Part I. Celebrating my 16" Tonner Dolls with the BW Body

Over the last few years, my 16" Tonner Doll collection has been thinned extensively. The few purchases I've made were fashions that I used to have and regretted selling.
I have begun to catalog my remaining dolls, sorting them by body type. I begin with the 16" BW (bending wrist) Tyler body. It was, of course, used for many characters. In later years, numerous collectors clamored for change to increase the flexibility of the doll and the appearance of the knee joint.

All of these photos were shot with an iPhone X in daylight, some using fill flash.

"Fill flash is a photographic technique used to brighten deep shadow areas, typically outdoors on sunny days, though the technique is useful any time the background is significantly brighter than the subject of the photograph, particularly in backlit subjects."

"Hearts Aflame" Shauna wearing "Opera Gala"
This doll's hair was originally heat-reactive and would change color when touched. That effect faded away long ago.

Tyler as Theatre de la Mode "Swept Away" 2006
This is one of the most highly sought after Tonner doll. Not only is her face the classic beauty, Tyler, but the stunning fashion is also beautifully constructed.
I have given her a BW body.

The colors of the panels change around the back. Just gorgeous!

Sandra Stillwell Presents: "Every Day's A Holiday" Souvenir Fashions

The amount of stuff I came home with from Kansas City borders on the obscene. Besides the things I bought, we were given an incredible array of fashions and swag. Today I had some time to photograph most of the souvenir outfits.
All the ensembles came with gloves but I'm not the most patient dolly dresser and I just didn't put most of them on.

Romantic Rendezvous
The dolls are mine as we did not get dolls as souvenirs. However....I did win a centerpiece Vita and I also won two Tonner dolls in the raffle. I was very lucky. More about that later.

Those of us who went on Thursday's tour will be getting a fantastic replica of a late 40's TWA hostess fashion. This is a picture of the prototype.
We got an adorable felt circle skirt decorated with Christmas symbols. Other swag included handbags, hats, paper miniatures, and so much more.

Wait until you see the rest of the goodies! Stay tuned.

Tonner 2013 Main Line Release

There's always a mind-blowing amount of new dolls and fashion in a main line release from the Tonner Doll Company. I'm just going to touch upon a fraction of the offerings and will provide a link to the site where you can see the entire debut.

My favorites and the two dressed dolls I will probably buy eventually:

While I am not a fan of the Marilyn Monroe sculpt, I do love this fashion.
In A Dream $199.99
This is Precarious with a non-removable wig. (IMO no wig is 'non-removable,' it's just glued.) I love the fashion and I am quite fond of the Precarious sculpt.
Tamed $199.99

Another Precarious doll whose wig should be a lesson to another doll company that can't get their rooted bangs right:
Think Pink Basic $124.99
Quite pricey for a basic doll but her hair is perfection. Her wig is "white removable synthetic hair." I wonder if that is the same as saran. The sunglasses are adorable.  I like her a lot.

The anticipated "Warm Bodies" dolls:
R $189.99
I laughed when I read part of the product description of this zombie doll:
  • Oatmeal long-sleeve shirt with holes and stains
  • Red hooded zip-up sweatshirt with holes and stains
  • Denim pants with rips and stains
For those who don't  know, he is a character in the new movie, Warm Bodies. He is played by Nicholas Hoult. The likeness is fabulous.

Julie $179.99
This is R's love interest in the movie played by Teresa Palmer. The sculpt - meh.

It looks like Glinda, the Good Witch, has returned. There may be a few details that are changed but this is the same doll.
Glinda, The Good Witch $249.99
Below is a picture of my Glinda taken several years ago. There's no difference except for a necklace on the new one. But it's entirely possible I just didn't put it on my doll. I'm glad it's re-released. She was a stunning doll. The Oz line was incredible.

Here is another early one I found. Now I'm really confused.
 –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
The 22" line got one of my favorite characters, Poison Ivy. Although I do not like her green vinyl, she looks very dramatic. The red hair is stunning, so is the price!
22" Poison Ivy $349.99
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
DeeAnna Denton, Cami, Jon, Antoinette, The American Model and Patsy fill up most of the rest of the offerings.  Sydney and Tyler make brief appearances.

The dressed Sydney leaves me speechless. If I were her mother I wouldn't let her out looking like this. The fascinator is described thus: Red fascinator with faux flowers, rhinestones, and veil. I detest faux flowers on doll clothes.
All Drama Sydney $224.99
Classic Elegance Tyler $199.99
Are we going to find out that Tyler is with child?

The Tonner Ballet Line is pretty. I've never gone there but I do like to look. Here is one of the three offerings from that line:
Wood Nymph $244.99
The ballet feet are removable and come with high heel feet to switch off.

On a topic other than dolls....as a photographer, I don't understand how they let this picture be published.
There are three major issues I would have had to correct. Do you see what they are?

Comical and Colorful Dr. Seuss

I was able to get two of the three Tonner Dr. Seuss fashions. They're colorful and outrageous. If you stare at them for too long, your eyes will hurt. :-)

NuMood Sydney Finally Arrives

After an extremely long wait, NuMood Sydney has arrived. She is easing my dolly withdrawal a little bit. I enjoyed the simple act of combing her beautiful blonde wig and just holding her. She is sitting on my laptop looking at me. I have decided to name her Brook for reasons that will be revealed next month.

I do have the convertible foot set for her but it's packed away. Until yesterday I thought all my dolls clothes were packed as well but then I remembered that my big Tyler trunk is not in a box and it's got some pretty outfits and shoes and Brook might just get the chance to try some.

Nu Mood Body Descriptions – Tyler, Dance, Curvaceous and Heroic!

Originally posted by Kevin Von Duuglas-Ittu, Tonner's Director of Social Media on the Tonner Blog. This excellent information contains great pictures of the different Tonner body types being used in the Nu Mood lines.

The Tyler Body – sometimes referred to as ‘The Fashion Body’
• Classic fashion body
• Medium bust
• Slim hips
• Detachable hands and feet
• Thirteen points of articulation
• 16” tall
• Our most popular body style, used in numerous figures over the years. Any clothing made for Tyler Wentworth® will fit this body style. Wears Tyler Wentworth high heel shoe styles.

___________________________

The Dance Body
• Classic dancer body
• Small bust
• Slim hips
• Detachable hands and feet
• Thirteen points of articulation
• 16” tall
• The Dance body is used on doll styles that require a small bust, such as ballet dancers or flappers. The dance body has been used for our New York City Ballet collection as well as our Memoirs of a Geisha collection. Doll can wear most Tyler Wentworth® style clothing. However, we suggest checking the bodice fit before purchasing as tops may be loose on this body. Wears Nu Mood™ Ballet slippers only (high heel feet that work with Tyler Wentworth shoes may be purchased separately).
* Please note that the hips on this body do not rotate.

The Curvaceous Body
• Fuller, more rounded body
• Full bust
• Rounder hip
• Detachable hands and feet
• Thirteen points of articulation
• 16” tall
• Curvaceous body is a more womanly body than our classic Tyler body. Doll has a full bust and hip and is suitable for characters who call for an hour glass figure such as 2012 DeeAnna Denton. Nu Mood™ clothing as well as 2012 DeeAnna Denton clothing fit this body. Some Tyler Wentworth® clothing may work—however we suggest trying an outfit on the doll before purchasing if unsure of fit. Wears Tyler Wentworth high heel shoes.

The Heroic body
• Fuller, more rounded body
• Full bust
• Rounder hip
• Toned, muscular arms
• Detachable hands (doll may or may not have detachable feet–check item description)
• Thirteen points of articulation
• 16” tall
• The Heroic body is used for our current comic inspired heroines or where a more muscular body is required. Any curvaceous body clothing will fit this body. Some Tyler Wentworth® clothing may work—however, we suggest trying an outfit on the doll before purchasing if unsure of fit. Wears Tyler Wentworth high heel shoes, unless otherwise stated.
