As soon as I saw Marie Laveau, I knew I had to have her. First of all I like Angela Bassett and I think this doll resembles her. Secondly, I'm happy to be able to add a beautiful, newly sculpted black doll to my collection. I love her braided hair and her fashion is very cute. I hope the actual doll looks just like the promotional photos.

As far as the rest of the dolls, my opinion is not nearly as high. I did not see the Coven episodes so I am not familiar with the characters. I am, however, familiar with Jessica Lange and Fiona Goode looks nothing like the actress. I do like her outfit and the umbrella a lot and might try to get that.

Myrtle Snow is rather unattractive. Is she about to do the dishes?  I suppose that those who are fans of the entire series will want all of the characters. The other dolls and their outfits do nothing for me. I don't need to know a back story to have a doll impress me. I've seen numerous attempts at character doll sculpts that have failed. However, if the doll looked great to me I would buy it.

What do you all think?

  1. I don't watch this show but I looked up some photos for comparison. I would be tempted to purchase Fiona Goode just for that umbrella! I think she and Marie are pretty great. From the photos of Myrtle that I saw Integrity missed a huge opportunity--the character reminds me of Grace Coddington, the doll is not good. The rest of these dolls merit a "meh" from me--they don't look so much different that any doll in their regular lines.

  3. I've seen the show, Myrtle Snow is an excellent likeness of the character, she has so many great outfits on the show. Not tempted to buy any though, great reference and attention to detail but not sure how it would fit with the rest of my fashion dolls if I were to redress them.I wish they would have done Lily Rabe's character Misty Day.

  4. If you're looking for 1/6 size umbrellas, Wild Toys makes some http://www.acitoys.com/wt-20.html

I haven't bought any in a while (I have 6), but you can probably still find them.

  5. Well I can tell you, their desperate attempt at marketing notwithstanding, flying off the shelves these will not. These dolls look dull and boring and they look NOTHING like their real counterparts. I.T. spent 2 years and this is what they could come up with? Why does IT insist on taking on licenses that are not their foray or that they are not able to do right? Another failure that will cost us consumers because they will want to increase prices and cut down on quality just to make up for the losses here.

  6. I loved Coven! I think the dolls are great. I've ordered the Kyle and Zoe dolls. They remind me of the characters in the show, which is all I'm looking for!

I agree with Poppy... the licensed dolls are always awful IMO. they don't look anything like the characters and this lot is a very dismal offering.

  8. I'm not impressed. They look like a lot like Tonner dolls, which I tend to find unattractive with thier Jay Leno lantern jaw lines.

  9. I'm not impressed too. I only like Kyle.

  10. Loving the details on the characters. I do want Marie (love Angela Bassett), Fiona, Kyle, and Zoe. As for looking like Tonner dolls, being a collector, I disagree. Although some of the male characters do have lantern jaws, the jaw line does exist (Sam Heughan, Outlander). If the neck is kept in proportion, it works (like Kyle, above). He does look like Evan Peters.

  11. The Angela Bassett doll looks great. The idea of a line of dolls based on a TV show from two years ago......seems like a stretch.
I loved Coven and I'm sorry they didn't get a better likeness of Jessica Lange and Francis Conroy. Their "looks" are very much a part of their characters.
    As always love the blog.
