Inti on Prego posted a load of pictures of the new Hells Belles doll, Neurotica, from Marl & B.
Here are a few of them:

Honestly really enjoy reading your blog, but this is just another same doll from SF same face different make up, a dress that looks like it is made of plastic, shoes that look like they don't fit, and covered in God awful tattoos. Whatever floats your boat but just so unimpressed by a company that basically produced the same sculpt over and over again and has the audacity to charge 7-8 hundred dollars for a doll that is not much more than a puppet. And I love how it was "SOLD OUT" a few days after it appeared on Marlbe.com but now there are a "Few" left, when I show that if you try to buy 42 as of yesterday that is how many were left. And Superfrock constantly sells out dolls on their site only to have them magically re appear after sold out, sometimes even a year later, funny about that.
ReplyDeleteYour opinion would be more valid if you signed your name. An anonymous dig at a company is cowardly.
DeleteAnonymous: I couldn't disagree more. Every company recycles faces, from Tonner to Integrity, even Enchanted doll.... and those dolls sell for $5,000 plus dollars.
ReplyDeleteWhat makes Sybarite special is the attention to detail, just that wig alone is a work of art. Maybe tattoos are not your thing, maybe Sybarite's face and unique screening is not to your personal preference, maybe the concept is tacky to you. However the point of art is to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. As an artist statement, Sybarite dolls lead the way. If they didn't then companies like Tonner would be knocking them off (e.g. Precarious line!)
Lastly, what is the point and purpose of slamming a doll? No one is forcing you to buy her. It's one thing to buy a doll, and when it arrives assessing the quality as Terri does. However just because you don't see value in something, doesn't mean it is invaluable to another. And I FYI, I audaciously spent $$$$ for this Hell's Bell doll and could not be more delighted.
Congratulations, Erick! She is a beauty. I opened the box to peek but I'm not taking her out, yet.
DeleteEnjoy.
I think her dress is totally stunning... it is custom-printed and the fabric is wonderful, one of my favorite outfits. And the shoes fit perfectly. Superdoll actually make a point of using the Venus sculpt for most of their dolls, they are all "clones". She's really edgy, I'm in love.
ReplyDeleteKatie, I agree. I love the Venus sculpt and I can't wait to debox mine. For now she will stay safely in her box until we get to our new home.
DeleteI think anonymous is not being cowardly, there can be a rather huge backlash when stating ones honest opinion about a company or a doll, I did not feel that this poster was attacking doll owners per say, but stating their own feeling about this doll, just like others have stated positive things too (would Erick have taken the time to post such a thoughtful response if not for anonymous' post?), keeps life interesting, and thankfully we live in a place where we are entitled to freedom of expression..both positive and negative. It is GOOD that we all have different desires, likes, and opinions....do I like this doll, yes I do...did I buy her, no, I have my eye on another coming out so...I personally would not compare Sybarite dolls or many other fashion dolls that are made in China to Enchanted dolls as much of the work is done by the artist herself and a fashion can take 200-350 hours to complete by hand... JMHO! :)
ReplyDeleteTo post a generalized attack on a doll company under the cloak of anonymity is cowardly. Erick signed his post and is someone who posts often.
DeleteYou might want to read that post more carefully. It was an attack in general on Sybarites and the company that produces them.
Sweetheart, I know about backlash.
As far as freedom of expression - you certainly can express yourself but a personal blog is someone's living room and when you are in their house you follow the rules. It's not any different than following the rules on a doll board.
Golly Gee, Yes I would post to any person "anonymous" or not. I've replied to Terri and not always agreed (she does the posting...since she moderates her blog.) My statement about Enchanted Doll simply reflects the reuse of face sculpts... why can she use the same faces but Superfrock can't? My real issue was with knocking Superdoll Inc and MarlB and passing judgement on those whom spend their money of dolls they like. Superdoll is a trendsetter often copied, and Marl has been dealing in dolls LONG before one could even have a blog to post on. Opinion is awesome, various ideals about what is beautiful is also awesome, but attacking quality of a doll you don't own, and business character and ethics while using the "anonymous" moniker is bull sh*t.
ReplyDeleteOh my lord...I think the sybarites are just beautiful... they are hand painted so each one really is one of a kind! but but i will say i prefer gothica a toxica over nuerotica, but she is still very pretty! and enchanted dolls are beautiful too, i just dont have 5,000$ to spend! so i have to buy the next best thing! and you know sybarites are very exspensive to make too! we all have opinions though!
ReplyDeleteI saw a price on a new Enchanted Doll set at $18,000. uh huh
Deleteoh i know ive seen them go for $40,000 + ....they are beautiful....i just dont have that much, lol. but almost every syb turns out to be beautiful....i bought a nude katana and ended up falling in love with her! she was on my list of dolls i really didnt like but someone sold her to me for 250$ Shipped .....that was just to great of a price to pass up!
