Barbie as Grace Kelly

BARBIE AS GRACE KELLY - "TO CATCH A THIEF GRACE KELLY" 2011
I love the gown; the doll, not so much. She's probably sewn into it. But I would buy it for the fashion anyway.  SRP $39.99

Grace Kelly is a global icon—a famous princess, bride and an Academy Award-winning actress who starred in the 1955 romantic thriller, To Catch a Thief. Grace Kelly looks stunning in her blue gown inspired by the opening scene of To Catch a Thief, set in the French Riveria. This dress truly captures Grace's elegant style.

Barbie 2011 BARBIE BFMC GRACE KELLY BRIDE GOLD LABEL Collection
I would love to see a real-life image of this doll.  MSRP $179.99  Holy Crap

One place to pre-order with a 30% deposit is Angelic Dreamz.

In doing a thorough (?) search for the trousseau prices last night I came across a low pre-order price of $129. As always, do your research. Lower prices can mean higher shipping in some cases.
Ridiculously over-priced IMO.

  2. The Bridal Grace Kelly is HOW MUCH?? For that price, I'd want the original dress!!!

Lovely doll, just wish it weren't "Barbie as......". Mattel did a wonderful Liz Taylor sculpt.

  3. I don't really know who Grace Kelly is, I only know her by name (shame on me), but WOW at the Grace Kelly Trousseau. I don't need her, but I'm gonna buy her anyway.

    Thanks for the pic !

  4. I am STUNNED at Mattel's Silkie price increase this year. Getting WAY out of my budget, considering that I have to give my first born child to IT! LOL

  5. I am also SICK of "Barbie As.." Not going to buy these imitations anymore, because Mattel artists can really knock it out of the ball park if they want to.

  6. I think the Silkstone Grace is beautiful.. Not at all like the other Silkie faces. How much does the trousseau cost? I couldn't tell on the Japanese site.

  7. @Anonymous: I don't know the price of the trousseau. Perhaps another reader will post.

  8. Hi Terri,

The Trousseau is listed the same price point as the Bride Grace Kelly, $179.00.
Too steep for me - and the fashions are underwhelming - nothing spectacular or must haves for sure.
One side of me is disappointed because I wanted very much to like this new collection - but my frugal side is relieved because I don't want to spend (or try to save) that kind of money.
Mattel is getting ridiculous with their prices this year - licensing fees or not - these unarticulated, stiff mannequin style dolls do not justify 179.00 price tags(nor the 2 fashions - that is disgraceful)no pun intended.
    ;)

  9. @Vin: I saw a low price of $129.
Still pricey for an unarticulated doll and two outfits.

  10. I would be happier with the Grace Kelly doll if the neck wasn't so long and thin. I prefer the look of the Silkstone doll.

  11. It's a silkstone doll plus two outfits. IMO that is not "too pricey". People are paying way too much for IT dolls that have pink heads ($175 - really??), so what is the big deal!! At least the silkstone dolls have matching skin tones.....

  12. Terri, my doll dealer says that a THIRD Grace Kelly doll comes with the Trousseau wardrobe for $149.00. ( Price also posted on Angelic Dreamz site but no photos).
Is it possible that the Japanese site didn't have photos of everything which makes up the Troussseau? The price is way too high for a frowsy dress and a Mary Poppins coat. ( and a mini Hermes Kelly bag, named for her, natch).
    Thanks!!

  13. @Anonymous: What would be really nice - the Silkstone Grace in the wedding gown plus the trousseau outfits as a giftset. I would definitely buy that!

  14. @Anonymous: I knew that there was a third Grace Kelly doll. What I didn't know was that she was a Silkstone.

Would you give me some tips?Would you think these Grace kelly dolls are good examples of valued dolls to a collector?

  16. @Pat: Buy what you love. Do not go by what other people collect.
Beyond that I am not qualified to advise you on value.
