Summer Offer from Madame Alexander Doll Club

Here is a notice from the Madame Alexander Doll Club. You do not have to be a member to order.

Our beautiful Cissy celebrates one of the four Gaelic seasonal festivals. Beltane marked the beginning of summer and in the the long ago past the people of Ireland, Scotland, those in the north of the British Isles, marked Beltane with bonfires, flowers and jubilation. Dressed in a fine, spring green velvet overcoat over a creamy ivory dress with a Celtic style corselete, Cissy is ready to lead the festivities. Beltane Cissy was one of the stunning dolls from the 2009 Premiere and we have only five remaining in our inventory.  We are offering this beautiful doll for only $325.00 and as a special bonus you will receive the lovely Cissy outfit from the 2007 New Orleans Convention Cissy event with your purchase. Shipping is included in the price.

In addition to our Beltane Cissy we have only two Queen Mab Cissettes from the same Premiere. Queen Mab is exquisite and would be a perfect addition to your collection of historical Madame Alexander dolls. Queen Mab is priced at $130.00 including shipping.

Do not miss the opportunity to add one or both of these significant dolls to your collection.

Jamieshow Violet ReStyled

I bought this Madame Alexander fashion (on a doll) specifically because I knew it would be beautiful on my new Violet. The shoes do not fit but the dress fits beautifully. The Ilaria wig was made for Sybarites. I am very happy that it fits the Jamieshow head.
Violet is stunning as a blonde!

J'Adore Gene got Violet's lavender gown.

JAMIEshow Violet Waters "Satin Doll"

Hardcore Gene Marshall fans and even dabblers like me are over the moon with the release of two new resin characters added to the JAMIEshow Gene Marshall line. I purchased Violet Waters "Satin Doll" who arrived today. This doll is a limited edition of only 50 and was $525.

Someone at the factory was a little confused about the names of the dolls.

The new Madra is called "Spotted in Manhattan."  On the box is a label attributing Violet with both names. I suppose the label person had a GENINUE moment. Long term Silkstone collectors will get the joke.

First - the requisite box shots:

I am glad I didn't have to put these shoes on. What I usually do is tape the extra ribbon to the back of the doll's calf with Scotch 3M Magic Tape. It leaves no residue on the fabric or the doll.

Violet is as beautiful as all the promo pictures we've seen. Her eyes are brown. Her eye shadow is violet with a metallic gold highlight. Her lips are coral which matches her perfect manicure and pedicure. She's got the prettiest mouth of any Violet I've seen to date. All in all, she has a truly beautiful face.
The gown fabric has a quality feel and it is well constructed and fitted. The wig cap is well-suited to the era and the hair accessory (what we would call a fascinator now) has a pearl-tipped hat pin that slides right in to her hair and stays on securely. The earrings are aurora borealis crystals set in silver colored metal like the ornament on the ribbon neckpiece.

For the high price of this doll I would have liked a beautiful necklace to have been included instead of the neck ribbon. I removed it as it does nothing for her and looks a little chintzy. A purse and pantyhose are 'missing' as well.  Although I like this doll very much, if this trend continues - high prices with no accessories, I won't buy another.

Violet comes with a JAMIEshow adjustable doll stand. They are the best stands out there.

A wonderful Madame Alexander fashion is on it's way to me and I think it will be perfect for Violet.
"Festiva Paris," whose fashion has been an elusive commodity, is coming. I've been trying to find just the fashion for years to no avail. I finally broke down and ordered the NRFB doll from Matilda Dolls.  Hers was the best price around for the complete doll plus if your purchase is over $50., shipping is free. Works for me. Unfortunately, this version of Paris was released prior to the line's dolls being fully articulated. But no matter, I just want the outfit anyway.
Madame Alexander fashions are exquisitely well made and stand the test of time...at least they were. I haven't bought anything from this line since Jason got in there and ruined Alex. Sigh.

Madame Alexander and Isaac Mizrahi

A line of dolls produced by a collaboration between famous designer Isaac Mizrahi and the Madame Alexander Doll Company debuted at the New York Toy Fair recently.

Isaac Mizrahi said it was a dream for him. From what I see of these two fashion dolls, it looks like the dream was a nightmare.

Neither the fashions nor the dolls approach any standard most of us collectors would use in our own collections. Where is the fashion DESIGN? What's up with the awkward looking fur hat? Either the photographer should be killed or the outfit is just downright awful.
Isaac Mizrahi Classic Iconic – Limited Edition $199.95
Isaac Mizrahi Modern Iconic – Limited Edition $999.95
Look at the terrible stitching on Modern Iconic's skirt, above. This rivals cheap Barbie quality. I really can't believe the trash Mizrahi is putting out there. Embarrassing.
Priced at $999.95, seriously? Does she come with extra wigs and fashions?

The play dolls are listed at $69.95.

All that being said, he has excellent taste in dogs.

Madame Alexander 2013 Dolls

It's that time of year again for me to drool over my secret passion - baby faced dolls. I probably won't be adding new MA dolls to my collection this year as I still look for deeply discounted ones from several years ago.
For this post I will show only the 21" Cissy and 10" Cissette dolls.

21" Madame Alexander-1923 is a fully articulated Cissy dressed as she would've been in 1923 when she began the company. Limited Edition of 125 dolls.
21" Scarlett O'Hara Prayer Dress is a fully articulated Cissy with green eyes and wavy, center-parted, shoulder length brunette hair pulled up on the sides and held with a red bow.

10" Sylvia From the Ballet Sylvia is a fully articulated Cissette.

10" Snowflake from The Nutcracker Collection is a fully articulated, Cissette with blue eyes and upswept black braids wearing a magnificent white tutu.

10" fully articulated, Cissette Celebrates Madame's 90th Anniversary.
Queen Victoria, having sat on the throne for 63 years, is the longest reigning monarch in British history. She set the tone for many aspects of British life but none more so than fashion. She is a 10" fully articulated Cissette.
10" Zelda Fitzgerald - infamous wife of writer F. Scott Fitzgerald - is a fully articulated Cissette.
10" Denise Boulet is a fully articulated Cissette.
10" Theodora, who would eventually be the Wicked Witch of the West, is fully articulated with brown eyes and side-parted brunette hair that's swept to one side and fashioned into a braided bun.
10", fully articulated Glinda, has brown eyes and long, blonde wavy hair.
In Disney's new prequel to The Wizard Of Oz, we come to know the Great Oz as Oscar Diggs, with brown eyes, brown painted hair and goatee.
10" Evanora, fully articulated with brown eyes and side-parted, brunette hair pulled back and styled into a loose bun, looks more beautiful than you'd ever expect the future Wicked Witch of the East to look.
Coffee or Tea with Pan Am, a fully articulated stewardess, as they were called, with short, curly Taffy Tan hair, dressed as she would be in 1970.
10" Scarlett O'Hara Honeymoon Dress is a fully articulated Cissette with green eyes and brunette hair pulled back to a low bun at the nape.
10" Dorothy in the Poppy Fields is a fully articulated Cissette.
10" Wicked Witch of The West and The Winged Monkeys is a fully articulated, green-faced meanie who has dark eyes and black hair pulled up into a top-knot.
10" Glinda The Good Witch and The Lullaby League is a fully articulated, Cissette, with blue eyes and long, curly Taffy Tan hair, wearing a gorgeous pink gown.

And there is so much more. If I were going to pick my favorites, I'd get the Madame Alexander 21" Cissy holding the two little dolls. The Cissette I like best is the Scarlett O'Hara Honeymoon Dress doll.  The cutest ones are the Oz dolls. So adorable!

These are just partial descriptions of the dolls taken from www.matildadolls.com who has the world's most extensive list and pictures of Madame Alexander dolls. All of these dolls can be purchased there. She also carries some Gene Marshall dolls and fashions!

SALE Alert!

Two EXCELLENT Madame Alexander buys today at the Doll Market.

I bought this one last year when it was on sale and I love it.
 GRACEFUL LACE OUTFIT
Designed to fit MA's 16" Alex line of dolls, it also fits Gene and Avantguard.  On sale for $21.97.

Here is the description from the Matilda Company's website:
Graceful Lace gown, a lovely, two-tiered, pink taffeta gown that has been covered with white lace. This gown with the sweetheart front is longer in back for a train effect and is embellished at the waist with a black velvet ribbon.

I ordered this doll today.
HOPELESSLY FABULOUS 50S Siena  16" Alex Runway Line  Madame Alexander LE300

The original retail price of this doll was $149.95. You can find her on the internet for about $79. But at $49.97, you can't beat the price. If you do not know Madame Alexander quality, the clothing is fantastic.
If you look on the internet for a closeup of this doll, you will she that she is gorgeous. I really wanted the outfit, although when the entire package arrives, she may be staying to join my only other Alex doll.

Here is the description from the Matilda Company's website:
Hopelessly Fabulous 50's Sienna Evans with her light grey-brown eyes and blonde curly hair swept up onto an up do is pretty in a light pink silk Dupioni, dropped waist, halter top dress that has a full skirt. The skirt, made more fabulous with box pleats, a pink belt with a rhinestone buckle worn at her natural waist and a scattering of rhinestones, also has a ruffled, pink tulle petticoat. A white fur boa with rhinestone accents worn around her neck, nude thigh highs, a matching bag and pink shoes which have rhinestones on the heels are the reason why 16" Hopelessly Fabulous 50's Sienna Evans is not 'hopeless' at all.

New Madame Alexander Dolls - 2012

Most of my readers know by now that I adore Cissette, Madame Alexander's 10" doll.  There is something about her baby face and MA's attention to detail in their fashions that I love.

There are at least 15 new Cissette dolls and a few "male Cissettes" (how can there be a male Cissette?) I will show only a few in this post but you can click HERE to go to the MA 2012 collection of all new dolls.

Here is Cissette as the Pan Am Stewardess Ltd Edition 200 pcs
She retails for $139.95 and will not be available until July 2012. There is also a 16" Alex dressed as a Pan Am stewardess.

Queen Elizabeth Ltd Edition 175 pcs 10" Doll from the Fashion Collection. $179.95  This is a lot of fashion for a 10" doll to wear.

Cruella De Vil 10" Doll from the Disney Collection $149.95  Expected August 2012

Masai-Kenya Africa 10" Doll from the International Collection $129.95 April 2012.

Nikiya from La Bayadere Ltd Edition 250 pcs 10" Doll from the American Ballet Theater Collection. July 2012. $149.95.

Madame Alexander does not do 10" male dolls well. Their costumes are OK but their faces and features are laughable. These are the so-called male Cissetttes for 2012.

From left to right: Prince Charming, Pope Alexander VI, Rhett Butler, Waldo

The Madame Alexander website has hundreds of dolls in many sizes and categories. Plan to spend a long time browsing!  Click on the logo below to go to the 'collectible' area of the site.
