Nu Fantasy Malicious and Pure

Nu Fantasy dolls Malicious and Pure arrived today.
Malicious uses the Jasper Dynamite Girls sculpt.  The hairstyle came out good and the doll looks fairly close to her promo except for the faux fur on her jacket which looks very ratty. I will probably remove it if I can do so without damaging the rest of the jacket. The gown is beautiful. It's all one piece although it looks like separates.

Multi layers are actually one piece.

Sadly, the gorgeous neckpiece does not open far enough to put on the doll.  I was going to contact customer service but I decided that I would take off the doll's head to put it on. I don't feel like waiting 6 months for a replacement. I wonder if anyone's neckpiece arrived with the proper size opening. It is not flexible and cannot be bent open.
The gown has a slight train. Its fabric flows and drapes nicely.

This gal has major lips and eyebrows. I think her mouth could have been painted smaller to look more like the promo.

Erin as Pure is cute. The construction of her dress is not good. The fit is poor in the bust and the stitching is uneven. Compare the promo to the real life dress.  The attempt at draping and/or pleating of the skirt part didn't work. I'm not sure exactly what it was supposed to look like because it doesn't do either.  A better fabric could have been chosen to accomplish the desired look.  She'll be a great doll when redressed. The boots look good but I haven't taken them out of their package.

Below:
Here's a great example of why choosing the right fabric is important. The doll on the left is Pale Fire Vanessa. The construction of her gown is perfection. The right weight and type of fabric was used. If you've never seen this gown in person, I can assure you that it is amazing.  I don't understand how those in charge had the nerve to release the gown on the right.

  1. Terri, your posts always make me smile and I thank you for that as well as your honest reviews. Honestly is always the best policy. XO <3

  2. That necklace is very cool. Is the head soft enough to remove without having to heat it? You would think IT would have had the forethought to do this if the necklace could not be put on the doll in the conventional way.

  3. Sad. I know a few folks who thought Malicious was going to be the Kyori sculpt. Selling DG as collectibles seems like a downgrade to me. I thought IT said at the last convention they going back to producing Quality dolls (who knew they had made the decision to move away from them).

Malicious' hair is close to the prototype.. but not close enough for me. I'm glad that I didn't order either of these.
    Thanks for posting, Ms. G.

  4. @MJ: You are a true fan. Thanks.

@Alken: I'm really interested in finding out if they all came with a small opening.

@James: This is the problem with pre-ordering. These gals were part of a huge pre-order impulse fest that took over my mind and body months ago. Now I'm paying the price. They're not that bad but when it comes to collectibles, nothing should be bad at all. Fortunately only 3 or 4 remain and two of them are FR2.

  5. Is the "fur" the flyaway stuff that looks like teased out yarn? because that's what it looked like at IFDC. I actually liked it, but I wouldn't call it fur at all. I don't remember the promo photo being clear enough to show it though. I'm gonna guess the DG sculpt is done in the harder vinyl at least. I want that necklace. It's beautiful.

  6. Terri, do you think there is a basic problem lately with the production of the clothing and accessories after they leave the "design and proto-type stage". I wonder how the factories can possibly keep up with so many different styles, at such a challenging level of miniaturization. It seems that excellent miniature fashion is a lot more about engineering and material selection than pretty drawings and drapings.

  7. @Anne: There's always the possibility of intention gone wrong. I've seen it from every doll company that puts out promotional images before the actual doll arrives. Some are worse than others. I would have never put the Integrity Toys name on the Natalia Private Goddess dress. It was shameful. And the real production dress looked just as bad as the promo. Their products are uneven in that some are amazingly wonderful and some aren't. Let's call it a lack of consistency in quality control and design.

  8. Sort of pointless to design a neck piece that doesn't fit isn't it? I would think Quality Control would do a dry run on 25 + pieces for fit before release. I like Malicious' Ankh hairstyle- shame the neck piece can't complete the look.

  9. What a shame about that beautiful neck piece. Very disappointing. I still think you should contact the company. One certainly should not have to remove the doll's head to get it on even if one is able. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

  10. @Carin:
Yes, it was very disappointing but I have it on a different doll right now. I took her head off to get it on. It doesn't lay properly either. Ugh. I had to tape the back to the doll's back to keep it from spinning around. Weird.

  11. The DG Malicious head is made out of the exact same vinyl as FR Kyori. The difference in DG and FR is their bodies (DG once used the FR second edition body but has now been upgraded) and that the quality of the fashions. FR fashions are supposed to be of higher quality. But again the face sculpt is not of higher quality and Integrity never said it was. Most collectors have difficulty in wrapping their head around this.

  12. Just got my Malicious today and the neckpiece doesn't fit mine either. Such a shame because it's an interesting piece of jewelry that would have looked terrific. Other than that disappointment she's a beautiful doll.

  13. @Anonymous (one of you!) That's sad. I'm not happy that mine isn't the only one. Someone overlooked an important fact - the width of the neck.

  14. Hi Terri!. My name is Carmen. I was the anonymous poster today with the non-fitting Malicious necklace. I wish that I could've given you happier results on the neckpiece. :) When I checked your blog a couple of days ago and I read your review about these two, I knew that was the first thing that I wanted to check when she arrived today. I've gotten use to the inconsistent quality with IT products and it's really something that you shouldn't have to get use to. I'm glad it was just the necklace and not the hair or a head body mismatch. However there comes a point when I can't be much more forgiving especially in this economy. As much as I love Integrity's dolls I'm just not sure how much longer I'm going to be willing to spend over $100 a pop on a doll that is great except for this, that or the other. Thanks for letting me vent a little. Your blog is always a great resource for the new arrivals.

  15. Huge disapointment on the neckpiece indeed... It was the one thing I liked the most about Malicious :)

...as for Erin, she seems really pretty, but her outfit really seems to have severe lack of quality.

  16. oh no, I was so looking forward to using that necklace...it was my favorite thing! sigh, I have had issues with THREE dolls just this year alone...lately instead of being excited when an package comes from IT, I am anxious...

  17. My dealer told me that Integrity is offering a discount on Malicious because of the defective necklace. You should contact your dealer, they may know more.
