My Easter Bonnet and Basket

You can stop wondering why I purchased so many cheap Barbies. Here is the hat I made for the Easter themed meal event in Kansas City.

The hat is made from three styrofoam wreath forms which I wrapped in ribbon. The crown of the hat is cut from a dollar store straw hat and hot glued in. I glued in thick piping cord to cushion the hat as it is quite heavy. The ties are pinned and hot glued.

My husband cut off legs and arms for me and I tossed in a few extra heads that were left over. Everything was embellished with trinkets that I had in my sewing room and broken bits of doll jewelry. It was a great way to get rid of stuff I will never use. The curly stuff on the top of the hat is from a bag of doll hair from Michaels.

Altogether the project cost about $60. The styrofoam forms were the most expensive part of the hat. I had everything else except the Barbies. People sold them to me for the cost of shipping! There are a lot of worthless Barbie dolls out there just waiting to be cut apart.

Sandra Stillwell Presents: "Every Day's A Holiday" Souvenir Fashions

The amount of stuff I came home with from Kansas City borders on the obscene. Besides the things I bought, we were given an incredible array of fashions and swag. Today I had some time to photograph most of the souvenir outfits.
All the ensembles came with gloves but I'm not the most patient dolly dresser and I just didn't put most of them on.

The dolls are mine as we did not get dolls as souvenirs. However....I did win a centerpiece Vita and I also won two Tonner dolls in the raffle. I was very lucky. More about that later.

Those of us who went on Thursday's tour will be getting a fantastic replica of a late 40's TWA hostess fashion. This is a picture of the prototype.
We got an adorable felt circle skirt decorated with Christmas symbols. Other swag included handbags, hats, paper miniatures, and so much more.

Wait until you see the rest of the goodies! Stay tuned.

Tonner's 2013 Fall Holiday Preview

Today the new line of Tiny Kitty dolls was posted on Tonner's website along with Patsy, Agnes Dreary, Willy Wonka, Cami and Ballerinas. You can see them all at http://www.tonnerdoll.com/latest-releases.
Here are the Tiny Kittys:
Dinner Dance-Dressed Doll-$139.99
Dinner Dance - This is the dress under the coat.

Pink Champagne Supper - Dressed Doll - $139.00
Basic Necessities Kitty - Basic Doll - $79.99
Garden Club Luncheon Dressed Doll $139.99
Perfect Summer Day Outfit $79.99
I Danced All Night - Outfit - $89.99
Wine and Roses Outfit $79.99
I have mentioned many times that I have a large Tiny Kitty collection and that I am very happy to see TK return. My first impressions on this collection are mixed. I like Dinner Dance, Pink Champagne Supper and I Danced All Night and will most likely add them to my collection. I don't care for the wig on the basic doll. Usually when Tonner offers a wigged doll, he also offers for sale separate wigs. It would have been a good value if an additional wig were included.
I think the Garden Club Luncheon overwhelms the doll and the shoulders of the dress look awkward. I do love a doll with a hat, though.
So, for me, three items out of a 7 item collection is pretty good.
I hope the line continues to be popular and that we see more well-designed outfits.

Did you know that quite a few of Tiny Kitty's fashions will fit Silkstone dolls and several of the early Fashion Royalty fashions will fit her as well? There are many fashions out there from assorted manufacturers and doll lines that will fit. See if you can identify these.

Includes dollstand and applied eyelashes.

 Price: £355.00 ($555.97 US)

The first two Monoglam dolls are still available. I've not seen this in a while - dolls not selling out. Are people waiting for a sale, hurting for funds or do they just not like the dolls enough to shell out the bucks? Perhaps the hats, which will be offered as a separate package of four, should have been included.
Meadow £384.00 ($601.38)
Velvet £377.00 ($590.57)
There is one more Monoglam doll coming. She is called Lawn and is dressed in green. Three more separate fashions are also expected. This will be interesting.
So far, the only purchase from this line I've made is the set of 5 pastel colored jeans. That offering sold out quickly.
Here is my new Syb repaint (Yian) trying to decide which ones to wear.  Poor girl. She hasn't been in my photo studio yet and doesn't even have a top to wear.

Everyone wants to see what the new body looks like.  Here are a few shots I took with my iPad in the kitchen a few minutes ago - unedited.
