that produced vinyl shoes.
It's not just shoes that are peeling, it's belts and any clothing item made of vinyl.
Disappointing.

Yep. I no longer buy Tonner shoes online, even if "new" and unused. The vinyl-coated fabric simply perishes, and shiny shoes crack on the toe vamp. Even the hard plastic mules fatigue and crack at the instep, so they fall off the doll and really can't be glued. It makes finding "perfect shoes for the outfit" closer to impossible. I can look at them...but don't dare buy. Too much money wasted. I have great 16" Joe Tai shoes where the glue has dried out...fuggedaboutit...not his fault. You glue tiny shoes, you get dry-out. (I miss his gown designs terribly, poor guy. I'm sure people who had actually known him really miss him as a person.)
