ReplyDeleteIt's JennFl flickr I think all Jem's characters will use these headsculpts, Elise is very coveted, so they won't give away her sculpt in a "chep" doll I guess.

DeleteMy dealer is already sold out of their dolls, thanks goodness these do not interest me at all, I have bought so many IT dolls this year, I am happy to watch the feeding frenzy from afar...the edition sizes seem to be larger than the regular FR lines, so here's hoping everyone gets a doll without having to resort to secondary market prices...

ReplyDeleteI do have the impression that whatever originality Integrity used to have (which wasn't stolen from Haute Couture), they've really lost it now.
This might be of some advantage to the buyers, but, frankly, who would want to buy such cheap looking dolls only because they stay available?
It's a sad thing though, such a decline.

IT never produced "original" designs. What it did produce was high quality, detailed fashions made from quality fabrics. I miss that. However, I am still able to get a few dolls that I love from them annually.
DeleteBTW - None of the Jem fashions are meant to be original. They are all actual fashions that the cartoon character wore. While some general IT fans may purchase them, I think they are really being marketed to the comics collector crowd. The original Jem doll was quite popular at Comic Con this summer.
I was busy watching G.I. Joe, Transformers, Voltron, Robotech, Star Trek, and the evening news. I thought Jem was tacky, even back then, with the neon fashions & big hair.
ReplyDeleteI'm a comic fan (not an 80s anime cartoon fan)and I have zero interest in these...play value or collectible value - they have zero value/interest for me.
ReplyDeleteThe cartoon was in the mid 80's which in my book doesnt make it vintage or that far in the distant past to make it that nostalgic either...it's just...there.
Now if they decided to produce Warren Publishing (presently Harris comics I think?) early to mid 70s "Vampirella" cast of characters - that would be another story! ;)
I would give my eye-teeth to have Vampi, Pantha and Adam (and Pendragon) as part of my Pop Culture collection! Hot Toys- where are you when we need you??
As for the Synergy sculpt...it looks more like the Katy Perry sculpt they used about 5 years ago...?
Guess its just me - I really see this "collection" as playline and way overpriced.(Color Infusion was 65.00 per dressed doll...why is this (albeit licensed)character almost twice the amount??)

I'm not feeling these dolls. I still have my original Jem [and her earrings still flash]. Maybe I should enjoy and photograph her. I'd listen to her cassette (it came with my doll).. but I don't know what I would play it on. ;)

I never thought I'd buy one of these new ones but I wanted the male doll and I think the Synergy sculpt is pretty interesting. Sadly, I had to preorder the entire set to get them. Hoping someone will want the other two when they finally ship.
DeleteI just won a vintage first version jem doll (before the smiling mold)that I found before but gave to my sister a long time ago and kind of regretted doing it until I found my new one in an outfit (Command Performance) I wanted when I was 9 but it always was sold out.
ReplyDeleteMy win came in the mail yesterday and I like her better than this mass produced Jem (why didn't they make her like the convention one more or does the promo doll have this bad hair weaving?) I did not and still don't want the original synergy but this new one I like and I now know why because I love the Elise mold. I like the rio too but I'll have to wait for $250 on only 2 dolls is way outta my (sane?) doll fund range for now
AAAARRRGGGH, Terri! I admit it. I was sitting around drinking glass after glass of The Kool Aid. I was obsessed with the latest Silkstones. Like a fool, I didn't keep up with my favorite doll blog site: YOURS!!! I wasn't even aware this new wave of Jem was coming and just like Hollywood Jem --- missed out again!!! I'm beginning to think for the sake of the collector's market, the industry would rather create a frenzy than have a doll make big sales. Only 1,000? Really? On pre-orders!!! This series proved to be popular. Why not make more?!? I may have to give up on this new Jem series. They're already over priced, seem impossible to get, the 80s wasn't the greatest fashion period in history and let's face it, though beautiful --- it doesn't even look like Jem. (Unfortunately, I never liked the original dolls.) But, I was willing to be on board for AT LEAST the Holograms and the Misfits -- if not all of them. :-( Again. That's what I get for not keeping up with you. You've always kept me well informed.
