Tenth Anniversary Misaki "Tokyo Here We Go"

I sold my last Misaki doll about two years ago. I was a big fan. They were adorable until they weren't anymore. That's an old story and I moved on from there.

When I saw The Tenth Anniversary Misaki "Tokyo Here We Go" she sucked me right back in. I was a fan from the start of this outfit, first in white, then black and now in blue.

I had the black one. Look how perfectly adorable her hair is. Everything was done so well.

I never bought the white (Marui) one. Apparently you can still find one for between $600-$700.

This is not my photo. It is from a Japanese selling site called Buyee.
The seller is helensstory8 and I'm guessing the picture was taken by her.

Both of the earlier dolls had finely done, more complicated hairstyles than this anniversary edition whose hair needs some styling.

The dress and boots on the new girl are nicely made. I would have liked if the mesh tights and arm covers were a tighter weave as they had been in the past.

If you are getting this doll be aware that the necklace is very fragile. A piece fell off of mine as I was attempting gently to put it on. I had to cobble together a new connection with jumprings and hooks from other pieces of older jewelry. Finally, I took off her head using the heating pad method, put the necklace on and then put her head back on. What a fiddly pain.

This was my last Misaki, Red Rabbit, in an outfit by Louos.

Now THWG2016 is standing next to my one and only Poppy Parker, probably never to be played with and will go down in history as another cute impulse buy.

  1. What about the pink one? I love the blue one, it's so pretty!

  2. I went back & forth on this doll & finally decided to pass. I'm not really into the whole "lolita" thing, so the outfits aren't something I love. If I kept her in her outfit, then I would just have a doll in clothes I don't really like, & if I redressed her....well, that's a different problem. Without the clothes she's just another Misaki with long hair & bangs. There have been so many of them, I've stopped buying them. If she had had a great hairstyle, then I might have gotten her, but I just can't keep spending money on the same doll over & over.

The white Misaki is one of my holy grail dolls, but at the prices she goes for, I doubt I'll ever be able to get her. I would even buy her nude, but you never see her for sale nude. Also, don't forget about the Amelie pink version (I think this is your photo) http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-N5fVVnSrxN8/UYPzo8ELWqI/AAAAAAAAQBU/QoHM506cN7c/s1600/09AmelieRevisitedTokyoHereWeGo2.jpg

    1. I never really liked the Amelie sculpt. As far as the hairstyle, which bugs me, I saw it redone very well - straightened and center parted. I probably won't do it. In spite of everything, this is a very popular doll and seems to be fully reserved or sold out everywhere.

  3. I love some of the more elaborate Misaki dolls! The most recent ones (the last two waves) were cute but seemed rather basic to me.

Of course I LOVE the 10th Anniversary doll- and did finally get one. Where did you order yours from Terri? So jealous you already have her in hand !!!!!

I have noticed a big spike in the price of Misaki dolls lately. I'm not sure if it is just overly optimistic sellers, or people trying to make up for the 20% ebay/paypal share- but some of the over priced dolls are the ones that you can still get through various Japanese collector sites for way less. (ie doll collectible)

    1. I'll have to look into that...possibly 200. Not sure. I got her from Denise Travers who has been importing Japanese dolls forever. I think she's probably sold out. Do a Google search. Unfortunately, you will find that she is difficult to get at this point.

  5. I think that even though her hair style is "simple" this doll is quite lovely and is an appropriate addition to the Anniversary line. I cannot believe that Misaki line is 10 years old,

  6. It's a pleasant distraction from thinking about how old I am. :-)
