Not Doll Related At All

Every now and then there is something so profound and moving that I feel very strongly about that I just have to post it on my blog. If you can't deal with this video which openly defines what is really underneath what is happening in the Middle East right now, leave now.

There are no pictures other than Glenn Beck talking. It's the message.

First they came…” is a famous statement attributed to pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) about the inactivity of German intellectuals following the Nazi rise to power and the purging of their chosen targets, group after group. There is some disagreement over the exact wording of the quotation and when it was created; the content of the quotation may have been presented differently by Niemöller on different occasions.[1]

One version:
First they came for the socialists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.

  1. Having spent time in Israel, I can say the Jews are more tolerant than we would be over anything close to what goes on there. My feeling is that they should do whatever is needed to be safe and secure. Period.

  3. Thank you, Terri. I am Christian. I stand for Israel. What good that does, from a late middle-aged woman, I don't know. I know: I can pray!

  4. Often wished Hinduism and Buddhism started in the mid-east, too. Then it truly would be "The Holy Land".

Sometimes I feel ashamed of being a human being on this planet, and some of the lessons our children learn from us.

But then.......Humanity's (and God's) light shines, and helps to make us feel clean and worthy again. I hope the 21st Century holds THOSE thoughts as we progress forward. Forget the newest iPhone, iPad, technical gizmo that comes along every 6 months- we should work on Brotherhood first, not destructive toys.

    Bless you, Terri.

  5. A post at a time of Thanksgiving in America. We should all speak loudly to our government that what is going on over there is intolerable.

I read my elementary school students a book every year called The Terrible Things by Eve Bunting. It is about the "They came for ..." But it is about forest animals. It still packs a whallop!

Thank you so much for posting this. It needed to be said and I agree. I, too, stand with Israel.
