CDDC Final Scores

In an odd twist of the rules (?) those with the highest scores did not win the top prizes.

Prizes were awarded according to division winner. Although Cholo Ayuyao topped all other participants, because he was in the Intermediate category, he only won second place. Huh?

I'm not saying that the other leaders in their categories, Kevin Roberts as a Beginner and Anita Stoklosa as a Professional, did not deserve to win for their efforts. They did a great job!

The overall CDDC winner was Cholo and he should be recognized as such.

  1. I sooo don't get how the judging works...but I LOVED Cholo's work all throughout the competition.

  2. Update: One of the winners sent me a link to the competition rules so I could see the explanation of how the winners are chosen. It's so the categories aren't competing against each other. But they are anyway.

I still stand by my opinion. There should be one overall winner because in this case, just because someone was in the Professional category, that person won the best prize.

  3. I am curious to know what criteria is used to determined who is Professional, Intermediate, or Beginner? I also agree that there should be an overall winner based on the total number of points.

    1. I was told by one of the entrants that they put themselves in the categories.

  4. I was confused before CC finished, because I've read the rules and I knew that first place would belong only to professional division. Cholo is the top of doll's fashion this year, and he can do things that nobody can.His creations are truly couture compared to all participants. How does a second place has more than 100 points than the first? As Joan Rivers would say:"This is the fashhole".

    1. I think the solution - if the scoring continues to be done the same way - is to solicit 3 of each type of reward. Perhaps there could be 3 first place awards and one overall top award for the person with the total highest score.

  5. I think it makes some sense to judge the contestants against those in their category. It wouldn't be fair to judge the beginners against the professionals. The gap in skill level is just too great. I don't have a good solution to the problem.

Perhaps Cholo was badly categorized, but that's a different problem. The tiered categories were a great idea, but have some kinks they need to work out.

  8. I did not understand how Cholo who clearly won the Competiton gets 2nd place and why was he in the Intermediate category in the first place? If they aren't competing "against" each other then there are three winners. One for each category.
I have to ask, What's with the self imposed affected verbiage of the blogger? Who is that and why won't she/he come forward? I cannot even read the blog without getting a spit up in my mouth.
The contestants were all great. Kudos to sticking it out! I did enjoy the "show".
