New Michelle Obama 2013 Inaugural Ball Doll

The Danbury Mint continues it's questionable practice of posting an artist's rendering of the doll they are marketing. Mrs. Obama looks gorgeous in her red gown. Danbury Mint posts, in small print, that the "actual doll will vary." Notice they say WILL VARY, not might vary.

So you are forewarned. I know many of you purchased earlier DB dolls and were sadly disappointed. Avoid that by waiting until the doll is released in the Fall of 2013. You can be sure there will be enough to go around.

Price $149. plus $9 shipping.

I have sent a query to customer service to find out the size and other details about the fashion and her hair.

  1. In the fine print (white text) at the bottom of the ad where potential buyers are informed that "Actual doll will vary," the doll is described as "shown smaller than actual size of approx. 16").

I won't buy another Danbury Mint Michelle Obama doll or any doll that appears to be a photograph of the person it is supposed to portray. Fool me once, shame on you because you won't get a second opportunity to disappoint me.

    1. I remember. I hope everyone else remembers, too. Nice to hear from you.

  2. Just to let you know, (and not certain if true now), they do NOT fire the face paint on their dolls. It's PAINTED on with an acrylic-type paint. One swipe of alcohol, and the paint went missing. I mean-REALLY???

Found this out when editting the makeup of the Lucille Ball doll (Cuban Pete/ Sally Sweet).

WHAT a mess, even though I did save her (and later sold her). Never again will I buy Danbury Mint!!!

    1. I did not know that. It's a shame because she would make a beautiful doll.

  3. My mother was VERY excited when she saw this ad on Saturday. (But, the poor dear is nearly blind.) I had to remind her about the last one, which we kept anyway. It's just tucked away, probably to never see the light of day again. I will NEVER fall for that Danbury drama again. I will have to see an actual photo first!!! They ought to be ASHAMED to pull this mess again!!!

    1. Thank you for your comments and for remembering what it was like. I emailed them asking when I could see a picture of the real doll. They replied that I couldn't see it until after it was released. I doubt they will print a picture of the real doll.

  4. When will Mrs. Michelle Obama be available, and why is your cost higher than Danbury's? They are asking for $129.00
