Excellent Tonner Body Comparison Photo from Dreamcastle Dolls

Dreamcastle Dolls' website has a fantastic Tonner database.  I have used it quite often.
This photo is posted there. Of all these bodies, my favorite is Antoinettes. Cami has the same body as do several other characters who came after Antoinette.

Kingdom Doll's New Body Debut

Just released, the Electra Gift Set doll features a totally redesigned body. I took several photos of a doll with the prior body to compare it to the new one.
Eden is on the left; Electra is on the right. Their resin tones are different. Electra is fractionally taller.
Note that the low waist joint is gone. I don't miss it at all. It helps the nude body look more attractive.
The legs are more modeled. See the thighs, knees and calves. They're more shapely.
The arms, too, are more defined and toned, if resin can be toned.  Her neck looks a bit longer but I did not measure it.
Looking at the doll from the back, you can see the upper spine articulated on the surface of the resin and her rear end looks so much better without the joint in the way.

The new body is very easy to pose. The joints hold their position quite well.

Personally, I have a problem with her feet having been made so much larger. Although it is ultra hi-fashion, I have a vast collection of shoes, including Sybarite ultra hi-arch heels and not a single pair fits Electra. Not only is the foot's arch more vertical, the new foot is very wide. For selfish reasons, I'd like the foot to be more compatible with some of my existing collection of Kingdom Doll and other shoes. We may need to petition the designers for replacement feet or surrender and buy an entire new wardrobe of shoes. Hopefully we'll be given several pairs of shoes as gifts at the convention. We've been told that new shoes will soon be offered for sale. Resistance may be futile.

The foot is sculpted beautifully with realistic wrinkling at the back of the heel and the toe bend.

Let's not go here:

A few more shots of Electra.

The gift set itself came with two outfits. One was a bright pink gown with a silver ribbon-like wrap tie and glitter covered silver pumps. You can find a picture of that gown in a prior post.  The other outfit was a black pant suit in the same style as the pant suit from Sinful. A very cute silver shoulder bag, silvery bead necklace and ten skinny bangles were the other fashion accessories.
This set did not come with an additional pair of hands which was very surprising.

Earlier clothing will still fit the new body.

The fun stuff was the contents of her briefcase:
Three passports, each containing her photo,
Three airline tickets,
One hefty gold bar,
Pistol,
Classified job files in a folder with a heavy envelope to hold it all,
Assorted rhinestone diamonds,
Bound stack of $100 bills,
Cigar.

I'm quoting here: "Electra stars in '00 Fabulous' the new series of dolls which feature a character driven interwoven storyline"
Over the years, out of several hundred dolls, I've created back stories for only four of my 16" Tonner dolls. Even the ones meant to represent celebrities were just dolls. Loads of collectors like to make up stories for their dolls and this is perfect for them.  My Electra fits in with her sister Kingdom Dolls.
I admit that I talk to them on occasion and say hello if I've been away for a while. When I'm dressing them, I'll tell them they look great - stuff like that. That's as far as the anthropomorphism goes around here.
I do believe that there is power in play as Robert Tonner says.  I don't think about problems when I play with my dolls. The time just goes by peacefully - unless something doesn't fit and then I get pissed.

_______

This is the beautiful wig she came with.
Beautiful with or without a wig. Also, see the foot standing in the silver pumps.
Clothes Electra is wearing in this photo are not KD.

Resin BJD Nudes in Comparison by Liane Laughlin

The following photos and text are by Liane Laughlin who has granted permission to reproduce it here.
_______________

Since so many have had questions about the differences between all the various resin fashion dolls, I decided to get my dolls naked for an in-depth comparison. I love each and every one of these brands for different reasons, so I have no hidden agenda. Below is a link to my FBJD Comparison Set on Flickr. I compared Ficon Denimish, JamieShow Angelina, DeMuse Doll Papillon, Deva Doll Nantha, Inamorata Inro, Numina Devon and Sybarite Dionysis. I have a Tonner resin doll around here somewhere too, but did not include her. Seems like there has been plenty of pictures of the Tonner anyways. I don't own a ModsDoll (yet). For holding a pose, the Sybarite won hands down. Others can get into the same positions as the Sybarite, but can't hold the exact same pose without support like the Syb can.

Nu Mood Body Descriptions – Tyler, Dance, Curvaceous and Heroic!

Originally posted by Kevin Von Duuglas-Ittu, Tonner's Director of Social Media on the Tonner Blog. This excellent information contains great pictures of the different Tonner body types being used in the Nu Mood lines.

The Tyler Body – sometimes referred to as ‘The Fashion Body’
• Classic fashion body
• Medium bust
• Slim hips
• Detachable hands and feet
• Thirteen points of articulation
• 16” tall
• Our most popular body style, used in numerous figures over the years. Any clothing made for Tyler Wentworth® will fit this body style. Wears Tyler Wentworth high heel shoe styles.

___________________________

The Dance Body
• Classic dancer body
• Small bust
• Slim hips
• Detachable hands and feet
• Thirteen points of articulation
• 16” tall
• The Dance body is used on doll styles that require a small bust, such as ballet dancers or flappers. The dance body has been used for our New York City Ballet collection as well as our Memoirs of a Geisha collection. Doll can wear most Tyler Wentworth® style clothing. However, we suggest checking the bodice fit before purchasing as tops may be loose on this body. Wears Nu Mood™ Ballet slippers only (high heel feet that work with Tyler Wentworth shoes may be purchased separately).
* Please note that the hips on this body do not rotate.

___________________________

The Curvaceous Body
• Fuller, more rounded body
• Full bust
• Rounder hip
• Detachable hands and feet
• Thirteen points of articulation
• 16” tall
• Curvaceous body is a more womanly body than our classic Tyler body. Doll has a full bust and hip and is suitable for characters who call for an hour glass figure such as 2012 DeeAnna Denton. Nu Mood™ clothing as well as 2012 DeeAnna Denton clothing fit this body. Some Tyler Wentworth® clothing may work—however we suggest trying an outfit on the doll before purchasing if unsure of fit. Wears Tyler Wentworth high heel shoes.

The Heroic body
• Fuller, more rounded body
• Full bust
• Rounder hip
• Toned, muscular arms
• Detachable hands (doll may or may not have detachable feet–check item description)
• Thirteen points of articulation
• 16” tall
• The Heroic body is used for our current comic inspired heroines or where a more muscular body is required. Any curvaceous body clothing will fit this body. Some Tyler Wentworth® clothing may work—however, we suggest trying an outfit on the doll before purchasing if unsure of fit. Wears Tyler Wentworth high heel shoes, unless otherwise stated.

Re-Styling A Doll - A Success Story in Pictures

My friend collector, ParadiseBlue-Jay, recently acquired the Jason Wu designed Neo-Cissy, "L'Enfant Terrible."  I found this doll to be unappealing.  She has hair growing out of her eye for goodness sake. And someone forgot to give her eyebrows. On top of that, her outfit is very sexy for a doll with a child body and a big head. Nuff said.
Poor thing. She's been hit in the face by a crow.
So yesterday he sends me a bunch of pictures. Here are several:
Monaeglo Gown
Acid green hosiery by Linda in Las Vegas. Necklace from Limousine Sybarite.

Shoes are her own.

She looks fabulous now! I love the colors. It's electric!

He also sent me pictures and a review/comparison between the Neo-Cissy and the Avantguard body which follows.

AG looks pissed.
Body review:
There is a feel to Cissy that smells of Integrity. The light weight hollow plastic feel is okay.. not great but I have come to expect that of Integrity. Integrity has a way of dressing up the cheap.

The Torso / arm pit area is the same on both types of dolls. Knees are better on Cissy. They have the swivel knee-cap. The spindle that attaches the feet and hands to the arms or legs are loose on Neo Cissy. The ridges on the Cissy feet/hands spindles are almost non existent. They slide in and out with no grip. Very floppy.. on my doll. They may be better on someone else's.

The Torsos on the AG's are horrible and floppy.. Neo Cissy's are better.. but not great. I think what aggravates me the most about Neo Cissy's feet is that they are so floppy that she couldn't stand on her bare high heeled feet, without the doll's weight forcing the feet to go almost flat. She looks like the weight of her large head has crushed her feet. Flat high heeled feet is not a great look. LOL.

Hands. I am not happy with the Neo Cissy "hand balls" (looks like posing balls at her hand's base) at her arms. They were made to look like the "balls were needed to pose better. Maybe BJD like? There was no need to do that as the spindle goes into the arm close.

Would I buy another? Probably not. If the sale was good.. maybe. I wish Integrity would pay attention to detail on the underlings of a doll and not just the fashion.

Speaking of the fashion.. very nice. Boots are not cut the way the promo pics indicated. Those looked ankle tight.. these look like rubber boots.
______________

I want to thank James for the pictures and for taking the dead crow off the doll's face. LOL.
In addition, I appreciate the review of the bodies as I'm sure my readers will as well.
