Save the Date: Brighton on April 3, 2014

The second and highly anticipated resin BJD from Kingdom Doll, Nelson, goes on sale Thursday, April 3, 2013 at 6:30 PM British time. (No UTC/GMT offset) However, on March 30, Europe starts Daylight Savings Time so the time will go forward by 1 hour.  Believe me, I'm confused, too.
If you live in my time zone, this is what you would pull up:

Here is a link to a world clock for you to calculate what time it is in your own city when it's 6:PM in London. Make sure to use it after BST begins.

Now that time zones are out of the way, are you going to try for this beauty?

Alexandra sent me these gorgeous pictures.

No, the chair isn't included. It looks like the deck chair I have from one of Sandra Stillwell's events.

Brighton will be $675, she is dressed in wide legged trousers, her top is different from the FDQ cover as the actual fabric we used is Ralph Lauren tissue silk very expensive and gorgeous, she has a boating sweater, wood effect high heeled wedge shoes, a working miniature umbrella, a matching canvas tote with the KD logo on it with rope handles......inside the tote is a perfect miniature Luis Vuitton journal, a coffee cup, a chocolate bite, three vintage postcards from Brighton with a pencil and a small sea shell. (she also has a hand made hard cap wig by Ilaria.)

  1. She is gorgeous! I like her screening even better than Nelson's- and those shoes are totally awesome. She will definitely go fast with only 30 being made so it's good that I don't have my heart set on her completely. Can't wait to see what Hadrian looks like!

    2. YAY! I got one! Whew she sold out just about instantly! (I was able to add a doll to my cart exactly at 10:30, but paypal didn't give me a confirmation so I experimented with checking out with another doll without paypal- and it was sold out) I love that they ship these immediately!

  2. Terri, in the past your blog has touched a lot of topics that could be considered controversial for collectors, so I would personally be interested in learning about how you perceive the criticism towards Kingdom Doll with regards of their dolls being extremely similar to Deva dolls. This is really an open question since I do not own either doll but am possibly interested in purchasing from Kingdom doll.

    1. The criticism was short-lived and possibly driven by jealousy. I am not familiar with Deva dolls. I don't think you will be sorry if you purchase a Kingdom doll.

  3. As one of the people who I assume you are referring to perhaps I can explain my motivations here regarding this issue as I am banned from Prego over this and dont have a blog.I am not motivated by fear or jealosy.I support doll artists and believe there can never be too many choices of innovative companies presenting their wares for collectors to enjoy.Whether sculpted by the artist or comissioned by non sculpting company owners I would be more than happy to see them be successful. What I have a problem with is using other peoples work to build new dolls from.I can only assume spotting similarities or outright exact joint characteristics may be more obvious to those who have actually sculpted? Being inspired by other art or existing dolls is one thing but using existing parts is quite another and I will never find that acceptable.

  4. I think the Kingdom Dolls are just lovely, and the company has been fantastic to deal with too (super responsive). Her body sculpt is really pretty too. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-8A1WDS47YUc/UvL8QJcevbI/AAAAAAAAFSg/rFf44Dz_SQ0/w394-h680-no/IMG_1689%255B1%255D.JPG
Compared to other resin BJDs, http://terrigoldphoto.blogspot.com/search?q=sybarite#.Uz2KRvldXeI I think her body sculpt is one of the prettiest out there. (My only complaint is that her joints are a bit tight/kicky - so she doesn't hold a pose super well, like Sybarite)

    1. Regarding the joints...I have learned how to wire BJDs (not Sybarites) in order to make their posing more user friendly. I recommend that you post on Prego asking for instructions how to wire a doll. I don't have the instructions that were sent to me anymore although I may have posted them on this blog recently. Search!!!

    2. Prego seems to be closed for new members :P Although maybe someone on DOA has a tutorial. I do like the idea of trying...

    2. Just to add some corrective info- Hadrian is the next doll coming up using the "Novante" sculpt- the doll on their Flicker page is the next sculpt coming up this summer.

  6. She and her outfit are lovely and a very nice entry into the BJD market.
