Nekkid Shots of Penelope

Everyone wants to see what the new body looks like.  Here are a few shots I took with my iPad in the kitchen a few minutes ago - unedited.

  1. I want to like this doll, but I don't, not one bit.
this is supposed to be Tonner's reaction to the TullaBelle and the Popovy dolls, which are pushing the World of fashion dolls towards a more younger style of dolls....and yet I feel that tonner has once again Tonnerized a line that could have been great, but they gave her a bubble head and ugly face paint (these dolls have no emotion no SOUL!!!) and the articulation falls way shorter than it should have been....

    1. Be nice, Adrian. Actually, her face paint is, IMO, pretty nice. It's soft and blended, not harsh, heavy and chunky. You know what I'm talking about. She is a little Popovy-ish.

  2. Reminds me of Antoinette, minus the ankle joint. Or am I not looking carefully enough?

    1. No ankle joint. You are seeing straight.

  3. Terri, point-blank............ SHE will be able to fit into more Gene clothes than Antoinette!!! (Love's Ghost, etc.) Wish for a smaller head, true, but she will be a hit!!! Hands? Depends on the outfit. Really don't mind the open mouth......... what an option to give her a semi-smile. ALSO... love the asymmetrical face. Normal, human, and fun.

I DO think I like her (but still want her head more in proportion). Mr. Tonner..... still big on Tyler, Sydney, and Esme, but.....

I think Deja Vu tickles me in some sense. The stands really have to adjust to the 2013 standard of shoes-flat to REALLY HIGH platforms.

NOW............... get those Flagship girls (Tyler, Sydney, Esme)- whip those bodies into shape! Same body (maybe slimmer) elegant knee joint.

As in a horserace....Barbie, JamieShow, Tonner....neck-in neck. And the winner is?......................

    1. I still like my Tylers and Sydneys, etc. They aren't going anywhere.

  4. I really thought Tonner was going to do something different with articulation. Deja Vu looks similar to his other doll bodies. I know there are differences, but basically it looks like a Tonner body. I was really thinking he was going to do a double jointed elbow or knee, similar to the JS or Syb dolls. I was thinking really edgy. Don't get me wrong--she is beautiful. Just, not particularly different enough for me to ever buy one. Hope you got home safe and your travels were enjoyable! don

  5. The Deja vue doll looks okay, but not enough for me to want to buy her. I don't like her hands, and really, her body is so little girl-ish.

  6. Interesting!...I wouldn't have expected them to go to all the trouble of a new body only to drop the ankle joint.
Can't wait to see some pictures of the body next to an Antoinette.
The face is very pretty....but the head is huge.
I realize this is something of a Tonner trait but with the move to narrower shoulders and necks (Antoinette's especially) the oversized heads now appear gigantic. Like heads of the "Peanuts" characters. H'mm perhaps this would be a good licensing opportunity for Tonner since they are already going for the look.
I wonder if the body will take the Tyler and Sydney heads?
All in all I will pass on this line. Cute but not cute enough for me.
