ITBE : Oomph, Zing and Jolt

Workshop: Time Served

I am still awaiting delivery of my pre-ordered convention collection. The jury is out on those dolls until I see them in person.
The ITBE dolls look cute until you see their dresses and shoes. They are $9.99 Barbie type clothes.
Time served is one of the worst-looking male dolls ever and the photo doesn't make it better.

What do you think of the dolls?

  1. Where's Nightshade Kyori? I think her outfit looks pretty cool. I want to see them in real life, also. don

    1. I guess I didn't add her. I'll get to it.

  2. His hair is particularly bad, almost a mullet.

  3. I think Hanne is pretty- and I like her dress too. I hope she appears in the shop later. I like Simonetta's outfit, more than I thought I'd like her from other pictures. Wild Thing Poppy is cute but I am not going to kill myself getting her. The other dolls are pretty enough but I am not in love with their outfits at all. I was hoping Dark Moon Poppy would be... Darker.

My favs from the convention are Le Smoking Adele, Intimate Reveal Agnes (who is insanely expensive right now on the secondary market!) and maybe that Hanne, which I don't think will be hard to lay hands on.

    1. I'm sure you'll be able to get Hanne but I must warn you about the dress. It's not made all that well - unless it was just mine. The base fabric onto which the sequins are sewn is a stretchy fabric. It is a bit twisted so if you want the top to cover both breast evenly, the front center seam is not going to be in the center of the front.
The only thing about Dark Moon that I don't particularly care for is her hair. I don't have her in hand yet. Hopefully her outfit isn't as cheap as it looks.

    2. Ooooh- thank you for the warning about the dress, that was my primary reason for wanting her, as I wanted to try it out on Nelson.

One thing I don't get now that the lottery info is up, is why Wild Thing Poppy isn't in there? Her edition size was 600 and convention goers account for no more than 500 of the dolls, so what happened to the rest ?

  4. $9.99 (£5) Barbie dresses? I can get better than that in my local supermarket for £3...

  5. Kyori looks much like Faded Desert Kyori but with loose hair... I might just see if I can buy the outfit.

  6. Thanks for sharing so many photos with us. :)
In addition to the bad- hair boy, I have a personal bias against the female dolls wearing gorgeous gowns, but which show what I call the " bust crack". The underbust seam is SO unattractive, and a great many wonderful couture gowns on the Gloss Convention dolls are simply cut too low, IMO. Not " too low" for me, but for their underbust articulation.

It's really the conspicuous feature to a lot of the dolls. That, and the over-rooting. A few of the dolls have enough rooting for two dolls PoppycoughParker as disco queen ( not in this group of photos) :)

    1. I'm with you on the bust joint issue. It's a problem that I've never come to grips with but when I photograph them, I Photoshop the joint away. The high end resin dolls have that going on too, so it's not only Integrity.

  7. So far, I've been really happy with the dolls I've purchased from both the FR and Color Infusion lines.

You are right on the mark about the ITBE outfits. Those dolls do not say "buy me" to me.

    1. Troy, do you remember when they were first released a few years ago? They practically had to give them away after a few months. I don't know how they managed to rise in price to $75. each. Definitely not worth half that amount.

    2. No, I am still a "newbie" to doll collecting. I only rediscovered the joy of dolls about 15 months ago. Darn that Midge and Fashion Queen that I came across! :-)

I agree that they do seem like a much lower tier level of doll; the Barbie Style dolls seem better in comparison. Are they even as nice as the Color Infusion dolls? If I found an one of these ITBE dolls at the $20-$30 level, I would buy it just to see what the line is like.

    3. This is a great site to do research on Integrity Toys' dolls. http://woodsky.free.fr/LBX/listeFR.html

    5. That is a wonderful site, Terri. Thank you! Do you know of a site that discusses the history of the lines (sculpt versions, etc.)? You do such a great job of giving that information, and it would be nice to read about it in one location -- if one exists. Please keep up the excellent work. I look forward to every new post!

    6. I don't know of such a line. I'd try to answer any questions you have but I don't know all of it.

  8. $ 75 for those Fanta girls? Really? They are not worth more than 25 if you ask me. But 75?

I also concerned about the price of Poppy having gone up from 89 dollars just 2 years ago to 125. And the main line dolls being all almost 130 to 140 when they used to be 115 just 2 or 3 years ago. Given that quality control issues have become a problem - I just dont see the justification for it.

    1. I think that production costs for dolls have gone up quite a bit- since there seems to be a price hike across all doll companies. Integrity to me seems much cheaper than say Tonner. I am not pleased with the QC issues myself, but I think the only way to fix that is with a better (more expensive) factory... which would mean even higher doll prices.

That said $75 for those ITBE girls seems a bit ridiculous...

  9. I was not impressed with Convention dolls this year. The fabric looks cheap and the fashions uninspired. Very tired of long wavy hair and that matronly parted in the middle low ponytail style. I thought for,the most part, this collection was a yawn fest. Thumbs down.
