Tonner 2015 "Guilty Pleasures" Convention Part I

It's really great that the Tonner people are posting the event dolls on their FB page even while the convention is under way.

So far, my favorites are from the break out event called "Wilde Tea Party."

Vintage Tea Ellowyne $165.00
Vintage Baker Pru $165.00
Vintage Kitchen Lizette $165.00

I also loved the Special Exhibit of vintage dolls which included Sweet Sue and Miss Revlon.  Credit for photos was not posted.

There were some very special early Barbie dolls as well on display.

Opening Dinner Event - "Rockabilly" attendees were dressed in square dance attire and received this doll:

Dixie  LE  200   $165.00
Kit head sculpt and Chic body

Maxine  LE  200   $165.00
Magnolia Sculpt and Chic Body

More From TonnerCon 2014 and Carmen Dell'Orefice

Friday Afternoon Wilde Imagination Luncheon

The Ellowyne and Lizette - not very unique. They are 'been there, done that' dolls IMO.
Vintage Confusion Lizette
Vintage Confusion Ellowyne

Dark Attic Evangeline
Evangeline is starting to look more and more like a "normal" doll.  This one is very pretty.

Friday Night Centerpiece
Tyler's dress is not my taste. In this photo, the gathered areas of the skirt do not lay properly. I would not be very happy with her or her hair bump. She does have nice bangs - a rare quality in the doll world.
Update: I have seen the IRL doll and she is prettier than this photo. The dress also looks better than the promo shows.
15th Anniversary Tyler Centerpiece
Here she is, Carmen Dell'Orefice, with the Tonner gang. She is just so gorgeous. Wonderful photos! I love them. I wonder if she had to approve the doll prior to it being manufactured. I wonder how much they paid her for the right to make a doll of her and to appear at the event. What a great thing. I wonder if the press was there to cover it.

It doesn't look much like  her but I like the doll and can't wait until mine gets here.
Look at her gorgeous hands, her simply beautiful bone structure and classy attire. She blows me away.

Photos are from the Tonner Blog page on Facebook.

Stress Relief

With all the stress that accompanies buying and selling real estate I find that injecting some doll activity into my day really helps.
We made a nice little visit to the Tonner Store this afternoon. I don't even have to buy anything to feel good there. The Doll Doctor, Noreen, is always ready for a chat. I can check out whatever new dolls have shown up and gaze at dolls over and over again. Such delight.
Of course the only camera I had with me was my iPhone. Lizette is much prettier in person than the promo picture showed.

Ms. Beetlejuice did not disappoint. She's just as strange and wonderful in real life as she was in the promo.

I saw the Nu Mood dolls, the new wigs but none of the separates were there yet.  Next time I go over there, I promise to take a real camera. Famous last words.

I'm a sucker for free shipping - as if the costs weren't built in to the dolls already. Barbie Collector.com just has to send me a free shipping notice and I'm all over it. I put in my order for the club Silkstone, Afternoon Suit Barbie, and the Walking Suit Barbie. I used my first $20. coupon. New York State took $11.20.
Ugh. I don't want to go off into a rant about taxes but I feel like ranting anyway.

There is an adorable new tote bag on the site. I love the graphic which is different on each side.

Speaking of tote bags, I was able to order a few Jason Wu for Target items recently, one of which was the cat tote. It's adorable. I also got the cat scarf and the cat t-shirt. I ordered a large which is way too big for me. I figured that it would be cut small since Jason's clothes look like they're for a teenage body. I was wrong. If someone out there has a brand new, unworn medium cat t-shirt they'd like to trade for a large, let me know.

The scarf is beautiful and quite large. I rarely wear scarves but I will find a use for this one.
I also purchased two handbags and the blue pointelle sweater. I love the sweater!!!
I can just see myself in this dress with the socks and loafers and the German Nanny hairdo.

Wilde Imagination's Lizettte Arrives

Wilde Imagination has announced the arrival of Ellowyne's new friend, Lizette. There is one basic doll and two dressed dolls.

The basic is a wigged doll, Essential Lizette, and sure to be very popular.  I like the wild wig look much better than the smooth one. It gives her character and works perfectly with her skin color. She's adorable! She is $119. and WI is offering free shipping until midnight January 31st.

This dressed doll is called A New Girl in Town. I like her hairstyle which is rooted. The rest of the outfit is odd and looks like something a waitress or a volunteer nurse would wear. Part of her back story is Lizette collects hats.
"Pretty Little Lizette" is shown here and I love her outfit! She is wigged (removable) and that's a good thing because I don't think this wig works for her at all. Both dressed dolls are $149.

I would love to see Lizette's ethnicity fully embraced with frizzy hair and all. I hope I'm not being politically incorrect but this is a dark skinned doll. She has AA features and I'd enjoy seeing WI run with that.
