Seriously?
People are actually willing to pay this much money for a 12" Poppy Parker doll.
I am not sure what is more scandalous, that the doll is already at $900 with two days left, OR that while she is in the box, she doesn't look "mint' to me with that messy hair. I can't imagine what that kind of disposable income must be like for a doll that retailed for $150.
Seriously, the prices Integrity wants for its dolls turn me off. Dolls that retail for $150 and above are not at all attractive to me. I am thrilled with $2 dolls from Goodwill. They need me to comb their hair, find clothing that suits them. The Integrity dolls are more like small sculptures that you should not play with.
I personally find any Poppy Parker doll to be ugly. I don't like her sculpt, not even remotely. On top of this, the "bergdorf" screening has a flaw in the eyebrows. They don't line up with her eyes correctly. They are too far over to one side.
Regardless of this, I would never pay this much for a doll. For FR dolls, I will only pay retail price.
Oh, to HAVE that level of dolly budget for a $150 doll!
Did they happen to use "action figure language" in the sales description, by any chance? You know the pitch, "Rare, limited edition, mint in box, value sure to go up..." etc. I see it ALL the time on Evil Bay with Tonners, too. Sellers taking advantage of newbies who don't know that much about collecting a specific brand of dolls or action figures.
I guess you missed this one that went for $2,100.00 http://www.ebay.com/itm/POPPY-PARKER-BERGDORF-GOODMAN-FASHIONS-NIGHT-OUT-MIB-WITH-SHIPPER-INTEGRITY-/200966475352?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eca890e58&nma=true&si=WzQE%252B8R9cZSCoa4kIMvbkP00vkM%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
People sure are crazy to pay that much for a doll ! I'm really a newbie in fashion dolls, and if you don't know anything about these dolls you might actually believe what they tell on Evil Bay. That's why I always make some researches Right now there is an Ellowyne for $ 980 ! And not even in resin !
But well, as long as some people are ready to pay any amount for a doll...... such things will go on and on.
It's really crazy and I'm really disgusted by some sellers
I'm over scalping and over inflated prices. One of the reasons why I stepped back from collecting FR, too expensive. Same goes for Sybarites. I would, love one but they are just too overpriced on the second hand market.
Must be nice to have that kind of money. But you know how I feel about Integrity and the quality of the plastic used for their bodies. I'd rather buy a Syb I like. Or a few Grails.
I do not have the problem with someone giving even $100.000 for the one he/she wants (hope they will not hear me :)))), but I really have a problem with persons selling them, they are not collector, for sure! We all know that real collectors will not buy a doll and leave it in a closet for the next 5 years and wait for the right moment to sell it, hell I can not wait even ten minutes... :))) And the reason why I have problem with them is that they actually KEEP they one in closet for 5 years instead of never buying it at first place and let the real collectors have it and enjoy it...
From my point of view it's absurdly overpriced. I've never seen an ad for Silver Zinger Agnes or Optic Verve or some other so called Grail dolls, but I guess they are sold at similar prices :-( If I had such doll budget I would rather spend it on a Numina doll or an Iplehouse or more likely on exclusive Blythe custom. I understand if someone puts hours and hours of work and an artistic vision into a doll, It can't be cheap ... but to pay such a sum for a doll which was retailed at 130-150$ ... that's a bit too much for me :-) Thank you for starting this interesting topic, Terri!
I do not publish readers' links or email addresses. If you wish to contact me or wish me to see something, find me on Facebook and send a FB message. In addition, Blogger is not letting me comment on comments! I'm trying to reconfigure this but I'm at a loss how to do so.
Wish I had one to sell!

ReplyDeleteHave they bid it up themselves? I can't believe it. That's a case of buyers remorse waiting to happen.

ReplyDeleteIt really is waht the market will bare. If someone is willing to pay the price who cares?
ReplyDeletewell said. Although I am poor, but I understand if a person can earn 7 digit, then 100 or 1000 perhaps sounds similar. LOL, go for jetball
