Tonner has announced his newest DC Comics character, Wonder Woman #1. Why the #1?  There have been several Wonder Woman dolls from the TDC. Maybe this is the first Gal Gadot sculpted likeness. in a forthcoming series.
The costume looks great but I like to see Tonner's dolls in person before making a decision.  I hope the finished product is prettier. I like the stand as opposed to the usual awkward saddle type. This is much more attractive. I hope it's heavy enough to support her.
I wonder what is  so "totally different" about this body besides the fact that she comes with several different types of hands.

This is the company's description:

The warrior Princess from Themyscira takes form as a 16" character figure of expertly engineered injected plastic and vinyl.  The totally new body has 15 points of articulation and Gal Gadot's likeness is captured in exquisite detail.  The finest saran is used to create lifelike hair set off with an accurate, highly detailed crown.

Battle armor is a must for Wonder Woman and the extreme detail of this set is made for a Goddess.  Accurately sculpted depicting her movie costume, the WW armor consists of a molded breast plate with a genuine leather battle skirt; her armband and gauntlets are made of real metal.

Wonder Woman carries her golden lasso in a genuine leather harness.   Boots are made of detailed vinyl and resin.  Figure comes with changeable open hands, fists and gripping hands.

Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice Collection by Mattel

I'm quite surprised by the good looks of these dolls and the low price of $39.95 each.  I thought I was on the wrong website.

Batman has the new Ben Affleck sculpt. He's fierce! This is so not like Mattel it's wonderful. They're calling the body type Poseable Hero Male. No more Mr. Wimpy.

The Superman Doll uses the new Henry Cavill sculpt. Not bad at all. The hero body is super muscular. No information about the costume or measurements of the doll are posted with the listings.
Wonder Woman Doll's description: The wild card in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice™, Wonder Woman is the daughter of Zeus and an Amazonian princess! Sculpted and costumed just like the movie character, she’s fully articulated and ready to fight with her sword, shield, and her iconic “magic” lasso. Knee-high boots, armored bracelets, and a headdress complete her warrior’s attire.

The costumes are not removable without cutting them off. I think these figures still have a lot of play potential in spite of that. The molded hair on the male figures doesn't bother me although it would be cool if they could have done rooted hair. I'll wait to see them in the stores before jumping although I'd like to have Wonder Woman just for the new articulated body.

Visit to the Tonner Store

When I lived in Woodstock, NY, it was a 15 minute drive to the Tonner store. Now, it takes about 3 hours and doesn't happen very often. This past Saturday was the first time I've seen the store since it moved to Wall St. in Kingston.
It's always fun to spend time chatting with Dr. Noreen. We could talk for hours and cure all the world's ills.
For those that don't know my story with Noreen, here it is. It was 14 or 15 years ago when I went to my first Tonner trunk sale. It was held out-of-doors at the old building on Lucas Avenue. I was really just beginning my collecting as I had accumulated a few Tiny Kitty dolls prior to then. I saw 16" Tylers, Emmes and a few others for the first time that day and met Noreen. She predicted what was to come as far as my collecting would go. Who knew? It's a very fond memory.

These are iPhone pictures. Please remember that you can click to enlarge them.
Enjoy!

Tonner's 2014 SDCC Exclusive Dolls

The super popular San Diego Comic-Con takes place this year from July 24 through the 27th. Those hardy and lucky enough to attend can see these Tonner dolls exclusively at the Tonner booth.  But of course, if they don't sell out there, they'll probably be up on their store the following day or miraculously discovered in the warehouse.

From the Big Bang Theory comes "Sheldon Cooper Special Edition."

Yawn.

From DC Stars a "Vintage Wonder Woman" in resin:

Their description says she's a new Tyler resin head sculpt on a resin Tyler body. She is a very pretty doll but where's the rest of her wondrous body?

She's too thin.

Both dolls are 16". Both are LE 100. Prices were not listed.
