News, reviews and photographs of Modern Fashion Dolls including Kingdom Doll, Fashion Royalty, Sybarite, Tonner Doll, Gene Marshall, Barbie and my own experiences as a doll collector.
@5thavenuevixens..I think the deadline is in a week or so. @JimmyBoy: Would you believe there is no documentated origin of the word cocktail? It is a strange word.
I don't like her huge forehead. Reminds me of something out of an Outer Limits episode! She doesn't look like Vanessa anymore. I like everything else, but that forehead isn't pretty!
I have to say I am not 'feelin the love' for these new faces. I am not sure what it is...maybe I just remember and love the originals. That may not help in the novelty and business depts. but I don't feel the need to buy and I loved FR for several years since the very first Veronique.
It just amazes me how upset people are the "new" mold - they just changed her mouth, it's the same sculpt otherwise. Anyway, I like her, love the outfit, and hope her forehead isn't as high as it appears in the pictures, lol.
She is lovely and evokes a memory of another doll for me. Do you remember Portrait Glamour Tyler Wentworth by Tonner? ( There's one or two on eBay if you want to check out the dress and hair). Of course, more detail can go into a 16" doll, but I LOVED Portrait Glamour.. Then found out she was SO unpopular at the time that the Tonner store was selling her for like $30.
Somehow, that Tyler is popular now. I tend to think this Vanessa is going to be a " sleeper" hit in much the same way. :) I LOVE glamourous dolls!!!
really not loving her..... I don't think its the facemold which brothers me... more like the eyes which the latest Vanessas have been painted...this one just looks abit crossed eyes- like they look straight at you... abit scary looking... also not sure i love the hair either cause her forehead looks VERY VERY high.....
I think the accessories are amazing but the doll itself is kinda flat for me. When I first saw her I thought of Lush Life Vero but now I'm thinking it is more of a rehash of Midnight in Monaco. And that just seems really lazy to me. I really don't like those pouty Poppy looking lips and she looks really unhappy and I don't want my dolls to look unhappy. I have the new Vero from the W Club lottery and her new look also makes her look unhappy too so I doubt I will add any more to my collection. The price point is reasonable though - you seem to get more by way of intricate outfit and accessories than you do for some of the far more expensive FR2 dolls. Of course actual pics of the doll are liable to change my mind. LOL
Not liking the forehead and the hairline. A little widow's peak would give it definition.
The eyes look like they go in two different directions. I have had a few Vanessa's that arrived with this look. They are hard to photograph because only one eye looks at the camera. LOL.
The earring stud piece look a little too big for her. Dress is Barbie okay. 6 out 10.
I love her! I think the dolls and fashions look better with a less full chest line. The face with this face mold looks more serious somehow. The old Vero face looked cute and happy.
I do not publish readers' links or email addresses. If you wish to contact me or wish me to see something, find me on Facebook and send a FB message. In addition, Blogger is not letting me comment on comments! I'm trying to reconfigure this but I'm at a loss how to do so.
Did I miss ordering her? I never got an email?? I think she's pretty

The dress reminds me a bit of the Enchanted Evening Barbie fashion, only Vanessa's is more glamorous and obviously modernized.

ReplyDeleteDon't care about these new Vero/Nessa molds, but seriously only want outfit and accessories (Fabulous!). I'll definitely order.

ReplyDeleteIs this a rehash of the Midnight in Monaco IFDC 2003 doll?
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping it is just the lighting but her large forehead does look somewhat lopsided in the first two pictures.
ReplyDeleteJewelry looks good.

All dressed up for the party, but it looks like she forgot her dentures!
