On Friday, the members of the W Club were introduced to the third 2015 club exclusive. It is a 2 doll set of the Nu.Face twins, Lilith and Eden. The 'special' W Club 10th Anniversary price is $199.
Deposits of $25. are due immediately but we won't see the dolls for at least 5-8 months!
I don't like being locked in for such a long time for a doll I don't even collect whose hair is just about the strangest style I've ever seen on a doll.
These two do not appeal to me. Prior releases of these characters have been much more interesting and prettier.
But they are nice dolls and I think people will order them just to have a set of twins as they are hard to get. The edition size will be based upon how many in the club order so it could go over 1000 and most likely will. Not quite exclusive anymore.

I agree that these are not the best looking representations of the twin. Those are very, uh, different hairstyles. The outfits have that young stylish look that is what I want for dolls who are supposed to be in their twenties. Plus, the jewelry is something I haven't seen before from IT, and I like it. As always, we'll have to see what they look like in person. I didn't like the promo shots of As Dusk Falls Eugenia's hair, and it ended up looking much better IRL.
ReplyDeleteYou're also on point that people -- including me -- are going to order them just to have a set of twins. I joined the IT collecting world too late to buy any as they came out, and the cost of buying them has outweighed my desire for them. The only doll with this sculpt that I own is Loverly, and I have found her to be pretty versatile.
The best thing about this offering is the price; basically $100 per doll fully dressed and accessorized. The second thing is the fashions which I like quite a bit. I do not collect the twins but I am seriously considering purchasing; keeping the outfits and selling the dolls. There seems to be quite a bit excitement at the club for them.
ReplyDeleteThey are a decent price and if you like the outfits, it's a good idea.

I really like them and think they are gorgeous - with some tweaking. They have a lot of potential. The curl does not bother me, it is lovely, but there is a chance that if not done right it may look weird in real life, like cup-cake frosting or something. Otherwise, the hair color and screening is very nice.
ReplyDeleteI find the outfits (black again, meh) kind of unimaginative and boring. First of all, it is all black again and then some of the individual pieces venture into a style and direction I don't collect - leather jackets and those leggings (ewww - I mean really? Leggings?). I think they had a chance to really make this set stand out fashion wise, both color and fabric wise. They could have made an effort to use some colors (maybe resort colors) - something a little bit more interesting than black and grey with a hint of pink.
The one thing that bothers me is the eyes: they look drunk or drugged and in some cases wonky. I hope the final product does not look like that.
I actually welcome the late arrival of these. With so many dolls on the horizon and the upcoming convention, my wallet could use a much needed respite.
I totally agree with you about the hair not coming out as shown in the promo. It looks like a difficult style to achieve.

I love them! Compared to previous releases, they look fresh, outfits have edge, but boots and bags lack color. The screening is OK, cant wait to see them IRL. I agree with you, release date is too far away, sometimes I just loose the interest until they arrive... Because of that, I actually sold several of them just before their arrival. I noticed ITBEs are always ready for shipping, whereas that's never the case with FR or NuFace, not fair.
ReplyDeleteITBEs are pre-determined edition sizes and lotteries. Sucks for a lot of people who do want the dolls but who don't ever win lotteries cause IT doesn't like them. This way, because they make them to order, and everyone has a shot, which I love, it takes longer.
DeleteI guess it depends on one's spending habits, but there is so many pre-orders coming in, especially now before the convention, a lot of people are stretched thin. From now until these girls arrive, there surely won't be a shortage of dolls so I am sure a lot people welcome the later arrival. As much as I would love to see these girls in real, I have no more money left...
Good point!
DeleteThese are a bit of a miss for me, both fashion-wise (just not very interesting to me) and doll-wise. Looking at some of your pics of previous releases of the twins, I think these girls may be getting the worst of it from the change in facial screening style in the past few years. Those eyes and lips need more dimension!
ReplyDeleteA little 'ho hum' going on.
Deleteafter looking at how the separate color is rooted in the close up, if the dolls don't arrive with a style that people like IR, it would be easy to turn them into wrap ponytails. It would not be that hard to make them into similar styles to the wild at heart twins but with a wrap.
ReplyDeletei'm not in love with them, but it's 2 NF 2 bodies if nothing else. i really see this as more of a mix n match set combined with other NF pieces than something i really love as a whole.
most likely, the edition will be much larger than anything coming up at convention in a week.
