Black and White Tweed Suit Silkstone BFM

I was waiting for the Barbie Collectors' Club to start up again before ordering. Barbie.Com sold out and the Club is another story. I have a feeling it's not going to happen at all.
A few doll dealers still have her.  I purchased mine from Cheryl's Dolls & Collectibles whose price was $69.95. She shipped very quickly. Just ignore the evangelist christian literature she encloses with your merchandise. Not kidding. What is it with these people?
Here is one of Mattel's promo close-ups compared to a close-up of mine.

Is mine a little wall-eyed? The promo shots are always perfect, aren't they?

I thought she'd look cute with another black & white suited Silkstone.

Someone spilled the cream.

  1. She's still on backorder not sold out. I hate when they do that- the site suddenly also says the King of Crystal Cave Ken "isn't available" at the moment but will probably come back up for sale.

    1. Thank you. What about that early availability they offered to club members? Was it on back order then, too? Also, who are you?

  2. Sorry to say this, but Cheryl from Cheryl's dolls is not only a zealot with her evangelical crap, but she is also completely incompetent. In fact, I think she is actually senile. I have received some bizarre emails from her when I pre-ordered things. Like she would confirm and then cancel on me a month later. And then out of the blue I would get an email confirming a doll she had cancelled on me months ago. And one time she blatantly lied about not having a doll, until I said I would order another one from her, then all of a sudden she had it again. She has cancelled on long awaited IT pre-orders and what were grail dolls and later sold them on secondary market. I hear she has done the same to others. I would avoid her. In fact, there should be some kind of a Yelp review type of thing for doll dealers.

About this Silkstone: I got burned by the lacking quality of Silkstones last year so I am just scared to buy anything. What do you think of the quality? Is it what you were expecting?

    1. Wow! I had no idea about Cheryl. Is this a common thing? I'm glad I got my doll with just a bit of evangelical stuff. Sorry you had that experience. As far as quality, this doll was what I expected - maybe even better.

    2. I must have bought from her before as I remember getting evangelical literature...

  3. She's quite cute! I'm not usually one for Silkies but I did preorder her; I couldn't resist the red hair and the suit. (Thanks for posting these two together, too -- it reminded me I wanted to find a Walking Suit, I love that outfit!)

That patio set is also fabulous!

    1. Thanks! I want the "Boucle Beauty" black and white suit, too, but not the doll.

  4. Doesn't it kind of look like no more BC Club this year? Since it's already May and all...

I swore off Silkstones because of the cheap and basic fashions when they introduced the articulated body, but I really love this look. It's going back to their 1950s inspired couture roots.
