Integrity Toys' New Dolls

On Saturday, January 26. 2013 members of the W Club were invited to a webinar during which new dolls were described and shown.
Not all of IT's doll lines were included in this reveal. The most popular appears to be the new Funny Face collection designed by Chris Stoeckel. These dolls and fashions are based on the 1957 movie by the same name that stars Audrey Hepburn and  Fred Astaire. In a brilliant move, the designers decided to give each doll in the new line a different sculpt. And, instead of having a bunch of single dressed Poppy Parker-faced dolls, several of the dolls are mini-giftsets and full giftsets. The focus is on the fashion and although none of the designs is original, Stoeckl has interpreted them very nicely.

Here are several of the images with which we were presented.
Jo Stockton "Take the Picture"

Maggie Prescott's Assistant "Think Pink"
Dovima as Marion "A Woman Who Thinks"
Jo Stockton "On How To Be Lovely"
Jo Stockton "Bonjour Paris"
Maggie Prescott "The Quality Woman"

There is a lottery for another gift set. This one is called "Let's Kiss and Make Up." It looks like a fabulous gift set consisting of three complete outfits and lots of accessories. Also included is a little dog. It's not a poodle but we'll over look that fact.

I need this giftset and will be very disappointed if I am not amongst the lottery entrants who is picked. VERY disappointed.

Another reveal was this year's Dynamite Girls designed by David Buttry. Entitled "London Calling,"  the collection consists of 7 dolls each priced at $65.  I didn't care for any of the four girls; their outfits are pedestrian. But, the two male dolls are fabulous. The layering, attention to detail and edgy styling is clear in the guys and missing from the girls.

Integrity's 16" doll line has morphed into Tulabelle. The backstory sounds like a fantasy from Cosmo magazine. Here's the promo text from Integrity Toys:

Every once in a while, you meet a character that is so special and unique that you can't forget her. That's Tulabelle! She's a young influential fashion blogger and the go-to expert for the latest in trends for young fashionistas around the world. Tulabelle comes from a long line of fashion insiders and has inherited her family's extensive archive of clothing from the beginning of the 20th century to today. The highlight of the collection consists of some amazing pieces from her famous model grandmother, Poppy Parker! Whether she's hanging out with friends at her favorite thrift store or sitting front row at the hottest runway show, Tulabelle is always at the forefront of style.

There are 6 dressed dolls in the collection, one of which is a "basic" priced at $115. The others are priced at $150.
I have previously written that I prefer sophisticated looking doll sculpts more than the teen look. I think it's sad that the giant Poppy dolls and these gals have replaced the Avantguard line. They could have kept the sculpts and used the improved body. As a collector who spans both the 16" and 12" groups, I know many who loved the AG sculpts and would buy them again. But I believe IT caters to it's post-Barbie collectors who tend to prefer more youthful looks.
That being said, I did like one of the Tulabelles very much...enough to pre-order her!

Calling this doll "Yeti to Wear" — dorky — but I like the fashion. Hopefully the bangs come out flat enough to stay on her forehead. I'm curious about the body as I've not seen it yet. I don't think her fashion will fit any of my 16" dolls but we'll see.

The other new dolls revealed are three Holograms from the Jem and the Holograms line.
Since I am not one of the former television watchers of this cartoon, I have no connection there. To me they look trashy. IMO, there is no fashion, just costume, all for $119. each. Lest I forget, you get a detailed plastic guitar.

Lorrence Makes It Work with Dynamite Girls

Lorrence, aka WuDollsClubKid, posted his reinterpreted versions of Mattel's set of Tim Gunn dolls on the W Club board. Lorrence used Dynamite Girls by Integrity Toys instead of the original Barbies. I love how well the clothes fit these bodies.

Photography by Lorrence.

If you look back a few posts you can see what the original dolls looked like. Which do you prefer? I like the Lorrence's Dynamite Girl version because they are articulated and make the best use of the cute outfits. It makes me want to purchase the Barbie dolls just for their clothing. It wouldn't be the first time I've done that but I always wind up selling both the Barbies and the clothes due to the quality issues.

Auden - Back to Brooklyn

Let me come right out and say this is a great doll! His outfit is well designed and executed. It fits perfectly. I ordered Auden mainly because his shoes were a knock-out. The rest of the fashion is really top notch.

With the tie not pushed up under the collar, the collar lays much nicer. Well done!

Look at all the tiny buttons sewn on! The details are amazing.

The hair - not so great. I wish I could style it differently and not ruin it. Male dolls need wigs for short styles or flocking or long pony tails.

How can a doll like this be manufactured so well and retail for only $65?  I'm asking because there are similar sized dolls coming from IT that don't have such fabulous outfits costing twice as much and more.

Integrity Toys New Doll Release

Instead of posting every single doll that Integrity debuted the other day to the exclusive W Club members, I'm going to highlight what I pre-ordered and why and then I will review some of the other dolls.

The webinar opened with the presentation of the Dynamite Girls whose new season is called "Back to Brooklyn." That got my attention for obvious reasons...or if you don't know me...I grew up in Brooklyn, went to school there and worked there for a few years.  The dolls are cute - especially the two male dolls whose fashions are to die for. I ordered Auden because of his clothes. His hair is weird and too girlish.
Auden
I probably should have ordered Remi, too, because I want his outfit. This is one SMOKIN' doll. The thing is, I don't collect male dolls. So what will I do with their adorable clothes? Sigh.
Remi
I also ordered Gavin because I love red-haired dolls and she is adorable. I don't know if I will like her outfit in person. It's a little heavy looking. It sure would be cute if she had saddle shoes.
Gavin
I don't know if the designers ever lived in Brooklyn or do now but Brooklyn was more than the trendy areas that exist currently. It was a place that many refuges from Eastern Europe first called home during and after WWI. It was the beginning of a new life in the New World where many found freedom from persecution, the right to educate their children, the right to work and advance economically. Brooklyn was all that and it was home. Entire extended families lived there. Mine did. It was wonderful.

Next up was the NuFace "Live, Work, Play" collection. I ordered "Lead Singles" Lillith and Eden Two Doll Gift Set because I liked all the clothes and the dolls are adorable. Someone has pointed out to me that Lillith's fashion is based on a design seen on Lady Gaga. More about that in another post.

The rest of the NuFace Collection includes the Count. I know they're calling him something else but this is one of the seriously ugly, most frighteningly freaky-looking faces ever. He was a vampire and now looks like a relative of Dorian Gray. And the jacket doesn't fit him properly. They should break this mold and stop trying to pass it off as something it's not. Someone apparently has an ego invested in this hideous mold.
Annik, Giselle, Perry?
The Poppy Parker Collection had a doll I knew I would order the moment I saw her, "She's Not There." This is Twiggy! Well done.

And I just had to order Chip to go with her.

And the Rest of the Poppy/Darla collection "Sunshine Games." I would love Darla's Mondrian dress if it were shorter.

Next up, the Fashion Royalty collection, "Style Directive" was presented. I was impressed with this entire collection in that the price point was kept reasonable and each doll came with accessories.
I ordered World on a String Eugenia. Her fashion looks fabulous. The 'fur' collar comes off the jacket. It's a very versatile outfit. IMO. I'm hoping the factory doesn't destroy the cute hairdo that shows in the promo.
Eugenia

I also pre-ordered "Main Attitude" Adele Makeda. I love her outfit, too. I'm not sure about the wrap but the rest of it is just perfect!
Adele
The remaining Fashion Royalty dolls are from Veronique in the upper left clockwise to Dania, Kesenia, the newly sculpted Kyori and Jordan.
Someone said that Kesenia looked like Poesie Sans Couleur Vanessa. Let me state unequivocally that she does not look at all like Poesie. Maybe the hair color and the vinyl tone reminded that collector of Vanessa but that's where the resemblance ends.  Kesenia has a vampire mouth. Kyori has gotten a new nose. It is slimmer and has more definition. I liked the original Kyori and didn't think she needed anything. This Kyori is a gift set that comes with lingerie and an additional outfit. I think Dania is lovely but I don't like the hair. Even in the promo it looks awkward.  Veronique, (this is actually Fauxnique,) reminded me so much of "It's My Party" Tyler I had to do a double take. It could be the pose...

Tyler "It's My Party"

Finally, the FR2 dolls were presented. Elise and Dasha were missing!
From left to right below are Tatyana, Lucia and Ayumi.

In the strange style to which the designers have become accustomed, Lucia (remember her from IFDC, etc.?) has now become Lucia. Carol Roth pronounced the name Loo-cha instead of Lu-chee-ah. It looks nothing like Lucia and god only knows why they used the name again. It is the same FNO sculpt I disliked as did so many others. On the right is "Opium Ayumi." I like the dress.  I ordered Tatyana out of the three. Jason said something about using seldom seen sculpts on the FR2 dolls. Does he think that the FR2 lovers are so obsessed that they will buy the doll even if they don't like the sculpt? At $175. a doll, I don't think so.

Overall, it was an impressive collection.

Here are photos of some other dolls for comparison.

Ugly; Ugliest; Vampire

Will the real Lu-ci-a please stand up? No, not you, Loo-cha.

Victoire Roux, Parisian Fashion Model

Integrity Toys is populating their new IT Direct branch with four stand alone dolls that use previously seen sculpts and a new line called Les Silhouettes Collection. I couldn't help but think of Michel Couture Hayworth's  Flavia, Grand Duchesse de Beauharnaise. when first reading Integrity's  titles and the description.

Here is the description from IT:

Faubourg Saint-Honoré
Victoire Roux Dressed Doll
Les Silhouettes Collection

When Christophe Marquis first invited Victoire to visit his shop and review his first collection, sales were a little slow. The war had taken its toll on everyone in Europe, except Victoire Roux that is. No matter what, she had always made it a point to stand proud, never let herself go and always look her best to help boost everyone's morale. In other words, she resisted the invader with glamour and flair! Of course, the minute she walked in, she spotted a few outfits she liked, switched a few things over, added her own twist and voila, every sophisticated Parisian socialite was suddenly whispering about Monsieur Marquis' little shop on Avenue Montaigne. Fashion history had just received its first victorious shock treatment, Victoire Roux style! Costumes are designed to fit most 12-inch fashion dolls. Includes outfit, shoes and accessories.

Avenue Montaigne
Doll Costume
Les Silhouettes Collection

My photo shows Victoire without her cropped yellow jacket. I added the cigarette holder. The Avenue Montaigne fashion is on the mannequin. It comes with a hat and a longer pair of the potholder gloves seen on the table.

Victoire uses a former Dynamite Girls sculpt and the Vampire body. Luckily she does not have fangs or at least she's got them retracted. She has removable hands but does not come with extra hands. The face-up is very attractive and she has applied lashes. The period hairstyle was done expertly and will last forever as it is rock hard. I like it that way.

Available only at the convention these items were priced at $125 for the dressed doll and $75. for the separate fashion plus tax of 9%.

Just for Fun - Redressing Twilight Jane

I bought Jane because I liked her hooded coat. I took it away from her while she was asleep in her coffin.

So she was hanging around in my studio nekkid and shivering and somehow managed to get dressed in this Dynamite Girl's outfit.

Poor thing looks like she has a hangover with the red eyes, thus the shades.

Integrity Toys 2011 New Dolls ~ Part II of IV ~ Dynamite Girls

Above, The Plastic Inevitable Collection. Left to right Heart of Glass Aria; Most Beautiful Boy Auden; Downtown Darling Jett; Radiant Child Remi; Rock Candy Rufus. $59.99 each.

The Dynamite team does not disappoint. The buzz about the new male dolls is alive with collector happiness especially for Auden. The price has gone up a bit but I think these dolls are still a decent value for the money.

Below, The Check Mates Collection. Left to Right Heat Wave Aria; Summer Daze Kyu; Heat Wave Aria (on shoulders); Beach Bunny Sooki. $44.99 each.
